Rainy weather scenery
« on: November 24, 2012, 02:15:26 pm »
I've noticed that several of the trains I've downloaded have windshield wipers that when turned on look convincing. Is there any rainy or stormy weather routes that can be downloaded, so that use of wipers looks more realistic?

The southbound (G) here has a rainy weather scenario which you can use with those trains.

I downloaded the southbound G and installed it. Then set it on auto-drive and let the train run its route. Amazing detail and it looks great. Didn't experience too much lag. Sure enough after it exited the tunnel going to the last stop, it was raining outside and the wipers fit right in. That rain and animated wipers is just what I was looking for. Thank you. I turned off the AI and proceeded forward. In awhile the track disappeared and the train ran into the back of another, then it was only gray out the front window. Like the gray on this forum. When typing here, its very hard to see the blinking curser and know where you are in a sentence or paragraph. Hey, thanks for that G route with rain. Nice.

The reason the track disappeared is because the route was done. You ran into the back of an AI train.

Hi, is there any more rainy route scenery, like perhaps it raining out in the country or going thru town with buildings?

The old BVE2 Australian route Richmond-Kurrajong has rain, lightning and thunder.  There's a fine weather version also.
It runs in OpenBVE but has some of the usual transparency issues inherent with old BVE images.  Here's the website:

The UK's NWM has routes with thick fog, not sure about rain though.
I believe there are other UK routes that do have rain, but don't recall which ones.  Check here:

Anthony Bowden's Birmingham-Cross City South route has rain.

Some of the London Underground routes have rain as well.

The car is essentially a texture, not an object, so things can't bounce off of them. (Essentially, the rain is kinda just a texture)
