Title: R142A Testing on the (7)
Post by: [CT1660] on October 15, 2011, 02:50:14 am
Note: THESE ARE NOT MY PHOTOS!

Looks like they've been testing the R142A on the (7) train as late as September.

The photos are dated 9/21/2011.

I did get a glimpse of the actual train myself in person since where i live, it's right next to the 103rd st Station, but didn't make it in time to take out the camera for videos.

Pretty late on it, this has been brought up a couple of times and many more times on NYCT forums.  If I recall, I heard the 2 sets are not in Corona anymore.

thanks for the correction. now changed it to "as late as september". Makes me wonder if they're going to make an 11 car R142A test train anytime soon because on all of the videos about it, including this one, shows a 10-car train and not an 11-car train.

EXCLUSIVE! R142a (7) NOT IN SERVICE entering & Departing vernon jackson ave. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq568sGKW9g#)

i'll go check during the week to see if the set is still there. Corona yard is not too far where i live.

All I know is that there were I believe only 2 sets of 10 R142A's testing on the line.  As of late, I've heard they were not in Corona no more.

Don't think there was any mention of testing out or making of an 11-car set.

They can't test an 11-car set until the new R188 insert car arrives sometime late next year.

It was already been stated that he was late on it, then he admitted it yet you still tried to troll him on being late.

Not really, I just wanted him to see my shots of it on the 7 for further proof...

i don't know if anyone has ever noticed, but the way the R142A's start accelerating, the propulsion sound reminds me of the end of the song "99 Luft balons" (99 Red Balloons) , which ends in a similar sound.
