Title: Putting Abandoned stations in a route
Post by: BeeRyDavis on December 24, 2011, 04:45:18 pm
This is just an idea, but it would be kinda cool if there were abandoned (ghost) stations in some of the routes that have them. Like the 6, 1, Manhattan bound Q or B.

IIRC, the old (N) Line from b-v-e.info has an abandoned station, but yes, it would be nice if we would have some in the new routes

I believe the 1 will have the abandoned 91st Street featured.

And Phantom909 doesn't mind one bit? I mean, would making abandoned stations in the routes pose a danger just like making emergency exits?

Considering the fact that the locations and existence of the NYC Subway's abandoned stations is so well documented, I doubt that the knowledge of abandoned stations gained from BVE routes will pose a danger.

I think the F express to 179th passes by the Bergen Street Lower Level , which is also abandoned.

It does, and it is abandoned.

And creating a route to look like the real thing already doesn't pose a danger?

As Hammers said as well, they are documented on sites fairly well as it is anyway.

I see. Both of you do make a point.
I brought that upbecause I wondered what others would think about it. I'm not trying to strike the idea down - I actually would like to see abandoned stations in the route (especially Myrtle Ave with the Masstransiscope).

The F I believe has the abandoned lower level of Bergen Street, in one of the runs, the BVE route actually runs through it as an express.  So, there you go, abandoned station in a BVE route.

The station is there, but it is not realistic (The Real Bergen Street Lower level is dimly lit with incandescent lightbulbs and those lights are off nearly all the time)

im working on the new F [version 5] and it will feature the correct bergen st lower level , with a dim lit area

The 1 and 4 already feature the abandoned stations in their skeletons. I will try to recreate how the station used to look before the graffiti(because obviously graffiti doesn't make a station look any more abandoned than a typical subway tunnel) and then add dim lights and some wear and tear to give it that "abandoned" feel.

Warn faded platforms too maybe dead light bulbs and some dull steel beams or something to add to what BStyles said.

Most of the abandoned stations in the NYC Subway system have the lights turned off (regardless of whether or not they function)
