Title: (WIP) The Complete IRT Development Thread
Post by: BStyles on March 06, 2017, 10:08:48 pm
Wow, it's been a while since I posted here, hasn't it? Well then let's get right to it.

This is going to be the development of the routes spanning the entirety of the Interborough Rapid Transit. The routes were redesigned so that each and every one of them share the same and accurate distances, as well as coding and object usage.

The current lineup of developers is as follows:

BStyles, JayJay85: 2, 4, 5, 6
Subway4832, Sim Central: 1, 3
RF9197: 7

President Street on the 2 and 5, as it appeared in 2000:

And the new version:

Utica Avenue on the 3 and 4, as it appeared on the original version of the 4:

As well as the updates I added over time:

And the latest version. Hopefully this will be the last time it needs to get updated:

New walls for Bergen Street, local platforms:

Enjoy for now! More updates to come very soon!

So if this is the complete IRT dev thread, shouldn't I be listed as one of the developers for the Queens bound (7)? Not trying to be smart here, just curious.

You are a developer of the 7, yes. You are not an official developer. The people mentioned above have almost a decade of experience and have come together on a massive scale.

This is also a coordinated effort between BVEStation and OpenBVE Connection to complete the IRT. Coordinated, as in this new effort now requires a complete restructuring of the object folder hierarchy. This also includes accurate information gathered from all across the IRT, something which everyone mentioned has agreed to.

So how are developers deemed offical then? If I'm with a group that has been around for 5 years or so and have 2 years worth of developing (same as BVEFan), that should be offical enough. I'm just confused is all.

It isn't. It never was. Presence does not make you an official developer, and anyone can develop, however that doesn't make them "official". Training does.

OBC has been around for ten years, and BVEStation for almost fifteen. The developers mentioned, past and present, have a combined experience even longer than that. Since I have been seeing, as well as getting, a lot of negative feedback from that team and here, your name was not mentioned and posts have been removed. Secondly, I cannot validate where your information from the 7 is coming from, so I cannot tell if the route is accurate or not. The team is using the most accurate skeletons, the most of which were originally created by Joe (Phantom909), who had all the signal diagrams, A.K.A. Track maps, from MTA. Since neither of those were reported to have came from those sources, and the objects were reported to have come from third-party sources, I can neither confirm nor deny its plausibility.

Developers are deemed "official" through a variety of ways. By starting off coding short test routes or fictional routes to master proficiency and by developing trains, which BVEfan does, and they can be official in one or the other, or even both. The IRT being made by this group is coordinating their efforts into one object folder system that will hopefully spread to other routes in the BMT/IND divsions as well. I would also like to point out that developers are also held, and should hold themselves to a higher standard than most members, which means that they must be able to ignore conversations which derail topics and must avoid spam posts at all times. Much like normal members, there's no arguing with members or spammers, simply move forward and attempt to retail the topic. If that fails, ask for administrative help.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, I will gladly accept private messages. Otherwise, this topic will continue to focus on development updates.

Merry Christmas from OBND! We're very proud to bring you the downtown 5 IRT Lexington Avenue Express as our first Christmas gift to the OpenBVE community. I couldn't have done any of this without the help of yankees8318, WizDaGamer, R160BDude, TrainKidKris, and Fan Railer in developing and publicizing this route. This wouldn't be possible without any of them. We hope that y'all enjoy this route!
Contains both NTT and SMEE runs from Eastchester-Dyre Avenue to Brooklyn College-Flatbush Avenue via both White Plains Local and Express and via Lexington Avenue and Eastern Parkway Express. This is a very high quality route, comparable in detail to the A to Far Rockaway, so it may strain your computer.
WARNING: Since a huge portion of the objects are new, the download file is 678 MB, so don't download this on your mobile hotspot.

And yes, we do have gap fillers at Union Square.

Is it me or is there a new FOV from the cab. This route is amazingly detailed and it really does take your breath away. Great work to all the developers involved!

Does the 5 line require any dependencies? because I'm running the route and some parts are missing.

By the way, I am getting over 600 errors and almost 2k warnings when I load the NTT 5x no fog route. I checked the log and it's full of things like

Quote

Any suggestions?

I have to agree with the guy above, I have everything to the T (no subway pun intended) and there's a lottttttt of things missing. All my other (non-5) routes are fine as they come.

Full log here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ow4k9M64omCJQ9LPp3UqOQ13eBiGMKES

Update 2: Happens in the other 5 train routes also whether it's NTT OR SMEE.

Yep it's the same issue with me too as I described above.

All those addface errors are from object bender and don't actually effect the route.  Make sure y'all are putting your objects into Railway\Object.  A lot of people have been putting objects in the wrong folder with this route for some reason.  Make sure you have the 6, LisaRaye2 and the Culver pack installed before you install the 5.  When you install the 5 make sure to overwrite objects when asked.

Trust me I've never had any issues with objects missing or anything before and it's been like a lot of years (like 10+)  Even before making a post here I double checked everything. Copied things over even though I put everything where it should be. I even dragged the folders one by one in corresponding places from the 5 train .RAR file and there is no overlap of folders or anything. My parent folders are organizing the child folders nicely and as should. Ie. Railway>Object>LisaRaye2
Every object folder is in the object folder, sound folders in sound and so on.
Even the 6 train route I have is perfectly fine without missing station roofs or anything.  So I am stumped. Have you checked if maybe the .rar is fine?

Update 2: Guys having this issue, somehow an object folder here has "modified 2011" files that I overwrote without thinking/looking and the ones I had were "modified 2013". I restored my 2013 ones from a backup and it fixed some of of the issues in this 5 route (but not all, still a bunch of things missing). So maybe it's the same for ya.

The "ADDFACE" errors are caused by object bender.  If the files are b3d, object bender replaces Face with AddFace.  All you have to do is open the object that are causing the problem and "Find and Replace AddFace with Face.  The majority of the other errors are caused by announcements not having the .wav extension in the Route file.  Unfortunately, these have to be corrected manually

Is there a way to change the speed limit on the 5 train routes cuss the max is 35mph (56kph) when I take the 5 train it goes way faster than that especially when going express from 86th to 59th and when going express from E 180th to 3rd Ave 149th st.

You have to code them manually in the route file.
Open it with any text editing software and then search 2229 and then every "2229" should be highlighted and then you add .limit 56, on the same line with all 2229 you'll find, except the first one which is in the directory section (just like in the screenshots). But you should put the limit in kph not in mph so for 35mph it's 56kph. Same with other speed limits.

how do you identify that in the coding?
Title: Re: (WIP) The Complete IRT Development Thread

Go through the routefile say in notepad etc

Look for anything related to .limit

e.g

Quote
.limit 40

and remove it.

You need to make sure you have all the objects installed in Railway\Object, redownload it and install the objects there.  Also make sure you're using the most recent version of OpenBVE, I can't guarantee if it works in older versions.
