Transit / Coming to NYC for Christmas
« on: November 11, 2014, 10:16:01 pm »
Hey guys. There is a chance I may get to visit my sister in NYC for Christmas this year, and I will be very eager to busfan and railfan the equipment you guys have over there. Since I barely track your guys' transit system there anymore, I have a few dumb questions that I would appreciate greatly if they were answered for me:

1. Are there any Orion V buses remaining in service (Diesel or CNG)? If so, which location would one of you guys recommend as the best place to catch one?
2. In which area(s) are your Nova RTS's most prominent? Also are there any "black back" RTS's remaining in service? If so, where would I be able to catch one?
3. How many R62A's remain active on the (7) Line that have not yet been replaced by R188's? And that being said, where did the replaced R62A's go? Are there any cars of the R62/A family possible to be found on unusual routes (i.e. (2), (4), (5), (6))?
4. Which bus route(s) would I be able to find a Proterra electric bus on (if they are even in service/will be in service come December)?
5. I know the R32 cars are still prominent on the (C) Line, but are the R42 cars still a regular sight on the (J)/(Z) line, or have they all been withdrawn from service now?
6. Any Christmas specials (bus or subway) that I should be aware of? I know there's the historical buses on the M42 but does it go beyond that?

Here's something that may interest you guys over in NYC. Just came across this on my Facebook news feed. TML Studios has recently started work on the 4th instalment in the World Of Subways series, simulating the (7) Line of the New York City Subway.

Information from Wednesday:

And today:

I have high hopes in this simulation. It looks pretty promising.

Transit / 2013 Nova LFS CNG buses (Calgary Transit)
« on: July 21, 2013, 10:36:03 pm »
It's been a bit of a while since I posted in this forum, so I thought about coming back with some more Calgary Transit eye candy. These are two brand new Novabus LFS CNG buses (#8203 and #8204) that we just got (put into service on July 3), as part of our pilot project for CNG buses. If my information serves me correctly, these are the FIRST Nova LFS CNG buses in the world.

And a video of a ride on board #8204:

Saw a whole bunch of these around Calgary yesterday, working a school days-only bus route. We actually have 11 of these buses still left here.

Back on Tuesday, Calgary Transit put two New Flyer XN40's into service, as part of a pilot project for CNG buses. These are the CNG versions of the XD40's that all of you guys have in NYC. I got a video of one of these two buses. Enjoy and subscribe to my channel!  :)

Station Talk / What happened to Photo of the Month?
« on: February 13, 2013, 08:05:59 pm »
Just a quick little question.....Why don't you guys do Photo of the Month anymore? Looking through the forum, the last Photo of the Month was way back in August 2012. Just wondering, thanks.

Here are a bunch of photos I took around Calgary recently...

(No idea why all of them appear so small here. Click on them for full size)

Transit / A few Transit videos from lately...
« on: December 28, 2012, 12:03:17 am »
Figured I'd post some of my recent videos

Here is a ride in a 1991 MCI TC40-102N Classic...
Calgary Transit: On Board 1991 MCI Classic #5023 (Route 14)

A 2007 New Flyer D40LFR on a rare C-Train Disruption service...
Calgary Transit: On Board 2007 New Flyer D60LFR #6002 (C-Train Replacement Bus)

And a 2006 D40LF...
Calgary Transit: On-board 2006 New Flyer D40LF #7971 (Route 14)

And just a suggestion....I think there should be a special thread just for transit videos, just like there is a thread for OMSI videos and OpenBVE videos. That way, people wouldn't have to start a new thread just to post a few videos ;)

Introduction / Greetings from Canada!

Hey everyone, a few of you guys might know me as YouTube user Skinnylee2. I am from Calgary, in Canada, and I just thought I might as well sign up for this forum just for the heck of it. My name is Nicholas Blonski but you guys can call me Nick. Now, you guys may know that SubwayTrainOperator5 has chosen to quit not only this forum, but also YouTube, so I am also the guy who now controls his YouTube channel. Since he also used to be a member on here, I guess I am essentially "replacing him" on the internet. So, um, yeah, just wanted to say hi, nothing else for now  :)
