Title: OpenBVE NJ Transit HBLR Development Thread
Post by: mrsam127 on February 23, 2015, 07:35:14 pm
Hey guys-
Before I started developing the Hempstead Branch, I made a made a shuttle route on the NJT HBLR from Richard Street to 8th Street for practice. I will be developing this, with lesser priority, as I develop the New Canaan and Hempstead Branches. Right now the route is very short, but it may be expanded soon. Along with the route, I am also developing the Kinkisharyo LRV that operates the HBLR. This project is NOT my top priority, so don't expect too much information on it lol, but I will try to give (fairly) regular updates. I'll post screenshots and videos after more progress has been made with the route.

When you're satisfied with what you have for the LRV unit, send it over and I'll nail down the sounds and the physics for it.

As some of you know, the NJ Transit HBLR and Kinkisharyo LRVs are currently being worked on. Watch the video below to see the development so far.

Title: HBLR Beta Release Possible in Near Future
Post by: mrsam127 on March 21, 2015, 05:49:44 pm
HBLR development is going good. The route is being actively developed, as well as the LRV. I am thinking about making a VERY short public beta release of the route (just two or three stops), which will accompany the release of the LRV. This may happen in the next couple of weeks so please stay tuned and feel free to ask questions =)

This video shows progress made so far with the HBLR Shuttle BETA from 45th Street to 22nd Street. Along with the route, the Kinkisharyo LRV will be released. The horn and bell sounds probably will not change before the release, but the motor sounds and physics are being worked on and will be very realistic. Stay tuned on development and feel free to ask any questions =).

Thanks to Ramirez1523, who also got many shots of the route, a new LRV exterior is in development (http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff424/mrsam127/Screen%20Shot%202015-03-23%20at%2012.36.56%20PM.jpg) (http://s1235.photobucket.com/user/mrsam127/media/Screen%20Shot%202015-03-23%20at%2012.36.56%20PM.jpg.html)

The preliminary shuttle test route is complete and will be released when the LRV has a completed exterior and accurate sounds and physics.

Wait till I get back home for the summer (after memorial day weekend)... You'll have no shortage of reference content to work off of.

I have some good news =). The shuttle route is completed and all object permissions have been squared away. The LRV will have a static exterior, which is almost completed, as well as a 3D cab, which is coming along really well =)

The update of the shuttle and LRV has been released at http://www.bvestation.com/download/134. The route now extends from Richard Street to 8th Street, making the whole route about 15 minutes in length.

Everything is fine, except the LRV keeps derailing when the route loads, regardless of which route it I try to run it on. Other trains work as normal on the HBLR route, though.
Title: HBLR SHUTTLE PATCH RELEASED (AGAIN)
Post by: mrsam127 on May 17, 2015, 07:07:13 am
The route has been updated due to a minor inaccuracy near 8th street. If you have already downloaded the file, simply extract the patch available at http://www.mediafire.com/download/pqzgxecqbcay8pt/HBLR+Patch+v1.zip to your OpenBVE directory and overwrite if asked.

Yes, unfortunately the train physics aren't complete yet, so derailments have to be disabled in OpenBVE to properly use the train. This will be fixed with a patch.

I tried it with derailments disabled, and it works fine.

I know this is a nearly dead topic, but there has been quite a bit of route progress. I have some news, good and bad. The bad news is that we will no longer be supporting the OpenBVE version of this route, however, we are developing a Railworks version of the HBLR that encompasses the ENTIRE system. It is done as a skeleton and is undergoing heavy scenery decoration and wayside detailing. A preview will be made public when the development team chooses to do so. The OpenBVE skeleton from Hoboken to 8th Street will be released to the public domain when the full Railworks version of this route is completed.
