Title: R160 and R179 i was on
Post by: Dr. Subway18 on January 07, 2012, 11:40:52 am
I'm having trouble figuring out if i was on a R160 or a R179 (ON the F train in Manhattan to Queens) i was sure of i was on a R160 until i saw the BVE R179. This train was brand new inside and out no exaggeration like virgin steel. Idk all about them or how each one rides because i live in the south where people think a subway is only a sandwich and the diesel rules the rails( CSX and Norfolk Southern). Closest subway is 126 miles from me in Atlanta. I moved from NY in 2001 because my sister was killed in the trade center. i visit frequently to visit to see family and the most beautiful pieces of machinery ever built, the NYC subway cars, even the ugly ones. can some tell me if it could have been a R179 or a R160 that they pulled out closet lol.

You were on a R160. Not even one 179 has been built yet.

Maybe it's the first run for that set after being "cleaned"?
(Washed, Garbage taken out from the inside)

Exactly, like the others said, the train you were on was fresh after being cleaned, it could not possibly have been an R179, since none have even been started being built yet, let alone put in service.

The BVE version of the R179 does NOT depict what the real R179 will look like.

There are rumors floating around that they will be quite similar to the R160's, otherwise nobody knows
