Post by: Failsafe on November 21, 2011, 02:58:32 pm

So what do you think?

You have to pull the map up a little or zoom out to see the route

Damn that's a long ass route.  Wouldn't it be wiser to just adapt on to the current AirTrain and extend it to LaGuardia?

Well yea i guess you could do that but i only put it trough manhattan so people would not only have to rely on the (A) and it runs through the airport terminals and runs about every 4 minutes so lol i think it would be a good route to have :D

(And I Don't think the airport would wan't to build a monorail all the way over to LaGuardia lol 8))

(And it also depends on connivence i mean if you live in manhattan (if you wan't to take transportation) the only way to get there is by the (A) or the (BB) so of course if you live in queens you would get a cab lol)

The JFK airtrain isn't a monorail.... it's a standard gauge heavy rail system which IIRC uses a Linear Induction system for propulsion.
But regardless, look at the Tokyo Haneida airport Monorail. It goes from the center of Tokyo all the way to the airport.
I think there is a Tokyo Haneida Airport Monorail route for BVE out there actually...

I think that the MTA should have built a ramp up from the center tracks on the Rockaway line at Howard Beach to
connect with a circular line which goes to all the terminals instead of the airtrain. This would provide
one-seat access to the JFK terminals from the rest of the city.

The Port Authority built the JFK AirTrain, not the MTA. Building it with a track connection to the Rockaways line would mean lost income for the PA by way of fares. Sure, you could reinstate some sort of double fare-style charging with turnstiles or HEETs that you would have to swipe your MetroCard upon exiting at the JFK Terminals so the PA gets their share of the profits, but how would you get that fare on reverse trips? You'd have to do the same at literally every station, which could get quite expensive.

Just do what the Airtrain does already, charge 5 dollars to get on the line at a JFK terminal station, and charge extra to exit at the JFK terminal stations.

And it's not really that long. The (D),(A),(E),(F),(C),(N),(Q),(R) and lots of others or way longer than this route

The only routes I see longer then this is only the (A) and the (2), There is no possible way this route is longer then the other routes.

Not every terminal station though, its only at the areas not in JFK where they charge $5 to go enter and exit. Kinda like the SIR
