Title: Movable Switches / Trip Cocks with Signals
Post by: PSharp217 on January 13, 2013, 06:45:56 pm
Good Evening,

Is it possible to incorporate movable Switches and Trip Cocks with approach to signals and switch junctions. What about Route Request Buttons for those that need it. Just an idea. Let me know what you think?

If you mean make the switches move so that the train can go on a different track, that's currently unavailable, same thing as punch boxes. The animated trippers however, are already in development by BStyles.

In terms of switching, if the tripcock animation is possible, then animated switches are too. What the OP is implying is that on certain switches in the city, the train operator needs to punch the box in order to get the switch to move to the desired position. So as a train pulls into the station in OpenBVE, the switch can be in the default position. Then as the signal clears to allow the train to proceed onward, the switch can move into the position for the train to travel properly. That is all that is implied.

thanks. I appreciate the feedback.

Is anyone also working on Yard activities for any of the lines....

Yard Activities such as:

1 Triple Yellow Approach for all Yard lead stations.
2. Making up of trains for Service
3. Car Wash
4. Layup on storage tracks.

I may be jumping the gun, but would be a cool practice.

There are a few NYCS routes where you drive onto a layup track after terminating. As for the other three, as far as I know nobody is working on it. And openBVE is not that detailed so we might never see those things, but who knows.

I will say right now that 1, 3, and 4 are possible in openbve. It just requires the right animation and code. 2 is not possible because the trainset is preloaded when you load the route and train. openbve does not have the code to support formation and deconstruction of trainsets.
