BVE/OpenBVE Support / Re: N Garbage Train AI derailment
« on: July 11, 2017, 08:00:09 pm »
Change the run interval in the route file. In the first few lines of the route file a line like this should appear:

route.runinterval 600

600 is minutes in seconds, so that train is 10 minutes ahead of you. Try changing it to zero or some obscenely large number to eliminate the AI train completely.

Transit / Re: Why not extend the 6 to South Ferry?
« on: April 14, 2017, 07:54:26 pm »
Oh I didn't bother responding to this topic because of the outlandish suggestion but might as well.

Adding another line down the two track Broadway on the 4 and 5 does nothing to ease congestion. If anything, it creates more delays on the 4 and 5 past Brooklyn Bridge. The 6 already utilizes the City Hall loop and should terminate where it is efficient.

South Ferry (10 Car) is opening this summer. The time for the loop has come to an end. Sandy bought it a few more years but now that time is up.

NYCTA Projects / Re: (WIP) Official Update Thread For The R68/R68A

That's the problem right there. It's only been two days. Take a step back and let at least a week or a month pass. As always, please wsit for the original author or development team to post updates. Speculation on the topic about progress is unproductive.

I have removed the excess posts and have come up with a solution in one post. As before, do not derail the topic, especially with hearsay.

The original developer had a last minute change to the project, and long story short, the change was sufficient enough to cause delays. Release dates are great, but unscheduled changes to the scope of the work can happen at any moment, much like MTA Capital Construction.  For those who paid for the BETA and were given one, those versions are yours to KEEP, and NOT distribute against the developer's wishes, as always. The developer of the R142A will complete the project and have it uploaded to the site in due time, but I ask all to be patient, and retain etiquette and respect for developers on the forum.

Station Talk / Re: Rating System Abuse
« on: April 04, 2017, 09:38:08 pm »
The rating system will remain in place, albeit modified in scope. Instead of being able to rate members every 15 minutes, members can only rate other members every 24 hours. Whether or not it is being abused affects a handful of members and not the entire forum. With that being said, since less than a dozen members brought this to light it goes without saying that that this is a personal issue rather than a forum-wide issue on a system that predates current memberships. Prime example: It only affects members who seem to have issues in other areas of the forum.

I would strongly recommend seeking out the source of the negative ratings rather than ask for entire system removal. But as I said before, think about what you post before you post, because that to can also lead to excess negative ratings.

I am currently in the process of scrubbing the forum of the spam. Spam, by my definition, is anything that goes against the nature or the title of the topic, whether it be personal arguments against the OP, or posts within the topic. Members must refrain from derailing topics, or posting irrelevant information, such as responses akin to text messages. It should go without warning that members reply with legible responses. I have completed the NYCTA Projects section, and I will be moving along to the other boards shortly.

NYCTA Projects / Re: The Complete IRT Development Thread
« on: March 19, 2017, 06:12:47 pm »
So how are developers deemed offical then? If I'm with a group that has been around for 5 years or so and have 2 years worth of developing (same as BVEFan), that should be offical enough. I'm just confused is all.

It isn't. It never was. Presence does not make you an official developer, and anyone can develop, however that doesn't make them "official". Training does.

OBC has been around for ten years, and BVEStation for almost fifteen. The developers mentioned, past and present, have a combined experience even longer than that. Since I have been seeing, as well as getting, a lot of negative feedback from that team and here, your name was not mentioned and posts have been removed. Secondly, I cannot validate where your information from the 7 is coming from, so I cannot tell if the route is accurate or not. The team is using the most accurate skeletons, the most of which were originally created by Joe (Phantom909), who had all the signal diagrams, A.K.A. Track maps, from MTA. Since neither of those were reported to have came from those sources, and the objects were reported to have come from third-party sources, I can neither confirm nor deny its plausibility.

Developers are deemed "official" through a variety of ways. By starting off coding short test routes or fictional routes to master proficiency and by developing trains, which BVEfan does, and they can be official in one or the other, or even both. The IRT being made by this group is coordinating their efforts into one object folder system that will hopefully spread to other routes in the BMT/IND divsions as well. I would also like to point out that developers are also held, and should hold themselves to a higher standard than most members, which means that they must be able to ignore conversations which derail topics and must avoid spam posts at all times. Much like normal members, there's no arguing with members or spammers, simply move forward and attempt to retail the topic. If that fails, ask for administrative help.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, I will gladly accept private messages. Otherwise, this topic will continue to focus on development updates.

Station Talk / Re: Rating System Abuse

I just spent about two weeks removing over three hundred posts between you, Ztraintobroad, and over a dozen other members on BVEStation, as well as mediating topics such as these, that seem to be going off course. Here are some of the reasons that I have observed, that may contribute to your poor rating.

-Topic derailment, which is also not limited to talking about other subjects in topics based solely around development.
-Arguments, whether it be in good taste or not.
-Arguments with other members
-Accusations
-Generally any other thing that I have seen that was removed.

What I have seen degraded to something like a TeamSpeak/Facebook chat at times. Topics must REMAIN ON TOPIC at all times. If it does not deal with the title of the topic then it will not be discussed in said topic. If you have issues, start a topic in the appropriate section.

Secondly, if people don't like you, then they're entitled to their opinion. You can't complain against someone who doesn't like you, that's their right, which is why I highly doubt this is just plain spamming. I highly recommend you look over some of the things that you have said over the last few months on this forum, and even perhaps take a step back from the forum and let it breathe for a bit.

The thread isn't closed. If there isn't a locked icon next to the topic then you may still ask your questions there. This topic is about the R68.

The rating system is meant as a wakeup call for members. As you can see, I have negative ratings as well. Not everyone likes what I have to say, and their opinion is noted.

Perhaps you should start looking into why your rating stands where it does, i.e. look in a mirror. Some of those members might be trying to tell you something.

NYCTA Projects / Re: The Complete IRT Development Thread

So if this is the complete IRT dev thread, shouldn't I be listed as one of the developers for the Queens bound (7)? Not trying to be smart here, just curious.

You are a developer of the 7, yes. You are not an official developer. The people mentioned above have almost a decade of experience and have come together on a massive scale.

This is also a coordinated effort between BVEStation and OpenBVE Connection to complete the IRT. Coordinated, as in this new effort now requires a complete restructuring of the object folder hierarchy. This also includes accurate information gathered from all across the IRT, something which everyone mentioned has agreed to.
