One was seeing an R160 on the (G). (Not a (F) via the (G), an actual (G))

My very favorite one is the R62A (2).

R-46 (A) train via Concourse*train took wrong lineup at 125th ended running via Concourse to BP on April Fools day in 2010.
The Infamous R-160 (D).

Everything else was a regular or special such as the R-44 (C),R-46 (C),R-68A (D)/(N)/(Q),R-62 (1)/(4),R-32 (B).

I have had quite a few, but the best one probably has to be an R46 <Q> Brighton Express.

R42 & R40 slant (D) train or what is called the Yankee specials. Ran to either Chambers Street on the (E) or 2nd Ave on the (F). I also saw an R40 slant 6 car (G) train about 6 years ago. They were using it as a shuttle between Bedford/Nostrand and Smith & 9th Streets

Some of my rarest catches:
R142a (4) train rerouted to the 6 line
R142 (5) train rerouted to the 4 line to/from woodlawn
An R143 (L) that was rerouted onto the (J) line and ran express to Myrtle - Bway.
Also a R46 (F) on the Brighton line.

Back before the service cuts i caught a R42 (M) train rerouted over the (N) line to/from Coney Island.

Don't know if this counts but i saw a R143 at kings highway on the F line, sitting on the middle track.

Last time I visited NYC, I managed to catch an R160A (N) train, instead of an R160B. Could tell from the door sounds.

Subway... I can't remember... a R46 R train at 2 Av? I'm usually not too lucky with rarities in the subway system.

For buses:
RTS on the M15 Local
Orion on the M14A

Definitely counts. I thought I was the only one who noticed that. It was signed up as an (L) when we got there, then changed to an (F) and departed from in front of us.

Yep! This is exactly what happened. It was sitting there signed up as an L train and then the conductor changed the program to the F and it departed not in service.

Here is something, probably will never see again. R40 slant (M) train at New Utrecht Ave on the (N). This was the service change due to 9/11.

A couple years ago (Around 2006), they were testing R143s on the middle track on the Culver Line almost every weekend. Not sure why.

My arrest catch was a R68A on the (N). After the R160B/R160A's took over , there were mostly R160's left. Saw this back though in 2011.

Used to happen a lot in the early 90s when I lived in Pelham. We would Sometimes get a 5 train as well. What would happen, they would send the Visiting train express downtown so they can meet up on their reg route. I miss seeing those re routes.

This was about to be a rare catch!
I was on the C train at Canal St, and they announced that it was going to run to WTC because of a sick passenger at High Street. The train cleared, only to find out that the sick passenger had been removed, and trains were back to normal.
