BREAKING NEWS - PATH TRAIN CRASH IN HOBOKEN

HOBOKEN, NJ (WABC) -- A PATH train has crashed into an abutment in Hoboken injuring dozens of people according to the Hoboken Police Department.
It happened around 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
There are some 45 people injured. More than a dozen of the injured have been rushed to Hoboken University Medical Center, Christ Hospital and Jersey City Medical Center.
The train's crew has been taken to Hoboken University Medical Center.
Emergency officials are on the scene.
The Port Authority is also sending an accident investigation team to the scene.
Train service in and out of Hoboken is suspended.
Hoboken is a suburb of New York City.

Here's a photo of the incident...judging from the photo I'm guessing the t/o must have somehow forgot to stop the train while approaching the bumper and just ran right past it; again nobody knows yet what happened..PATH service suspended to/from the City and NJ Transit cross-honoring according to the newscast.

Ooohhh this doesn't sound good at all....

I wonder what happened? Could this be a repeat of the R143 accident at Canarsie when the T/O was incapacitated? The amount of injuries seems really high, so it seems that the train was at a fairly decent clip when the incident happened.

It seems like that too. Plus, there are strict speed limits entering Hoboken, so I guess something must have happened to the T/O.

More recent news states that the cause was mechanical failure.....
