Hello all-
As some of you may know, the New Canaan Branch for OpenBVE is now being developed by Fan Railer and myself alongside the Hempstead Branch. There should be videos and or screenshots up soon so please stay tuned. I have very limited WiFi access this week, so I will not be available often to answer questions.
We'll keep you updated!

So far, the route is barely more than a skeleton. I'm working on scenery placements, and eventually creating objects unique to the route, such as the Springdale Cemetery, signals, etc. The BETA of the route will be similar to the Hempstead Branch, as in little detail and a few errors lol. There will be more screenshots and videos posted shortly. I'm also working on creating a route guide to help some of you navigate the Hempstead and New Canaan Branches easier. I'll keep everybody posted!

Development Update: As of right now, pretty much all of the scenery for the route is finished. It will have that "simple" type look, similar to the Hempstead Branch. You can expect to see many of the same objects for both of those packs. Announcements are not complete, but we're working with what we have. Station detailing and all of the other little things have to be done before a release. I'm hoping for an early to mid April release, but we will see how things play out :)

Another scenery update as of 2/28/15. Route is still a WIP and not available for download yet. Link will be posted when it is released. Car stop markers and correct platform lengths coming in next update. Stay tuned and enjoy =)

So far, development is going pretty good. As you can see in the videos above, we are nearly done with all of the scenery, and now we have to detail the track are, by doing things such as putting in wayside signs and extra objects. I am in the middle of switching laptops right now so there will be more updates when my new laptop gets here. I am hoping for a release at some time in the coming months, so that we can survey the route and give it more detail. But keep listening for more updates, as they will be coming soon :).

Another update as of 3/5/15 (additional scenery, car stop markers, crossing markers):

Development Update: The route is coming along well. Right now station detailing is being done, and stations have route appropriate fences, similar to the ones seen here: http://www.iridetheharlemline.com/2011/12/13/tuesday-tour-of-the-new-haven-line-glenbrook. More updates soon =)

Hey guys- I know I've sorta been leaving this thread in the dark a little bit lately lol but you can rest assured that the New Canaan Branch is still in active development. The route may or may not be surveyed sometime in the next couple weeks, which will help development. We are also working on creating objects for the route with complicated coding, such as blinking signals. Stay tuned =)
-
So I haven't posted lately, but I do have a couple of updates: First, we have redone a lot of scenery to create more detailed stations, highway overpasses, etc. We also want you to know that the route will have some announcements, not full ones, but partially complete announcements. But the most important thing we have is that the route will be coded as a change ends route. This means that you can operate the route from Stamford to New Canaan, and then change to the opposite end cab and bring the train back to Stamford. This will take a bit of time to do, but considering the fact that the route is so short to begin with, we think it will be fun to make a little longer. We are getting fairly close to finishing up the route, so stay tuned =)
-
I can't wait for the release of this route! When it is released, will it already have the change ends coding?

Thanks! And yes, the next release will have the change ends already coded in. Considering the fact that this is not a big project, we want to make as few releases as possible. We will probably just have a beta release, which will include change ends coding, and then another release after that with full detail.

Development progress so far. Sorry for the poor quality, they usually don't come out this bad =)

That's pretty much what they use... the majority of their signals are in-cab signals.

Sorry the thread has been so quiet. There was a recent change in the development team, and in light of such, the route will be released very soon. Animated trains (Acelas and M8s) have been added, along with catenary wire poles and signal transponders. Expect more news soon and a release in the near future. Unforunately, the route will NOT be coded in reverse.
-
All of the scenarios for the BETA release have been created and are now in the process of ensuring the accuracy of each scenario. Stay tuned =)
