It is currently unknown when, or even if the (B) will have R160's, but if it will in the future, it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Best chance is a freak accident , where no other r68s are available or they broke down and CI and Concourse yards don't have a supplement . Then they would have to replace it with a Set from CI , which might be an R160 . Remember the B is based out of CI Yard and Concourse and Concourse only wants R68s and CI's R160 are all assigned elsewhere.

The Other thing that might happen is a rerouted F train that has to go down the Brighton line . To ease Confusion the Conductor might set it up as a B .

Other then that , there is no plan in the near future to put 160s on the Brighton Express . And i do agree that the 68/a's are Slow and hope some miracle happens so they get replaced with something else .

R68's/R68A's will be on the (B) till retirement as far as I know especially they wanna make the R68s like a slow R160 in 2015 and 2016 (I think)

IT would be interesting to see the R68/R62's get NTT at least as far as automated announcements

Would it be worth it though upgrading to automated announcements, possibly strip maps or and FINDS or some kind of interior/exterior displays?
They're find the way they are with the rollsigns and manual announcements(old fashioned way).

If the idea is to keep the R68(A)s (and the R62(A)s since they're around the same age) until the mid 2020s at the earliest, wouldn't it make more sense to have these trains look and feel similar to the newer R142s and up? One of the major qualms with the older fleet is its lack of NTT amenities (clear announcements and displays, ADA requirements) and while that may not seem like a big issue now given the varied (though increasingly limited) types of trains on the rails right now, it will become one as the older fleet is eventually fazed out. No one will want to deal with what will be the oldest trains in service, especially if they're relegated to one or two lines only.
