NYCTA Projects / Re: Status of Routes as of February 2014
« on: March 19, 2014, 12:15:21 am »
Look at the bottom of the post. Even though the original post was made in 2011, it has been edited multiple times throughout the years in order to update information. The information you see there is actually the most current route status.

I am fine myself this was a heads-up from other people I know who were telling me it was confusing, and even though I managed to get it, it was, just for a spur of the moment, so merely made a suggestion. :) Hopefully those who read your post YankeesPwnMets will now know so thank you! On other note, I would still appreciate it if someone gave me a heads up on the main core of what I mentioned before! Thanks!

Does anybody know (in the future) anything (it seems to have been "left out") as far as the A train being "updated" to current standards/details/etc? The old one out was/is considered "BETA" and a few things look/are..."off" lack of words to put it. I only ask because if the new D line, for example, looks (4th or 5th gen is it?) then the A can share those same high-detailed objects (of course, where the D & A share tracks). The rest of the line would just need its own independent "updating"/detailing (do mind I am only saying updating and not referring to the completion of the 2 Rockaway shuttle extensions; I already read the status about that. I figure "updating" is more "repainting" and not "building", sort of speak). Just thought I'd pitch in this question in case someone has overlooked it. Meanwhile, I'm excited about these routes (particularly the 5 and 2 train, with at least 1 End to End route) coming out! I've been waiting patiently since I've been in HS! (5+years ago haha) I would definitely love to see the 6 loop around. I mean come on, the beauty and history of City Hall cannot just be left away! Right? Hehe  ;D  :D

P.S. Something confusing on here: "Yada Yada of 2014" but Page 1 is stuff from 2011 (example) and after many pages, the only last  2 pages or so are 2014 like in this thread. The info jumps 2011-2012 but mainly stays course on 2011. The pages seem to be okay in chronological order but for those looking into it might get confused reading things about the routes, not noticing the grey, faded earlier 2011 time-stamps and hence outdated information. Maybe have monthly route status posts in their own threads? Just saying, doesn't bother me or anything but may throw off others trying to find the certain/same information (and/or don't catch on that there is a time gap).

Cheers guys! Keep up the greatness!  8)  ;D

Am I blind or there is absolutely no reference in content contributor regarding this 7 line update to contribute to? If so please tell me where, otherwise "go here" leads to dead end tracks, no pun intended.

Transit / Re: R142/A Interesting Question
« on: May 31, 2011, 08:19:34 am »
Hmmm I see. Yea it's true that the R142s/R142As don't get re-routed very much around. I mean if that's the case that a trainset may not have FIND because it doesn't get replaced around much, then it wouldn't make sense to have them on the R188s. I don't see where else a 7 train R188 would get displaced to. Compared to the 2/5 trains, however, I've seen very messed up strip maps, some lights don't work, the train can be at Jackson Av and the strip map will be lit up at 42nd St lol...*palm face.* Let's not forget how useless it is to be at 96th St and see "This Map is Not in use." Useless!! loll. If FIND maps cannot be placed at least on these R142s, don't you think it would have made more sense to make the strip map a digital display, like LED or something so if the 5 will be the 2, the entire display itself could just be changed so it can display a 2 train map?

Ohhhh I see. Wow, that would be awesome if they really did that for all car units on the R142 and R142A, and it wouldn't make sense to put those old map signs on R188s. They are so much more convenient right? I mean I do hope the rumor turns out to be true for all.

Transit / R142/A Interesting Question
« on: May 30, 2011, 12:31:20 pm »
Ever wondered how the R142s/R142As would look with the animated maps like the R160s have? Do you think MTA would ever consider replacing the interior signs of the R142s/R142As with those like the ones in the R160s? In my opinion, the R142/A interior map signs look so blah, sometimes not working, "map not in use," and overall, looks [a bit?] inferior lol. The R142s/R142As would look so much better. I always wished the MTA would ever consider that. I mean it's not like it's some major overhaul job. Merely just replacing a electronic panel board.

WOW interesting! Would be hella of a nostalgic moment to see this be implemented (R62 on 6). Another thing, sorry for the noob question but what *exactly* is CBTC? What exactly does it do? Hope it's not some type of AirTrain insanity. *Cry*
CBTC stands for=Communication-based train control some people say Computer.
From wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communication-based_train_control

Ahh I see. Yea I have seen that. Tried Googling around. That Wiki article is a bit unclear or I
Am probably a big noob lol. I wanted to see if someone can dumb it down and explain how it actually works. I Just want to be sure I got it right actually.  Sorry lol. Very slow I know.

Nice videos!

I realize that your camera has some pretty good white balance in the first video. What camera are you using?

Thanks!!!!! =D Glad ya liked! Hehe. Even though it may not be a primary-video camera, it really does take sweet videos at adjusted/default settings. I'm using a Canon EOS 550D.
