Hello Everyone does anyone know a really good train builder that could help me with my wmata trains . Im trying to make them more real and sound more like the real thing any help is appreciated Thank you.
-
To create the exterior (and a 3D cab if you want one), you can use Google Sketchup or Blender. The rest I believe has to be manually coded.
-
The exterior can be handled by the way mentioned above, while the "rest of the train" ie, the sounds and the physics can be handled either manually through the train.dat file, or the train editor program. Handling the code for the trains are easy. The hard part is finding the proper sounds that can be easily manipulated.
If someone else can master the exterior and cab views, I can help with the sounds and physics.

Hi Fan Railer thats great you could make the sounds the first train I want to work on making authintic is the wmata Rohr 1000 series I have a panel and cab view for it I tryed to make the sounds my self but failed many times . I never could get the sounds right and the timming. If you have aim or a email address PM it to me and we can talk further thank you.

Mr. Nicholas Blonski,
How do you convert Sketchup or Blender objects into BVE objects?
Good day,

@WMATARAILFAN, do you have the trains that were given in the red route for bve 2/4 found here?
http://www.orenstransitpage.com/otpbveroutes/download.htm (http://www.orenstransitpage.com/otpbveroutes/download.htm)
if you have those, then you can use those files (with the owner`s permission of course) to help you create the 1000 series. the self-extractor has the trains in it (1000, 2000, etc.)
-
Thank you I have those trains. Ill work off of the 1000 series.

Using the original trains as a template, I have worked on the 4000 and 5000 series cars to the point where you can preview the BETA trains showcasing the propulsion work that's being done with them. The exteriors are aliased from the route object files folder belonging to Oren, and only serve as placeholders of more modern generation exteriors to be done in the future. Enjoy the progress:

The sounds used in the 5000 series are sourced from the new R179 hosted on openbveconnect, and there was no information in the train folder as to who generated those sounds, so if permission is needed to use them, give me a shout-out here.

Excellent Work Fan Railer! Excellent! I Could nt have done BETTER!

And here, ladies and gentlemen, is the 1000 series with new sounds:

:o SWEET ;D can't wait for release ;D

And finally, to round out the current set, the Alstom powered 6000 series and 2000 & 3000 series rehabs:

Remember, all of these trains are BETA previews. More updates to the propulsion can be expected as I work out any inconsistencies and / or bugs with the sounds. The final versions are expected to have new exteriors, but if it is taking too long to find a developer, I may seek permission from Oren (or whoever designed the stand-in exterior) to use as part of the downloadable "Version 1.0." We will keep you posted on development progress.

Awesome !!!! These trains sound really like real wmata subway trains cant wait for the release! Excellent Job Fan Railer:)

Here is an update on the sound development of the WMATA trains for OpenBVE. This is a new channel, as my old one was taken down by a non BVE related copyright claims issue:

More video updates and previews. We are only waiting on Oren's permission for us to use his exteriors and cabs in the new trains before releasing them.

Here is the Rohr 1000 series for OpenBVE operating on the Red Line. The time table has been updated, and both the route file and the rolling stock have been modernized to OpenBVE standards to include ATC operation. The ATC prevents the train from overspeeding, and when activated, cuts power and applies full service braking application until the train is brought down below the maximum allowed speed for that section of track.

Hey guys. Here's a semi-major update to the WMATA train pack in development. The sounds have been made as accurate as possible at this point. Sound updates include replacement of the Rohr braking system, updating high speed motor sounds for all stock, upgrading the CAF starting sound, and replacing motor sounds for the 4000 series. The exterior files have also been modified so that the cars now look like they're in married pairs. There are also now two exteriors, an old version for the Rohrs and original Bredas, and a new version for the Rebuilt Bredas, CAFs, and Alstoms. Individual cars now have a cab end, and a blind end. The cab end of the cars also has the signature red, white, and blue striping. A few more touches and the first version of the WMATA train pack will be ready for release. We will keep you updated. Thank you for your patience.
