NYCTA Projects / Re: A to Far Rockaway [Re-Signaled]
« on: June 16, 2017, 02:38:18 pm »
I downloaded this when it was announced on Facebook, and I've gotten as far as 80th street.  No significant issues at all.

A few minor questions:

Shouldn't there be GT/ST signs before those signals. Or is the "T" sufficient.

Should it be possible to encounter a Red/Lunar signal without first seeing a Yellow?

Thanks,

Ed

is this project abandoned?  Is it still alive?  I visited your website on wix, but nothing seems newer than 2015.

Any forum people going to be at the Transit Museum any time soon?  Perhaps there should be a meetup?

General BVE/OpenBVE / Found nice controls for OpenBVE
« on: May 17, 2017, 10:31:49 am »
I'm using one of these:

I use the left for reverser, middle for controller and right for brakes.

On single handle trains, I use the right for controller/brakes, and leave the middle in the center of range as a guide for where coast is.

I set the upper left and right to operate the doors.  Considering setting the middle button for horn/whistle.

On the other hand, I've developed the habit of tooting the horn whenever I enter a station, since operating the joystick does not keep the system "active" and the screen starts to dim out and lock after ten minutes of operation.

Love it.

I've reuploaded the file here http://bvestation.com/download/282

I'm not sure what happened with the older one, but we'll look into it.  Thanks for reporting it!

Has anyone ever seen a PCC trolley for BVE?  Any MBTA rolling stock?

Content Development / Route CSV: Understanding Stations
« on: May 07, 2017, 06:35:54 pm »
I've been reading through CSV files, and the CSV file documentation at http://openbve-project.net/documentation/

I understand Track.Sta, Track.Station and Track.Stop, but when I display the route in RouteView, with Events on, I see an event block called Sta End.  I don't see that documented, nor is the length of the station documented anywhere.   What is going on with this?

Thanks,

Ed G

Thank you. I was afraid of that. It's still fun.

Content Development / Newbie: Routes, tracks and activities

So I read this on the wiki:   "The format assumes an implicit rail 0 which cannot be explicitly started or ended. Instead, it is present from the beginning of the route to the end, and it marks the rail the player's train drives on. All other rails in the CSV format are purely visual and have no functional purpose."

This implies to me that if you have a complex track layout, and you want to create multiple "activities" on it, that you must rebuild the route.

For example, this would make it very difficult to take a two track route and allow it to be run in both directions.  You'd almost have to tear up all the track through the scenery and re-lay the track 0 and then create  the other decorative tracks.

Am I correct?

Thanks,

Ed

NYCTA Projects / Just a thank you on the 2 Train route
« on: May 04, 2017, 11:34:26 am »
I want to send a shoutout and thank you for the 2 route.  I wish we had a 3, but the 2 will do for now.   I grew up in Crown Heights from 1956 to 1965, and came back to visit my grandparents after we had moved to Nassau County.

The #3 was my train.  My grandmother and I would walk up to Eastern Parkway, exchange 60c for four tokens, and go to either A&S on Fulton St or into Manhattan to Radio City, or a museum, or whatever.  In those days, the conventional wisdom was not to ride in the front or rear car, but my grandmother indulged me so I could watch out the railfan window.

I was just soggy with nostalgia when I ran the #2 from Eastern Parkway - Brooklyn Museum (another destination with my 'Nana') through downtown brooklyn, under the east river, up under Seventh Ave, past Times Square, etc.

Driving this really made my evening.

Thanks to all the designers who made all of these routes.

Station Talk / Broken Links
« on: May 04, 2017, 10:55:22 am »
On page https://wiki.bvestation.com/index.php/CSV_Routes  all four links in the Tutorials box are broken.

Does anybody know where these resources went or if they are all lost?

Also, perhaps an admin would like to fix the page .
