Ive been april fooled!!! darn it! I was so happy about the f express coming back until I heard this. But luckily, May 7 and 8 2014 all northbound F trains will run on the culver express from Ave X to 18th avenue 10:15AM to 3PM. The MTA says: Beginning Saturday, June 7th customers in Queens, Manhattan, plus Brooklyn will benefit from an increase and reroute in subway service. This will include restoration of (V) and (M) service, plus an increase in (F) service, with a limited peak direction express from Coney Island to Church Ave. The new service enhancements are part of an estimated $7.9 million slated to be invested throughout the city.

These service additions are part of the MTA’s 2013-2014 Service Enhancement Program aimed at increasing and improving services for customers.  Additions to (M) service will provide a direct link between Bushwick and Downtown Manhattan, operating following the current (M) train schedule.

In South Brooklyn, the (F) will now run an express route, in the peak direction between 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on weekdays, stopping at Coney Island-Stillwell Av, West 8 St, Neptune Av, Avenue X, Kings Highway, 18th Av,  and Church Av, then making all (F) stops to Jamaica-179 St.

In Queens and Manhattan, a new train line named the (V) will run between Forest Hills-71st Av and 2nd Ave, making all local stops, and following the path of the normal (M), operating under the (M) 's current schedule. “We continue to work hard for our customers by strengthening service whenever we have sustainable resources to do so,” said NYC Transit President Carmen Bianco. “This restoration and addition of subway service will increase the reliability and convenience of trips in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan

Transit / MTA considers express f train (culver line)
« on: March 09, 2013, 08:41:02 pm »
The express train would make less than half the stops the F line currently makes. (March 9, 2013 6:37 PM)

GRAVESEND - A faster ride into Manhattan could be in store for South Brooklyn soon, as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) says it's considering an express F train.

At a recent City Council hearing, the MTA said it was considering an express line on the route. Currently, there's 20 stops between Manhattan and Coney Island, but an express train would make less than half of the stops.

The MTA did not say when a decision will be made or when a plan would be implemented
