Title: TS2015: Amtrak Acela Express 165 MPH Test Runs
Post by: Fan Railer on October 14, 2014, 05:17:13 am
Been messin' around on TS2015... does this look familiar to anyone? ;)

The TS2015 take on the high speed 165 mph Acela Express late night test runs on the Northeast Corridor, as seen through Princeton Junction station.

This is the Amtrak Acela Express Physics Upgrade pack (TS2015 version).

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the Amtrak Acela Express EMU Add-On pack avaliable at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/65231/ (http://store.steampowered.com/app/65231/)

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Physics adjustments made around the existing sounds.

The purpose of this pack is to correct some physics errors in the original Acela pack.

Parameter Change Log:
1. Adjusted tractive effort and braking effort curves based on real world figures available online. Original figures used were much too high and lead to an unrealistically fast train set.
2. Adjusted individual car weights based on real world figures available online.
3. Added the ammeter feature on the HUD, and tweaked the cab TE display to read a maximum of 50,000 lbf of starting tractive effort.
4. Top speed has been unlocked from 165 mph to 205 mph. Based on available power from power cars, balancing speed is 186 mph for 7 car set.

For more specifics on the specific values that were changed, proceed here: http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10774 (http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10774)

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Open the Acela asset pack until the directory reads "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\AcelaPack01"
2. Then open the "Railworks_Acela_Express_Physics_Mod.rar" file.
3. Drag the folder from the .rar file and into the directory you opened in step one.
4. Overwrite if asked.
5. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check.

Thank you for downloading and installing.
Enjoy =)

Title: TS2015: EMD SD70 Series Physics Mod Pack Released
Post by: Fan Railer on November 13, 2014, 11:48:40 am

This is the EMD SD70 Series Physics Modification pack for the SD70MAC, SD70ACe, and SD70M-2. In this video, you will see me demonstrate the changes that I've made to the locomotives to make them perform more realistically. The test consists of 3 locomotives of one class accelerating a 60 car Autorack freight train up to 70 MPH before utilizing only dynamic braking to stop.

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the "SD70 V2 Volume 2 Loco Add-On" pack available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/208365/ (http://store.steampowered.com/app/208365/)

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Physics adjustments made around the existing sounds.

The purpose of this pack is to adjust the locomotive weight, fuel capacity, motor amperage limits, and traction and braking effort values for more realistic operation.

The pack purchased from Steam includes the BNSF SD70MAC, BNSF SD70ACe, Canadian National SD70M-2, and Norfolk Southern SD70M-2. Originally, all locomotives in this pack shared a single set of operating physics, making them operationally identical in the game. However, we know that these locomotive models differ greatly in real life. This mod pack differentiates those locomotives in the game.

General Parameter Change Log (same for all three locomotive classes):
1. Set fuel tank capacity to 4,900 gallons.
2. Changed HUD ammeter function so that it displays tractive/braking effort in thousands of pounds. This means that if the HUD ammeter reads "157 Amps", the locomotive is putting out 157,000 lbs of tractive effort. Conversely, if the HUD ammeter reads "-34.52 Amps", the locomotive is putting out 34,520 lbs of dynamic braking effort.
3. Adjusted tractive effort ratings and curves for individual locomotive models based on the specifications listed below.
4. Adjusted dynamic brake effort ratings and curves for individual locomotive models based on the specifications listed below.

Specific horsepower and tractive effort ratings used in calculation for individual locomotive models:
1. EMD SD70MAC (EMD 16-710G3B; 4000 THP)
   a. Starting tractive effort of 175,500 lbs (780.663 kN) up to 7.165 mph.
   b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,350 hp (2,500 kW).
   c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 81,000 lbs (360.3 kN) from 23.845 mph to 3 mph; linear fade from that speed to 0 lbs @ 1 mph.
   d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 5,145.6 hp (3,840 kW).
   e. Increased weight of 188.3 metric tons (415,126.18 lbs).
   f. Maximum speed of 70 mph.
   g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 191 gallons per hour.

2. EMD SD70ACe (EMD 16-710G3C-T2; 4300 THP)
   a. Starting tractive effort of 189,000 lbs (840.714 kN) up to 7.646 mph.
   b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,850 hp (2,873 kW).
   c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 105,000 lbs (467.063 kN) from 18.395 mph to 3 mph; linear fade from that speed to 0 lbs @ 1 mph.
   d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 5,145.6 hp (3,840 kW).
   e. Increased weight of 191 metric tons (421,078.6 lbs).
   f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.
   g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 187 gallons per hour.

3. EMD SD70M-2 (EMD 16-710G3C-T2; 4300 THP)
   a. Starting tractive effort of 163,000 lbs (7725.06 kN) up to 8.486 mph.
   b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,685 hp (2,750 kW).
   c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 86,850 lbs (386.328 kN) from 22.4 mph to 9 mph; extended range sawtooth function between those speeds; linear fade from max brake effort @ 9 mph to 0 lbs @ 3 mph.
   d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 4,556 hp (3,400 kW).
   e. Increased weight of 177 metric tons (390,214.2 lbs).
   f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.
   g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 187 gallons per hour.

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

Title: TS2015: Extended Range Dynamic Brakes for SD70M-2 & ES44DC
Post by: Fan Railer on November 15, 2014, 09:05:35 am

Here is a showcase of the extended range dynamic brake feature that I've included as part of the physics mods for the EMD SD70M-2 and the GE ES44DC locomotives. The key feature here is the distinctive sawtooth profile of the extended range portion of the dynamic brake curve, something that has not been properly simulated in TS2015 (Railworks) until now. Here are the operational parameters that I factored in when programming the mods for these two specific locomotives:

1. EMD SD70M-2 (EMD 16-710G3C-T2; 4300 THP)
 a. Starting tractive effort of 163,000 lbs (7725.06 kN) up to 8.486 mph.
 b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,685 hp (2,750 kW).
 c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 86,850 lbs (386.328 kN) from 22.4 mph to 9 mph; extended range sawtooth function between those speeds; linear fade from max brake effort @ 9 mph to 0 lbs @ 3 mph.
 d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 4,556 hp (3,400 kW).
 e. Increased weight of 177 metric tons (390,214.2 lbs).
 f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.
 g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 187 gallons per hour.

2. GE ES44DC (GE GEVO-12; 4400 THP)
 a. Starting tractive effort of 142,000 lbs (800.68 kN).
 b. Continuous tractive effort of 105,680 lbs (470.08 kN) @ 12.9 mph.
 c. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,800 hp (2835.821 kW).
 d. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 74,675 lbs (332.171 kN) @ 26.2 mph to 9 mph; extended range sawtooth function between those speeds; linear fade from max brake effort @ 9 mph to 0 lbs @ 3.5 mph.
 e. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 5,212.6 hp (3,890 kW).
 f. Increased weight of 190.509 metric tons (420,000 lbs).
 g. Maximum speed of 75 mph.
 h. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 210 gallons per hour.
 i. Adjusted HUD ammeter limits so that max traction amps is 1800 and max dynamic brake amps is 920. This is based off of info from BNSF ES44DC operating manual.
Title: TS2015: GE ES44C4 Mod Pack
Post by: Fan Railer on November 17, 2014, 04:36:04 pm

This is the Kuju GE BNSF ES44AC & ES44C4 Physics Modification pack.

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the "US Loco & Asset Pack" available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/208306/ (http://store.steampowered.com/app/208306/)

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Physics adjustments made around the existing sounds.

The purpose of this pack is to adjust the locomotive weight, motor amperage limits, and traction and braking effort values for more realistic operation.

This pack includes the ability to switch between the standard ES44AC and the newly coded physics for the ES44C4. More details below.

General Parameter Change Log:
2. Adjusted tractive effort ratings and curves for individual locomotive variants based on the specifications listed below.
3. Adjusted dynamic brake effort ratings and curves for individual locomotive variants based on the specifications listed below.

Specific horsepower and tractive effort ratings used in calculation for individual locomotive variants:
1. GE ES44AC Standard Adhesion (GE GEVO-12; 4700 GHP)
a. Starting tractive effort of 180,000 lbs (800.68 kN) up to 8.2714 mph.
b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 4,390 hp (3,276.12 kW); efficiency rating of 93.4%.
c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 117,000 lbs (520.442 kN) from 16.51 mph to 3 mph; linear fade from that speed to 0 lbs @ 1 mph.
d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 5,145.6 hp (3,840 kW).
e. Increased weight of 188.7 metric tons (416,008.02 lbs).
f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.
g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 210 gallons per hour.
h. Units numbered 5718-5747

2. GE ES44C4 (GE GEVO-12; 4700 GHP)
a. Starting tractive effort of 144,000 lbs (640.544 kN) up to 11.44 mph.
b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 4,390 hp (3,276.12 kW); efficiency rating of 93.4%.
c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 78,000 lbs (346.962 kN) from 25.085 mph to 3 mph; linear fade from that speed to 0 lbs @ 1 mph.
d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 5,212.6 hp (3,890 kW).
e. Set weight @ 126 metric tons (277,779.6 lbs). This is to simulate the total lowered axle load on the powered axles, since the core game code only differentiates powered trucks from non-powered trucks, and not powered axles from non-powered axles.
f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.
g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 210 gallons per hour.
h. Units numbered 8018-8047

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

Title: TS2015: M8 Physics Mod Updated for DTG Patch
Post by: Fan Railer on December 02, 2014, 08:04:35 am

I have yet again updated the M8 physics mod pack to ensure compatibility with the patch that was released by DTG for the M8 on December 2, 2014. The patch address several issues, but fails to correct the physics values, horn, door, and traction sounds. One important issue that WAS addressed was the dynamic brake behavior in relation to the master controller position. Dynamics will now apply as soon as a minimum reduction application is made. This mod pack has been updated to accommodate that fix.

This is the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 Physics Upgrade Pack, 2015 Edition (12/2/14 M8 Patch Compatible).

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 EMU Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258647/ (http://store.steampowered.com/app/258647/)

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. The Leslie RS2M + door sound pack will be released separately from this pack.

The purpose of this pack is to improve accuracy of the tractive and braking effort curves, reflect the TE limit in the on-screen TE monitor, and tweak car weights slightly.

Parameter Change Log:
1. Modified Tractive Effort and Dynamic Brake curves based on 806 kW power rating per car and 11,582.7306 lbf (51.52255 kN) starting effort and 16,216.4234 lfb (72.134 kN) braking effort.
1a. Starting acceleration is now calibrated to the specified 2.0 mph/s from 0 mph to 35 mph.
1b. Maximum braking rate is now 3.0 mph/s attainable from ~25 mph to 0 mph.
2. Maximum sustainable speed limited to 100 mph via changes to TE curve file.
3. Ampere parameters adjusted so that cab TE monitor display accurate to the actual tractive effort being applied to the rail.
4. Weights modified to match those in manual; A car = 65.7 metric tons, B car = 65.22 metric tons
5. Updated brake pressure specs to be compatible with the M8 patch that was released on 12/2/14.

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Proceed to open folders until your directory reads "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\M8Pack01\".
3. Then open the "Railworks_MNR_Kawasaki_M8_Physics_Mod.rar" file.
4. Highlight all folders in the .rar file and drag them into the file directory from step 1.
5. Click "OK" when if asks you to Confirm File Copy.
6. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to confirm.

Thank you for downloading and installing.
Enjoy =)

Title: TS2015: DTG Miami AMTK P42DC Comprehensive Mod Pack Release (Sounds & Physics)
Post by: Fan Railer on December 18, 2014, 11:16:29 pm
Well, that was a relatively quick turnaround for a release :P

This is the DTG Miami P42DC Physics & Sound Upgrade and HEP Version Addition pack.

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased BOTH of the following for this pack to be fully functional:
1. Miami - West Palm Beach Route Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/222627/
2. Metro-North P32 AC-DM 'Genesis' Loco Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258655/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS BOTH A PHYSICS AND SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Sound mods were made to accommodate the physics mods; more details below.

The purpose of this pack is to correct some physics errors in the DTG Miami P42DC locomotive, swap in the horn and bell sounds from the P32AC-DM, and add proper door sounds for the passenger cars.

General parameter Change Log:
1. Adjust Tractive Effort down to real world values. Default TE ratings are too high.
2. Adjust Braking Effort curve to simulate realism.
3. Adjust amp limits so that the in cab ammeter displays properly.
4. Increased fuel capacity from 1800 gallons to 2200 gallons.
5. Increased air brake application and release rates. Original rates are painfully and unrealistically slow.
6. Adjusted values in the AmtrakP42DCEngine.proxyxml file to accommodate the change in the RPM range for the non-HEP locomotive and the HEP locomotive.
6a. Prime mover sounds should now play all the way up to 1050 rpm, and idle pitch has been moved up from 315 rpm to 468 rpm.

This pack also converts the NC locomotives (the locomotives that do not have crew members in the cabs) into HEP running versions.
The parameter changes for those locomotives are the same as the ones for the non-HEP versions except for the following:
1. Change RPM range to 900 - 901 and adjusted fuel consumption rates based on information here: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?4,1871287.
2. TE Ratings for the HEP versions are lowered realistically, since power is reduced by HEP draw. Specific values used are stated below.

Technical specifications for both non-HEP version and HEP version:

1. GE P42DC (GE 7FDL-16; 4250 THP; no HEP)
 a. Starting tractive effort of 63,000 lbs (280.25 kN) up to 23.087 mph

Appreciate the release! Everything sounds great judging from the videos, although the Amfleet noises seem a bit too loud! By the way, would you recommend the Miami route? I'm tempted to pick it up, but the engine sounds for the P42 sound atrocious, which is a major factor of me not impulse buying it. Don't know if this has been answered but does this also feature the ENTIRE Tri-Rail network? It only mentions the Amtrak stops, so that's a bit unclear.

By the way, do you ever plan on updating the M8 motor and track noises? That way make driving the NEC an even more immersive experience now that DTG has finally fixed the FPS issue on them.

Once again thanks for your awesome releases!

Yes, it is still worth buying. The route spans the ENTIRE tri-rail system, and tri-rail DLC is coming sometime in 2015. The P42 sounds are the old G-TRAX sounds, but I have plans to sub in the P32AC-DM sounds sometime in the future; in fact, I already started by subbing in the horn sounds released in the pack above and below.

And yes, I am going to update the M8 motor sounds. I don't know about the track sounds yet though.
Title: TS2015: DTG Miami AMTK P42DC Comprehensive Mod Pack UPDATED
Post by: Fan Railer on December 20, 2014, 04:02:04 pm
I got several requests to include the ability to use the steel bell in the mod pack, so I have updated accordingly:

READ the readme file for information on the mod pack and installation instructions. For once, the readme file is too long for me to fit it in the description, so here is a short excerpt, detailing the update made to the pack:

NOTE: This pack now comes with the ability to switch between the e-bell and the steel bell. Follow the below instructions to switch between the two bells:

OWNER'S MANUAL:
Once installation is complete, the default bell that is being used is the e-bell. In order to change the bell that is used, follow the instructions below:
1a. Open folders until directory reads "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\Miami\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\P42DC\Cab"
1b. You will see two folders; "E-bell" and "Steel Bell".
2. Open the respective folder that contains the horn.proxyxml bell you want to use and copy the file (CTRL + C).
3. Proceed back to the directory from step 1a.
4. Paste the selected file (CTRL + V); overwrite when prompted.
5. Bell swap should be complete. Run TS2015 to confirm.

Enjoy and thanks for downloading =)

wow very long train. How many passengers do you think the 44 car can hold?
The number of revenue seats for passengers on the auto train is split between 4 coaches (~96 seats per coach) and 6 sleepers (~28 passengers per sleeper car). The remaining 6 cars are diners, lounges, and a crew sleeper. Each auto rack can hold 10 vehicles, but obviously there are no passengers in the auto racks.

This works out to about 550 revenue seats in each auto train consist.

Sorry to bother you but when I Install your physics mod for the HHP-8, the engine for some reason becomes unresponsive, the panagraphs and screens don't work, and the engine is unresponsive to pretty much every command, but the engine does load correctly without error so that's why i am stumped, any suggestions?

I'm going to have to inspect that to see if there is some kind of bug in the coding I put in. I personally haven't experienced problems. You're positive you installed the mod correctly, yes?

Hey Fanrailer
Steam is having a sale and i was wondering if they ever fixed the Florida route and the viewliner cars? or is the product still glitchy  (the answer will determine if i buy or not lol)

Thanks :)

I don't know about those two routes specifically, but the game is relatively stable, and plays fine.  Load times are still a problem, even though I'm using a Solid State Drive, they take forever.

Title: TS2015: M8 Motor Sound Pack Released
Post by: Fan Railer on March 08, 2015, 11:11:22 pm

Hate that the default Railworks M8 sounds like the Hitachi Javelin? Well, despair no more. Here is EVERY SINGLE MOD I have ever made to the M8 neatly combined into one mod pack, including the most recent mod, which finally replaces the recycled Hitachi motor sounds with custom motor sounds specifically for the M8.

This is the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 Comprehensive Upgrade Pack Version 1.0 (12/2/14 M8 Patch Compatible).

In order to utilize this freeware physics & sound upgrade, you must have purchased the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 EMU Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258647/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

The purpose of this pack is to improve accuracy of the tractive and braking effort curves, reflect the TE limit in the on-screen TE monitor, and tweak car weights slightly.

In addition, this pack incorporates several important replacement sounds, notably for the horn, air conditioning loop, and traction motor sounds.

Title: TS2015: Bombardier M7 Motor Sound Set for Kawasaki M8 Released
Post by: Fan Railer on March 28, 2015, 11:39:00 am

Hey guys! Welcome to my first successful real time recording of my TS2015 development work. During these 4 hours, I show you the in depth process of creating motor sound code from what is basically scratch. We start off with the code structure from my pre-existing M8 motor sound mod, and slowly but surely morph it into a fully functional and accurate M7 motor sound set. I realize that 4 hours is pretty long, so just to make sure you know what you're watching me do, here is a rough table of contents:
0:00 - 19:14 -- Showing the M8 motor sound set before modification and setting up the New Haven Line for the BETA runs.
19:14 - 2:10:46 -- Major proxyxml coding modifications are made to the existing M8 motor sound proxyxml file to turn it into the M7 motor sound proxyxml file.
2:10:46 - 2:19:05 -- Setting up file structure and prepping for BETA test rounds.
2:19:05 - 3:53:30 -- BETA test runs are conducted in order to iron out any inaccuracies / "impurities" in how the sound pack performs. Lots of minor coding adjustments and tweaks are done in order to increase accuracy and test functionality.
3:53:30 - 4:09:40 -- Packaging the mod pack to RWA standards and uploading to Mediafire.
4:09:40 - 4:11:00 -- Opening Windows Live Movie Maker to begin rendering this long ass development tutorial video...#inception

Thanks for watching and I hope some of you up and coming developers can learn something useful from this. Enjoy =D

List of general changes; specific changes for each specific locomotive located below:
1. Modified tractive effort and braking effort curves.
2. Modified power ratings @ alternator and @ wheel.
3. Modified cab car fuel capacity.
4. Removed coupler slack.
5. Changed brake pipe normal pressure from 90 PSI to 110 PSI. Actual Metra equipment runs with 90 PSI in the brake pipe, but the game engine runs the brake gauges a little better if the pressure is set to 110 PSI. In addition, there is an issue with custom built consists with the cab leading not taking power if the brake pipe is set to 90 PSI. A future edition of this physics mod will be released to correct this problem; at which time, we will revert back to using the 90 PSI brake pipe.
6. Modified the cab car so that it does not provide tractive effort to the train set; only the locomotive applies tractive effort after the installation of this mod.
7. Adjusted cab car HUD ammeter upper limit from 1500 to 1800.

Version 2.0 of this mod will include a signature JohnS brake fix that will correct the air gauge functionality and allow a return back to the prototypical 90 PSI brake pipe rating.

NOTE: Although the F40PH-3 locomotive comes default with a neat HEP mode toggle ability, this only affects engine RPM; tractive power is not affected, so I have included two sets of physics that the user can switch between. Specifics are listed below for each set of physics. Instructions on how to perform the switch are included in the owner's manual, also located below.

Technical specifications:

1. EMD F40PH-2 (EMD 645; 3200 THP; no HEP)
   a. Starting tractive effort of 65,000 lbs (289.1344 kN)
   b. Continuous tractive effort of 38,240 lbs (170.1 kN) @ 16.31 mph
   c. Dynamic Brake effort of 35,000 lbs (177.93 kN) @ 55 mph; extended range sawtooth curve between 55 mph and 36 mph. Fade to 0 lbs @ 0.5 mph (not in use)
   d. Wheel horsepower of 2,850 hp (2,390 kW) @ 30 mph
   e. Maximum speed of 103 mph
    f. Engine RPM range = 410 - 900
   g. RPM change rate (rpm/second) = 18
    h. Fuel consumption range (gph)= 4 - 155
   i. Weight = 260,142.8 lbs (118 metric tons)
   j. Fuel capacity = 1500 gallons
   k. Max traction amps = 1785
   l. Max brake amps = 700 (not in use)

2. EMD F40PH-2 (EMD 645; 3200 THP; 500 kW HEP [7 - 11 cars])
   a. Starting tractive effort of 65,000 lbs (289.1344 kN)
   b. Continuous tractive effort of 38,240 lbs (170.1 kN) @ 16.31 mph
   c. Dynamic Brake effort of 35,000 lbs (177.93 kN) @ 55 mph; extended range sawtooth curve between 55 mph and 36 mph. Fade to 0 lbs @ 0.5 mph (not in use)
   d. Wheel horsepower of 2,210 hp (2,390 kW) @ 22 mph
   e. Maximum speed of 103 mph
    f. Engine RPM range = 410 - 900
   g. RPM change rate (rpm/second) = 18
    h. Fuel consumption range (gph)= 24 - 155
   i. Weight = 260,142.8 lbs (118 metric tons)
   j. Fuel capacity = 1500 gallons
   k. Max traction amps = 1785
   l. Max brake amps = 700 (not in use)

NOTE: Because of they way the game engine works, subbing in these real world values does result in slower high end acceleration. Run the locomotive with the non-HEP physics if it bothers you that you can't make it to track speed.

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions:

1. Locate BNSFChicago (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Barnez\BNSFChicago)
2. Open TS2015_Metra_EMD_F40PH_&_Gallery_Cab_Car_Physics_Mod_Pack.7z
3. Drag the file folder from the .rar in step 2 into the directory you opened in step 1.
4. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check.
5. If installation is botched or does not work, to back up to original files, delete the folder from step 3.

Owner's Manual:
Once installation is complete, the pack defaults to using the non-HEP locomotive's traction physics. In order to switch between the HEP and non-HEP locomotive physics, follow the steps below:

1. Locate the following two directories:
1a. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Barnez\BNSFChicago\RailVehicles\Diesel\F40PH\Chicago
1b. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Barnez\BNSFChicago\RailVehicles\Passenger\NSbilevel\NSCabCoach\Engine
2. Within each of the two above directories, you will see two more folders labelled "HEP+" (HEP version) and "HEP-" (non-HEP version).
3. Once you've chosen which version of physics you want to run with, enter the respective folder, copy the contents inside, return to the previous directory, and paste the contents that you copied. Overwrite when asked.
4. Physics set swap should be complete; run TS2015 to confirm.
5. Expert users can run multiple physics sets at the same time if they choose. The key is to make one locomotive (driver) a HEP locomotive, and the other (no driver) a non-HEP locomotive. I'll let these expert users figure out how to do that.

NOTE: When trying to run a career scenario after installing any physics mod, you will have to bypass the "track.bin" error message that pops up by pressing "F2", then hitting save. The scenario will then be playable.

Thank you for downloading and installing.
Enjoy =)

Title: TS2015: AEM-7AC Physics & Sound Mod Released (8/23/15)
Post by: Fan Railer on August 23, 2015, 04:24:41 pm
Ever want to remanufacture your virtual AEM-7DC? Well, now you can lol:

This is the Amtrak EMD AEM-7AC & DC Physics and Sound Upgrade pack, TS2015 edition.

In order to utilize this freeware physics & sound upgrade, you must have purchased the Northeast Corridor Add-On pack available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/65232/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics & sound enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

The purpose of this pack is to correct some physics errors in the original AEM-7, correct the coupler spacing issue with the Amfleet cars in version 48.9a of TS2015, and add new horn and bell sounds.
THIS UPDATE adds AEM-7AC physics and sounds (and number restrictions). Read the "owner's manual" section for instructions on how to switch between the two physics sets.
AEM-7AC sound development was facilitated by this video:

Sound portion information:
On popular request, this pack comes with two (now three) bell sounds (low pitch and high pitch), both recorded directly off of AEM-7DC units, in addition to the K5LA (which comes with exterior and in-cab loops).
Read the "owner's manual" section for instructions on how to switch between the two different bell sounds.

NOTE: The interior E-bell sound is VERY soft, so if you don't hear it unless you're trying or the volume is up, that's normal.

Physics Parameter Change Log (DC Unit):
1. Adjusted tractive effort and braking effort curves based on real world figures available online: http://www2.hcmuaf.edu.vn/data/phamducdung/thamkhao/Mark's%20Standard-Handbook/Transportation.pdf
2. Adjusted maximum amperage ratings; 2250 for traction and 970 for braking. Traction amps based here: http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k329/mestevet/01671s11Kvsm.jpg

For more specifics on the specific values that were changed, proceed here: http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10793
