Any Canadian Routes/Trains?
« on: September 03, 2012, 09:51:44 pm »
Hi there,

I live in Toronto, and I would like to try out the Toronto Subway lines, or the GO trains that operate in the areas around Toronto.

Additionally, I'd like to try out any other routes that are based in Canada.

If there is anything out there, please post a link.  At the time of this writing, the site http://wiki.bve-routes.com/ was down, so forgive me if the answers are there.

If anything doesn't yet exist, I would love to see it developed but don't have the resources.  I was just hoping something was out there.

Thanks,

I think that somewhere out there is a TTC subway route and train.

I do not know where to download it however.

Ok,

So far I have found a forum that discusses the existance of a route for the Toronto Yonge-University-Spadina "yellow line", but nowhere is there an official download,
according to that forum.

http://www.cptdb.ca/index.php?showtopic=3363

Unfortunately users on that forum say that nothing else has been done for the Toronto area.  So I'm outta luck for GO Trains, or any other branches of the
TTC Subway.

I will check the massive list of links provided given that the bve-routes site is down, perhaps I will find something further on this Toronto YUS route.

I have the YUS route. It was originally built in 2003 by Dave Reage, he updated it in 2006. Its one of the best made routes in the world. It ran perfectly in BVE2 & 4. I tried it in OpenBVE tonight for the first time, but since OpenBVE is an abortion, there are errors in the route, the most glaring is the doors do not open at any station. i will try to fix the mistakes, when I do, I will send it to you. Please give me a few days since I will be busy with work this week. Someone started the Shepherd subway a few years back, but it was never released.

Toronto YUS route and train downloads:

http://web.archive.org/web/20020614190356/www.crotrainz.com/DownTTC.html
http://trevordaybveworld.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?158
trevordaybveworld.com/e107_files/public/1346474325_62_FT0_ttc_yus_line_pack.rar
http://trevordaybveworld.com/download.php?view.75
trevordaybveworld.com/request.php?75

The original route download includes the R36 train.
TDBW has the new route and the "Toronto Rocket" train.

Super-Awesome!  I downloaded everything from the trevordaybveworld site.  I've googled this, and there are tons of youtube videos of this route, but the
route download wasn't showing up in my searches.

Joe, thanks for your offer to patch the route for OpenBVE.  PM me if/when you release the patch.

Since I am running Linux, BVE2/4 won't work, therefore I will be using this route with OpenBVE.

As a rider of the Bombardier T1, I can't stop laughing at how accurate the acceleration/decelleration whine is...  It's going to perplex people in my household!

As for the stop announcements, they are automated now, and it should be easy to replace the sound files without knowing anything except the correct
filenames.  Maybe those sounds are already available online?  The woman's voice is synthesized.

The TTC T1 train works fine on my copy of OpenBVE but it might be because I have an older copy of openbve.. I heard there are some compatibility issues with the latest release of openbve.

After taking a ride on the YUS subway myself earlier this year, I have to the say the BVE route is a very nice rendering of the actual line. Very nice job on their part.

As for the announcements, yes you can just go and record the announcements and replace the sound files in the BVE Sound folder.

It'd b nice if someone in the Canadian community could take up development of a GO transit commuter route with matching bombardier bilevels and MP40PH locomotives.

Those routes are mighty long to code. Imagine coding every single NYC IRT route at once and the Uniport Yard.

I would definitely want the route.

I would be interested as well.  Usually we can get it put up here, usually through a file hosting service which is then transferred over to our servers here.
