LOWER MANHATTAN (PIX11) -  The MTA tried to warn subway riders.

Extra crews handed out pamphlets and signs were posted throughout stations.

Still some R train riders, like Brandy Amrhein, were thrown off track on the first day the line was rerouted for repair work.

“We got on the R train thinking we were going to go to City Hall, and we noticed that we were crossing the bridge over into Brooklyn and we were kind of scared and confused.  We figured out that we had to get back on the Q train to come back to Canal Street,” Amrhein said.

The last R train to travel through the Montague Street Tunnel for more than a year left Court Street Friday night around 11:30.

For the next 14-months, the MTA will repair the tunnel after it was flooded during Sandy.

27 million gallons of salt water ruined the tracks and signals and the MTA says it will cost more than $300 million to fix.

So for the next 14 months, R train riders will have to learn and navigate the new route.

On weekdays, Brooklyn bound R trains will stop at Whitehall Street South Ferry.

Manhattan bound trains will stop at court street in Brooklyn.

And on the weekends, the R train will instead travel over the Manhattan Bridge, skipping two stops in Brooklyn and four in lower Manhattan.

“It is something that is going to inconvenience our customers, but the alternative was to do this work on weekends and nights.  If we took that attack, the work would have taken years,” MTA worker Kevin Ortiz said.

The changes are expected to affect 65-thousand riders, who were already experiencing increased delays along the “R” line because of the damage after Sandy.
So while the M-T-A tries to help riders get around during the planned service changes, advocates say most won’t really understand the new route until the regular work week commute.

“There’s really no way to see the impact on riders until Monday when rush hour hits,” Rebecca Bailin of Riders Alliance said.

Meaning, if you rely on the R train, you might want to leave a few extra minutes to get to the office Monday morning. :-\

Well, what they really need in PR are a fleet of 1999 Motor Coach Industries 102-DLW3SS Commuter Coaches or 2011 Prevost X3-45 seen here in this video:
New York MTA 2011 Prevost X3-45 2456 & 1999 Motor Coach Industries 102-DLW3SS 2066 At Madison Avenue They can have express service out of San Juan in peak directions to the outer towns of PR like Fajardo, Luquillo, Canovanas, Rio Grande, Caguas, Mayaquez, Arecibo, Vaga Alta and Baja, Toa Alta and Baja, Arroyo, Cabo Rojo and Ponce. They can put Bus Lanes and HOV (High Occupancy Vehicles) lanes on the highways to avoid traffic jams. As for your seggestion. The Metropolitan Bus Authority MBA (Autoridad Metropolitana de Autobuses AMA) are too lazy for all that work which is the reason there buses are always breaking down. The Governor of PR should look into this. :-\

We need textures from :
The (7) line from 33rd-Rawson south to Times Square
The (Q) and (B) lines from Prospect Park to Coney Island

Walls, signs, tablets, artwork, platforms, stairways, everything at all the stations, we need textures of them all.

Make sure the textures are clear, high quality, not skewed, and have little to no glare. I would suggest cleaning your camera lens before going railfanning, as a dusty lens makes for horrid textures.

Also always check the content contributor page to see what developers need: http://www.bvestation.com/contributor/

I will see if I can help. I'm in the middle of making a subway music video. I will also post more pictures of the Brighton Beach Line. 8)

General BVE/OpenBVE / Real Routes and Fictional Routes
« on: April 09, 2012, 11:36:22 am »
Guys, I have always be patient waiting for routes to be posted but lately I've been seeing more fictional routes posted than real ones. My question is, if you can build fictional routes, why not build real ones. Even if someone is already working on it, someone can post their own version of the (ex. 1 Train, The rest of the 2 line, and so forth.) Can someone answer this without sarcastic or mean answers. :-\

Good to have you back Joe.  8)

the signal must had turned red very fast if the train had hit the emergency brake like that
The tripper at the red signal made the train stop like that.Maybe the T/O was not expecting to see a red signal and was focused on the 10 car marker at the end of the platform. Happens to the best of them. 8)
