Photography / NYCTransit Views - The Beginning of a New Show
« on: February 04, 2011, 08:12:32 pm »
Well after further working out the kinks BVEStationTV has been suspended indefinitely. If you would like videos of the past just search on Youtube for BVEStationTV.

But I am happy to announce that the shows name will be changed NYCTransitViews. It will be a CNN type of theme with reporters, direct news and weather analytics. Of course its third party content but BVEStation members are welcomed to watch, enjoy or participate. The team is being built but so far I have been getting support and hear is the crew:

Senior Editors

BStyles - Providing ideas and places of interests. Very knowledgable on information related to NYC, and also an excellent writer.

Lexington456 - An avid source of information especially dealing with the Bronx. Also very knowledgeable an assist with the production of the show.

coneyislandDFNQ - Founder and editor of the show. Also providing ideas and has some sort of knowledge of the MTA.

Staff

4 Train Express 7569 - Reporter and a member of BVEStation. Has some knowledge. Expect some good reporting.

coneyislandDFNQ - Reporter on the system in all 5 boroughs.

MrRailfan - Video Specialist - Avid rail fanner and video specialist make some really cool videos. Expect most of the wonderful animation by him.

Nyctrman - Outer City Reporter - Reports news in NJ and NY. Expect great video and pictures from him.

The crew will grow shortly but I can work with only what I have. Expect to see great videos. Please share your comments in the post about the videos or anything about the show. If you do have video or good speech abilities just reply to this post. Once again I thank (ipac) for allowing the show to run and support from the members.

Art & Graphic Design / Making Graphics Animate for your Signature
« on: January 22, 2011, 11:58:42 am »
Few people have asked around the site on how to make animations like the one in my signature or in tvega961. Its simple and you wont have to be a brain surgeon to figure it out.

You can use - www.gickr.com or www.picasion.com to do the animations for you and give you the BBC code that is supported on the forums.

Step 1 - You need to label the images in the order you want them to animate them.

Example:

1.jpg
2.jpg
3.jpg

Step 2 - (Will be broken down in Part 1 or Part 2)

Part 1
a. Go to the sites provided above and upload your images in the order you wish for them to animate. Set the animation speed and Submit. You will have options from the site to copy the BBC code.

Part 2
1b. Download GIMP 2.6. (Type in Google)

2. Open GIMP and drag and drop th images in the order of the ones you would like to be shown first.

3. Then click Save As......

4. You will name the file to whatever you desire, but make sure the file extension is .gif

5. A warning will appear. Make sure that "Convert to Grayscale" is selected. The other box is automatcally selected. Do not change it. Then click "OK"

6. Add your signature to the GIF and set the interval to 1000. Then click "OK"

7. Your files should start to animate.

8. Follow Part 1 to redeem the BBC code.

BVE/OpenBVE Support / Lengthen and Shorten a Trainset
« on: January 14, 2011, 01:17:37 pm »
I will release a visual video of DJ Hammers R38 showing you how to lengthen and shorten your trainset for PERSONAL USE ONLY!!!

I got permission from DJ Hammers to display his work. If you didnt get permission, please dont, I wouldnt like anyone to get in trouble.

The files your gonna need will be located in any trainset you downloaded:

extensions.cfg
train.dat

Both of the files listed open with Notepad. (Users who dont have Notepad can use Worpad or Microsoft Word)

Open the extensions.cfg document. You will see that there is numbers at the beginning of the document. I will use a 10 car set as an example:

Example: (Maybe slightly different)

0 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
1 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
2 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
3 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
4 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
5 \R142\R142A_middle.bmp
6 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
7 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
8 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
9 \R142\R142A_back.bmp

If you wanna shorten the car to lets say a 2 car length for a shuttle we will use the above example.

1. Select and copy #9 in the document.

2. Erase from #9 to #1.

3. Paste what I told you to copy in Step 1.

4. Change #9 to number #1 since its your second and final car.

5. Click Save and close.

It should look something like this:

0 \R142\R142A_front.bmp
1 \R142\R142A_back.bmp

Now you can open the train.dat file. Scroll down to where you see "Number Of Cars". Take out the number thats there (it should say what ever number cars it was previosuly before you edited the document in this case 10) and put the number you set it up to be. In this example it should be 2. Make sure everything is lined up and save. Run openBVE and you will see you have a 2 car set. Enjoy! If you dont understand, I will upload a video tomorrow. Any questions, dont hesistate to ask.  ;D

The route is a fictional (6)(7)(8) which runs on Mermaid Avenue.

The (6) is Mermaid Av Exp while the (7)(8) is Mermaid Av Local.

The stops forthe (6) are:

Stillwell Avenue
West 16th Street
West 27-28th Streets
West 31st Street
Surf Avenue
Neptune Avenue - West 33rd Street

the (4)(5) stops will be posted later.

All track work has been layed down by jupdaddy/phantom909. The sounds and the images will be done by myself and coding help from lexington456. The trainset to be used hopefully will be a special R152 (6) if I get proper missions but thats for later.

Any comments are welcome. Below is a map that should be close to how the route is built.
