WEATHER ADVISORY - Hurricane Irene
« on: August 25, 2011, 10:13:29 pm »
Because of the Hurricane conditions all MTA New York City Transit will be closed on Saturday.

If you are near areas with large bodies of water, its suggested you evacuate as soon as possible.

I will be gone for atleast a week or two depending on the situation because I am a register disaster relief volunteer.

I will try to cover Brooklyn and other areas voluntarily with a team already made.

If you need help in packing required belongings and First Aid please visit these link below:

To back up what Imanuel said the proof is here: http://mta.info/
"The MTA is actively preparing for the impact of Hurricane Irene, coordinating with the Governor's Office, Mayor's Office and regional OEMs consistent with our Hurricane Plan. We are making arrangements to bring in extra personnel over the weekend, preparing our facilities and infrastructure by clearing drains, securing work sites against possible high winds, checking and fueling equipment, stocking supplies, and establishing plans to move equipment and supplies away from low-lying areas as needed. Because of the severity of the wind and rain associated with a hurricane, there may be partial or full shut down of our services to ensure the safety of our customers and employees. We are also prepared to implement evacuation plans if the Mayor and Governor decide that is necessary. We urge our customers to check mta.info frequently and to consider the impacts of this storm when making travel plans through the weekend." quoted from the mta's website.

You are forgetting more then that, you named only half of the east coast.

I believe whoever that lives in Zone A of New York would need to be evacuated by Saturday if necessary, I think I live in Zone B.

pretty scary. I think Gloria hit when I was four or five, which was the last major hurricane threat, but I dont remember what happened then. This is going to be the first hurricane I've actually been through

Very scary indeed.

I think I live in Zone B btw.

My next door neighbor is a weather nut and is already prepared. He putted up boards on his windows and got sandbags surrounded everywhere just in case.

I remember a year or two ago TWO trees right across the street from where I live actually fell down. Luckily no one was there.

For the first time i'm going to say this. I'm really scared of watching the news. :P

Just by watching the 5/7 day forecast im seeing every weather person saying either the words "evacuation" and/or "flood watch". Really scary

The weather gone psycho and mother nature is taking a little fit That's how i feel when I saw Hurricane Irene on the Fox 5 news and weather channel ready to hit mostly the Entire east coast including New York.

Everybody on BVE station please be safe and watch carefully and so on .

Evacuation of zone A i heard may be today and for the people who live in No zone you still gotta watch out you still aren't safe
