For some reason the train is not accelerating for me..
OpenBVE glitches occasionally at times. If the train does not take power, then reset to emergency, move the power handle to neutral, then release brakes and try applying power again.

The ALP-46A is here! Well, at least the Amtrak version. The NJT version should be up some time later tonight:

OpenBVE HD EXCLUSIVE: NJT ALP-46A Pack V1.0 Release Video (8/27/13) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOJh57OQ2Q8#)
This train, along with the next several that I am releasing are dedicated to NJT engineer John Gaughran, the famous Jtgshu on railroad.net, who unexpectedly passed away on the morning August 26th, 2013.

I installed the ALP-46 Package in the ...\legacycontent\train folder and the MAV-120a in ...\legacycontent\railway\object folder. WhenI start up OpenBVE and select each of the items (train and route) the start button is not enabled. I'd like to be able to run the ALP-46 as it looks great. What am I doing wrong?
Help appreciated. Thanks.

A screenshot would be helpful.

I tried but the upload folder is full. The only thing to take a snapshot of is the main menu of both items selected and the start button disabled.

Mr. Mike,
Possible problem source: in the openBVE menu,
select one \train\ALP-46\subdirectory\ which holds file Train.dat
before program may enable start button.
HK
-
The subdirectory is empty. I went down to the subdirectory for the MAV-120a and tried each of the selections but no start button. Should the ALP-64 subdirectory be empty?
Mike
-
Each train must have it's own subdirectory under \Train\
Each of the train subdirectories must have these: Train.dat, Sound.cfg, Panel.cfg or Panel2.cfg or Panel.Animated, Extensions.cfg, WAV and PNG and BMP files, etc.
In the program menu, when you choose a train subdirectory, it must have above files, or the start button will not be enabled.
If these files are missing, you have not properly installed the train.

Yea, the way I partitioned the ALP packs was "train/ALP-46/NJT (or Amtrak) ALP-46/ .dat files". If you just follow the readme instructions and drag the folder into your train folder, you should be able to load them into openbve with no problem. All the files are there already.
-
I do not know what I did the first time but it worked when I did it gain. I am going to try it later.
Thanks for getting me straightened out!
Mike
-
Well, getting closer. I tried loading up the ALP-46 with a route and I only get a large white box just left of center instead of the cab. I've tried all of the keys but nothing brings me the cab. The loco starts, stops, and does everything else properly.
Any ideas???
Again, as always, help appreciated.

Mike,
You have hosed up the train files?
You should may be start over and delete the ALP-46 trains you have already installed,
download a fresh copy of FanRailer's latest ALP-46, use 7ZIP to extract the RAR file,
then move those extracted folders under the main folder \openBVE\Train\, without altering or rearranging.
-
Okay, as suggested, I deleted the ALP-46 directory and all files and subdirectories in it.
I have the following installation files:
Amtrak ALP-46 Expansion Pack V1.0.rar
ALP-46 Train Pack V1.0.7z
NJT ALP-46 Train Pack (Complete Exteriors) V1.0.rar
NJT ALP-46A Pack V1.0.rar
In what order should I install them?
Mike
-
Each of those are complete trains, so do NOT overwrite one with another!
The install order does not matter, just do not overwrite one with another.
I would note the RAR upload dates and keep only the latest version of each consist, for example keep one NJT and one Amtrak.

It doesn't matter. All of the .rar files are made to be independent of each other. Keep in mind the file hosted on the BVE station site is only the ALP-46 (just the NJT version). On my mediafire site are the other three versions (the alp-46 for amtrak, the alp-46a for amtrak, and the alp-46a for njt).
ie, the two files you stated above ("ALP-46 Train Pack V1.0.7z" and "NJT ALP-46 Train Pack (Complete Exteriors) V1.0.rar")
are the same thing.
Once again, to install, simply open up the .rar file, and drag the file folder into your trains directory.
(openBVE/trains/)
And as stated before, no overwriting should be necessary if you've already deleted the previous files from your directory.

I found what is happening but not why it is happening. The extract is failing somehow and putting everything in one directory. So I am playing "games" with the extract to get it to work. I am extracting to a temp directory and moving it under trains.
Thanks for your help. I know this is going worth it when I finally get it to work!

BEAUTIFUL! I Love it. Great job.
I noticed the gauges are not working. Is that me or is that the next release?
Thanks for the help.

I am glad you got it to work. Yes, the ALP panel and the Comet I Cab panel are, for this release, static. I am still waiting on someone to step up and offer to animate them for me. Either that, or eventually, I'm going to take the time out of my busy schedule and learn how to do it myself.

I wish I had the talent that you and others have to create such great things for the rest of us. A million thanks for your works.
