Title: How Do I Make A Train that is not Gray?
Post by: BVERailer on June 30, 2015, 09:19:54 pm
Hello BVEStation. I am wondering how I can make a train that is not gray because some people make their trains gray. I am aiming for an R62 mostly, but I would also like to make an NJ Transit ALP-45DP.

You have to create an exterior object in one of the applicable formats and code your series of objects into an 'extensions.cfg' file.

Look at the wiki pages here:

I am not that good at coding. The wiki says I need OS ATS1.dll, but whenever I load a train with that plugin, it says "A train plugin OS ATS1.dll caused the train to not load" or something like that. I really want an R62A with no gray exterior.

Making a train isn't exactly simple. You can learn how from this tutorial:
http://www.roman-road.co.uk/temp/tutorial/ (http://www.roman-road.co.uk/temp/tutorial/)
The tutorial is written for BVE4 but there is very little difference when applying the knowledge to OpenBVE routes.
To make the "exterior" you need to be a reasonably competent object builder.

If the train has no exteriors it will load as gray boxes. As far as BVE is concerned, the "train" is really only the physics.

I know that now, thank you very much.
