Title: OpenBVE + Steam = ???
Post by: [CT1660] on September 02, 2011, 10:50:52 am
1) Open Steam (for those who have it)
2) Select "Add Game"
3) Select "Add Non-Steam Game
4) Find the Executable for OpenBVE
5) Add to library
6) ? ? ?
7) PROFIT!

In a nutshell:

For Steam users (those who play Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, etc.), i've noticed that you can add OpenBVE as a Non-Steam game, yet when the game is set to full screen, it seamlessly adds the Steam overlay like if it were a Steam game

thought this might be an interest for OpenBVE players who have Steam, since Steam has a voice chat and a text chat, and one can start a group chat, whether voice or text, and can have a similar experience like Teamspeak, for example if TeamSpeak is down.

i mentioned this to error46146 about it, since he's the only admin i have direct contact with.

i took the photos directly from the screen as this machine had no internet (might get it back today) and no USB drive in handy. i'm using my iPhone's tethering plan for now.

Yeah, its pretty well known. I only do it since my Steam window is always open and I could easily launch it from there instead of going back to the desktop

Had this when it was BVE2/4.  Really had no benefits to it but most of my non-steam games are already on Steam.  Then again I'm rarely on Steam now to begin with.

If only we could introduce portals into BVE routes. Not the elevated-to-tunnel kind, but build a fictional route where an elevated line runs into a portal placed on the wall of a building in Manhattan, and instantly emerges from that portal somewhere in Brooklyn.

If you haven't played Portal or Portal 2, try them. I recommend them both.
