LACMTA Metro Red Line Extior Pack v3 for OpenBVE
« on: July 16, 2011, 01:16:53 am »
Hi guys, this is my first time here on BVEStation (and my first post). Anyway, this is my very first LACMTA content for OpenBVE that will be released later this summer.

LACMTA Metro Red Line Extior Pack v3:

first screens:

OpenBVE Preview

Progress in Blender

These will feature (hopefully/maybe to be confirmed)

  • Hi-Quality sounds taken from my prevous recordings
  • Hi-Quality Images taken with my iPhone 4
    • My very first program made by Adobe AIR called "ConTool" which lets you select how many cars you want and it saves it to the Train folder
    • Will run not only Windows XP/Vista/7, will also run on Linux and Mac OS X (10.5+ including 10.7 Lion)

Hopefully this will be released by (maybe) by the end of July. And there's one little glitch with the floor, how am I supposed to scale it like the one in a Blender screenshot?

That looks real nice. It'll be nice to have other content.

Yes. It is. But there's just one little glitch, any idea what's wrong with the floor? It looks messed up.

Maybe if you incorporate it more than once it mightn't look like that

First off, i'd like to welcome you to the forum, Mikey.

It appeared as if you had the floor right, in the first picture. But in OpenBVE it came out like that. For starters, the front of the train in OpenBVE faces the opposite direction (unless its a double-ended car, I'm not familiar with LACMTA). You've centered it around the axis, that's good. A good idea would be to make the floor a separate model, and then export it. Certain aspects of the R62 exterior were added that way.

Eh......it's not a double-end car, I'm just gonna add a back texture to it, but first, I'd had to deal with the floor part first before the back. Would it be ok if I'd show you the code? It might be helpful.

NEVER MIND. I got it fixed.

I'd have to do a little code (ok, a LOT of code unless someone whom is a EXPERT on advaced exterior objects and advanced animations expert can help me with it). now all i have to do is put on the sides and BAM! it's almost done.

PS;
I'm not familiar with LACMTA

it stands for Los Angles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (My favorite Transit system of all-time).

Excellent work, its exciting to finally see somebody develop something for other systems!

If you do have any trouble feel free to post the code, and we'll try to help you as much as we can.  You can always look at other train models that were already made as reference.

Thanks, I was like, I was the VERY first one in this thread to create exterior objects (for other transit systems beside NYCTA). In my first Red Line Extior Pack (RC1) here's what it looked like:

It really din't take it's shape, and the doors are all wrong. it was like cloned/reskinned from another content, Right model, but the doors are all wrong.

Now, here's the Remake (V3) of it:

Now its REALLY starting to take it's shape.

Here it is guys!

The REAL deal:

Unfortunately, I will not be able to animate the doors because the doors itself to too wide and not enough room. BUT I might be able to animate the DestSigns. If no, Then I'll assign them vis this "ConTool" I'm making via/Flash CS5. I might be able to release the beta somtime this week, but I don't even know When will be my deadline for the offical release.

Everyone,

Sorry for the late reply, but I will release a beta within a next few days, I will make a sighup sheet if anyone wanted to give it a Try.

Also, I heard that X objects mostly support the latest version of OpenBVE, but it's not showing up in object viewer. Does anyone know where
I can find a openbve compatible X object viewer (that supports blender exporting)?
