Some MTA Routes Gone
« on: March 30, 2011, 06:55:19 pm »
I've noticed some routes have been gone for a while like the 9, W, V and some others i can't think of right now. Could someone get me up to par with whats going on in the MTA like train retirements, route changes/discontinued routes and different route colors please?
Thanks much !

Next train fleet to be retired should be the 1964 Budd R-32's which run on the (C) and can be spotted on the (A) from time to time. Also the R-42's which run on the (J)(Z).Those car fleets should be FULLY retired in about 4-6yrs roughly.Once the R-179's come in thats when the retiring should start around 2013 or something. Then after that the 46's may go soon also.

As for routes (9) has been gone since 2004 I believe. As for the (W)(V) gone since June due to budget restrictions.
(V) is gone Orange (M) now runs to Forest Hills via Queens Blvd in place of the (V) so it a route merger.(M) no longer serves South Brooklyn to Bay Parkway.

You also forgot that (G) was extended to Church ave. and that the MTA plans to have the Second Avenue Subway completed by 2014 or 2016 IIRC, M8's on the New Haven Line started service earlier this month

The R38's are retired and are now gone as of March 2009. The R40 Slants aka R40S are gone as of June 2009. The Modified R40's have also been reefed. R42's out of ENY will begin scrapping aswell as the remaining R32's as the R179 order comes in. The R46 will be scrapped if and when the R211 order comes in so there not going anywhere for now. All R160's have been delivered. The 9 has been long gone since 2005. The V/W have been gone since last year june. G trains have been temporarily extended to Church Ave due to the Culver Rehab. The M has been recolored orange since it is now running to Forest Hills via the Chrystie Street Connection and 6Th Ave. The R44 has been reefed and now retired as of September 2010.

No they will not be reefed b\c they're too toxic. They have a lot of lead in them which is why they're being stripped aka scrapped in different yards. They may be delivered on a flatbed car train to Ohio once they're stripped for parts. Also the reefing company been packed up their s**t and left once the last barge went out.
Like I said 64 cars or 8 sets are sitting in Pitkin if in case the 32's have A\C problems again. They're supposed to run at night on (C) service but they don't idk why.
And some of you guys just repeated stuff.

The (V)(W) were discontinued on June 25, 2010.
The former Brown (M) via Nassau Street was re-routed to the 6 Av line and changed orange.
The R32 are still in service along the (C) line only.
The R38's have been out of service since March 18, 2009.
The R40 (Slants) have been out of service since June 12, 2009.
The R40M (Modified) have been out of service since August 2009.
The R42 are still in service on the (J) and (Z) lines only.
The R44 have been out of service since October 2010, though the SIR R44's are still in service.
The R46's and be found on the (A)(G)(R)(S)Rockaway Park, and at times on the (F).
