R160A / R160B Alstom ONIX Propulsion Timing Tweak Pack
« on: July 04, 2014, 03:37:03 pm »
Same deal as the R142 Alstom ONIX AC Propulsion Inverter Frequency timing vs speed tweak that I posted previously. Riding the E train between 34th Street Penn Station and Queens Plaza every day to work enables me to take the existing R160A / R160B Alstom motor sounds for OpenBVE and adjust the inverter frequency changes to the proper speeds that they change at in real life. This is the final product. The two clips below are (1) a compilation of shots of the R160 Alstom propulsion placed in an R153 body making station stops along the Q line and (2) operating the full Q Train route from Astoria to Brighton Beach:

All sounds were recycled from previously released iterations of the R142/R160 Alstom, and I do not take any credit for recording/creation of those sounds. All I take credit for is the motor sound volume/pitch vs. speed code and a few physics adjustments. Feel free to use this code in the Alstom propelled R160 that is being developed here.

Youre forgetting the background propulsion sound.

All sounds were recycled from existing trains. If I was forgetting something, I'd think it'd be pretty obvious, considering I'm on the E every morning to work. If you think I'm forgetting something, then feel free to be more specific and link me a few examples of what you think I'm forgetting.

I have made a few tweaks to the Alstom propelled R160 pack. Includes a minor timing change around 22-23 mph, and an acceleration tweak. Downloadable at the same link as previously.

I've just updated the pack one last time after extending motor pitch 8 during braking from beginning at 30 mph to beginning at 35 mph. This should be the final change.

I have been waiting for something like this for quite a while now. Every time I ride the 160s, whether its to school, to meet up with friends, to head to my cousin's, I've always noticed that something sounds different in the propulsion than the Openbve version. However, thanks to your great work Fan Railer, they are identical now, real and sim.

Looks like I'm going be playing Openbve now with this new and extraoridnary tweak  ;D
Got me addicited to this sim again Fan Railer  8)

One issue I have noticed is the fact that when I use the exterior view of the 160, its a bit messed up. The cars overlap each other. This occurs after I install your soundset.

I know the solution to that. You have to open up TrainEditor (if you have it). Open up the R160's train.dat file, go to the 2nd tab of Properties. Then where you see "Car", the "LengthOfACar" must be 18.55, not 16.

yup. the reason I never changed the length code in the .dat file is because you can also control the length of the car via the extensions file. sorry about that. I'm glad you're enjoying this though. I do my best.
