Yes, you can easily calculate the exact number of trees in your forest. If you read the tutorial you will see that you can precisely define how many trees to place and what density to use.

This is very good, it has doubled or tripled my FPS, thanks!

At first, I got a lengthy error message that some plugin DLLs couldn't be loaded (see attachment). Would you mind looking at it?

Then I went to those DLLs' properties window and enabled them, so they work, but it would be nice if I didn't have to do this manually.

I have the pleasure of announcing the availability of a new developer tool, ForestBuilder version 1.6. This software helps route developers to create nice and natural looking forests, villages, car parks or any other locations where randomly placed repeated objects are used.

This application is the product of Managed Code, a Hungarian programmer duo and 3Ducker, also a Hungarian programmer. Its documentation was written by Tibitrain and translated to English by myself.

ForestBuilder 1.6 is immediately available from the BVE Klub website. An 11 page long illustrated English language tutorial is included. ForestBuilder is open source, licensed under the GPL, source code is included.

General BVE/OpenBVE / New BVE Wiki
« on: January 13, 2013, 01:49:32 pm »
Since bve-routes.com and bve.cz have stopped working the community has been in need of a BVE routes database. I decided to go ahead and create a new one and now after having worked on it for a week I would like to present you the new BVE Wiki at http://bve.shoutwiki.com.

The new wiki has inherited a lot from the BVE Routes wiki. I tried to create it with the same structure, the same categories, the same route template so that compatibility is as good as it can be.

What does this wiki already have?

There are country categories with flags and there is a Routes by country page, which also shows you the number of routes posted from those countries. We have a route template to use and of course there is a page explaining how to add a route. The wiki is not empty, I have posted 31 routes from Hungary and some from other countries.

Everyone is welcome to add routes, upload screenshots and edit pages on the new wiki. All you need to do is register at http://bve.shoutwiki.com and log in. Before you add a new route, please read the main page and the help page about posting new routes. A good starting point to add routes is the archived version of the BVE Routes Wiki.

I kindly ask those of you who have websites or blogs to post about the new wiki and add it to your links so that the entire community is aware of it.
