Station Talk / Re: Recent Downloads Removed
« on: June 01, 2016, 10:46:35 pm »
I've noticed that all of the most recent downloads have been removed. Is this for maintenance or will they be restored?

Heya! As ipac said, the Hmmsim downloads were cluttering things up. I'll have them back up in a few weeks, combined into larger .zip files so they won't totally clog up the downloads section.

Everybody who is creating routes and trains, especially for Hmmsim, please read the following forum post!

Thanks so much guys  :D!

Lately, I've noticed a lot of downloads being posted to the site that have some quality control issues. I'm so glad that you guys are pumping out new content, but PLEASE, follow the below guidelines before posting downloads to the site. Any downloads not following these guidelines will be deleted, and a notice will be sent to you requesting you to re-upload the content correctly.

Remember, thousands of people go to BVEStation for their openBVE and Hmmsim content. Lets ensure that they have a top notch experience. Thanks guys, and keep doing what you're doing!  :D

This is VERY important. The downloads section has been flooded with countless Hmmsim downloads. I absolutely love Hmmsim, but content for the program has made it hard to find the openBVE stuff.

I have removed the Hmmsim content from the site so it stops cluttering the downloads section. I would like the people converting routes to Hmmsim compile one large .zip file, which has all the routes and trains in it. This would allow people who want openBVE content to easily find what they want, while allowing Hmmsim users to keep the ability to download their content.

Also, please test the content on your phone to ensure it works before uploading it! This is very important!

Proper Thumbnails and Descriptions

Please, provide accurate descriptions, with no spelling and grammar errors, explaining exactly what the add on is. Also, use simple thumbnails that are not visually obtrusive. For fictional routes, please include a subscript below the route bullet saying "Fictional".

Additionally, if you are releasing a non-fictional route, please send me a PM first before doing so.

Examples of well-done thumbnails and descriptions:

Fictional Route:

Test your Content before Releasing It!

PLEASE, test the download before releasing it to make sure it works. This is VERY important. Once you create a .ZIP file with your content, please test the whole process of opening it, installing, and running the route/train to ensure everything works.

If you are having any issues getting your content to upload correctly, please send me a PM, and I will see what I can do to handle the situation.

Thanks again guys!  :D I appreciate all of the hard work you're doing.

BVE/OpenBVE Support / Re: How to Reduce Lag
« on: April 27, 2016, 02:00:41 am »
This isn't a safe and reliable way to decrease lag. In most cases, it doesn't have any effect. Please do not attempt this to reduce lag, as it can cause your computer to crash.

Content Development / Re: What trains are being planned this year?
« on: January 03, 2016, 05:44:36 pm »
May as well jump in here..

Here's the deal, almost all of these routes are being worked on. Just keep in mind that we don't get paid to develop things, and life gets in the way of developing.

Rest assured that sustained development work is ongoing on openBVE routes and trains. Also, I would NOT characterize openBVE as "defunct". There is ongoing development of the simulator happening right now:

Somebody brought up a point that BVEStation doesn't use social media enough, this is true. I'm going to work on improving our social media presence.

Proof that development is ongoing :D  :

BVE/OpenBVE Support / Re: OpenBVE Mac OS X El Capitan
« on: December 28, 2015, 01:38:13 am »
Open terminal and type mono_ (the underscore is a space)
Then drag the openbve.exe application into terminal (found in the open BVE package contents[contents->resources])
Then click enter in terminal.

I upgraded to El capitan and found open BVE 1.4.2 and 1.4.3 both didnt work.
I installed mono 4.0.5, left Open Al and SDL the same from b4 update.
Using this technique and creating an applescript for it worked like a charm.
Check the downloads page, a the Mac Version of openBVE was updated to work with El Captain.

BVEStation Network News / The BETA R line to 95th Street has been released!
« on: December 26, 2015, 12:54:08 am »
After a very long wait, just in time for Christmas, the R line to 95th Street has been released! NOTE: This route is a BETA, it starts from Astoria-Ditmars Blvd, and runs over the Manhattan Bridge to 95th Street.

There will soon be a release of the full R (Both directions), with multiple scenarios after the Q is released.

Again, this is a BETA release. The route is not finished yet.

openBVE is definitely not dead! Lots of development work is going on.  :D

I think there has been a marked shift from forums to Facebook as a place of discussion. You can always participate in openBVE discussion on BVEStation's facebook page and group:
