Nice work. Based on some of the images, can we expect a 1970s version of the route at some point?

As requested by JayJay85, here are the line maps for the current route options for the 6-line.

Manhattan-bound 6 local from Pelham Bay Park

Manhattan-bound 6 Pelham Express/Lexington Av Local

Manhattan-bound 6 local from Parkchester

A couple of things: 1) The dimensions are correct so they should be able to fit onto the 142/142A trains that are under development and/or available for download and 2) I'm aware the line maps are not exactly as they appear on the cars in real life; it was intentional.

The new design looks nice. Very crisp and clean and it complements the forum redesign from a few months ago. The new downloads page is a welcome change as well. If I may make a suggestion though. If possible, could we get the routes organized by route letter/number? It would make it easier to download older routes and trains for those who haven't done so already.

Now I'm a bit concerned. This is a train simulator, right? I know it looks a bit like Silent Hill, but we don't need a story with a thousand characters like an actual Silent Hill game.

While these screenshots look nice (despite being slightly reminiscent of a Resident Evil game :D), it looks as though this game will be a stew of anachronisms. In some places, it has this '80s-'90s vibe with the station designs and the redbirds being the train of choice. However, other elements, including some of the stations, have a more modern vibe. Of course, the developers could be taking the Batman approach and not have it in any particular time-frame.

If you have been following my posts on NYCTF, this really isn't news to you. If you haven't however, I've recently taken to recreating rollsign curtains from various subway car fleets. Here's a small sample of what I've been doing.

R44 front (1971)

R27-38 side route (1984)

R68 north terminal (1986)

If any developers need any sign curtains made for their trains (such as the retro versions of the R44 and R46 that have been hinted at), please feel free to ask. No fictional routes/destination though.

Eagerly awaiting the release of the full D-line. And great work on the tracks MrRailfan.

Very retro. I like it.

Once again, Mr Railfan comes through with the photo panel. Looks nice. Strike that, the entire thing looks beautiful.

Some Pics of the R201. So pitiful of the modding.
<pictures removed>
I think its time for this era of mine to end.
Tests were accomplished, but the results came out not for expectations.
These expectations were sadly not met, with broken promises
too little appreciation and too little desire.
Sigh, what a bore. doesnt matter what i do
fictional- too much carbon copies, plus the amount of inflation it causes.
Enjoy the pics.
also, dont ask for this train, because more than likely, most of you cant support it.

While this is ultimately your decision and I respect that, I am sorry you've stopped modding the trains. Your work was quite impressive. The problem is that it may have been too impressive. I don't know what kind of computer you use that allows you to actually run your trains, but for the vast majority, even those with relatively high-end computers, the trains would barely load, much less run. That's why you haven't gotten the feedback you were expecting. We can't comment on things like how it handles, propulsion or the like without being able to run the trains. However, it is what it is and I think I can safely speak for everyone here and say that your work was appreciated, both in the WIP photos you posted and for those fortunate enough to run them, actually play with these trains.

can someone do the 6 please

I may get around to doing the 6 line, but not right away. To be quite honest, the 4, 5, 6, and 7 will likely be the last ones done, if they're done at all. With that said, here's the J (set from Jamaica Center to Marcy Av) in the same style the current line maps for the 7 are in.

These are perfectly done. Good job. But I don't understand why the N train goes with the R train from City Hall to Court St. Doesn't it travel to Brooklyn trought the Manhattan Bridge ?

Thanks. During the overnight hours, the N runs via the R line between Canal St and DeKalb Av. Well, they did before the Montague Street tube closure last August.

Check out these new maps below:

Take a look at the blue LEDs on the M line map.

Art & Graphic Design / R142/143 Strip Maps (Version 3.0)

People who follow me here may know that I sometimes create strip maps for the routes available for BVE/openBVE. What you may not know is that I've been doing this off and on for about five years now. Come to think of it, it's probably one of my first Illustrator projects I did. My inspiration came from lilbluefoxie's strip maps over on NYC Transit Forums way back in 2009. My first attempts at replicating this for other lines, both real and fictional, were hit and miss to be generous, especially since it was my first foray with vector graphics programs. I'd show you, but since I no longer have access to the POS desktop I created them on. My second attempt which, while better than the first, looking back on it today, looks a bit cartoonish. Take a look.

Note the small fonts for everything, the fugly-looking bullets. After a while, I decided to make them look a bit more realistic.

While the station/borough divider fonts are still small, the bullets look much better, don't they? I updated them again to fix that and other issues.

Ignore the fictional transfers.

The fonts are now legible from a distance (as they'd have to be if this were a real strip map found on a train). It even includes the "map not in use" cut out that you'd find on the trains.

I mention all of this because, once again, I've completely started from scratch. Call me a perfectionist, but like all of my work I do for here and BVEStation, I have to like it and if I don't, I will fix it. Eventually. (My perfectionist streak is always trumped by a lack of time. :D) Taking inspiration from this SubChat post, I've decided to go for an even more realistic approach for this new update.

While not an exact replica of the ones found on the 142s (besides the addition of the 2's local stops, my personal preference has the font mostly in Akzidenz Grotesk instead of Helvetica, among other minor details), the row of 64 total available stops, the location of the stops' "indicator lights" and everything else are all based on what one would find on an actual strip map on one of the trains and where they'd be in relation to everything else.

While I'm not taking request right now, I will be posting other line maps as I see fit. Stand by for that.

If I had to wager a guess, I think there may be a problem with how the interchangable displays (route signs, interior LEDs, etc) are rendered. Like I said, it's just a guess and I could be wrong.

Of course the Flushing-bound 7 isn't detailed. That route was released way back in 2000 or '01, when neither the BVE software, nor most medium range computers for that matter, were able to handle the graphics-intensive routes of today.
