For best results with BVE (and many other games), try to get a computer with an ATI video card (if you get to pick)..those generally tend to work better with BVE than video cards from other brands.

Well regardless of what your personal experiences are, it has been noticed that in the past 4 or so years that BVEStation has been in operation, 4/5 of the problems with graphics on BVE have involved nVidia cards in one way or another.

and I have noticed that 3/5 of the problems, the user were not computer orientated thus it wouldn't matter what card they were using in the first place.

Anyway back on topic it is likely that your graphics card is failing. Since your computer is already from 2004 you might as well just wait for your new one.
