However, he DID say that he would hopefully resume this project 3 weeks after he said it was on hold.

Sorry everyone, this project will be halted until further notice.  Gotta get packing now.   Hopefully I should resume the work in three weeks.

Hopefully

Nice, glad to hear this project is back underway  ;) Just wondering, will the final product have ZeroBeats' original panel, or will you make a new one?

The NYCT version will have zerobeats2000's panel (with some improvements).
The SIRT version (which will most likely come later) will have a completely different panel, since the SIRT R44 panel is completely different in real life.

Sounds good. Just wondering, will the train make a realistic sound when slowing down and the brakes are in action? The OTT's vibrate a bit when slowing down from a high speed, and none of our OTT's on here make that distinctive vibrating sound yet. So it would be great if it would be implemented into this train.

I think that it may be possible to implement this sort of a vibration sound by using motor sounds that play,
only when the train is decelerating, but I would require some assistance in doing this from somebody who knows
how to implement motor sounds on trains in the train.dat file.

Additionally, I am looking in to simulating the lag between when the air brakes and dynamic brakes start applying.
On trains with SMEE and RT-2 braking, the air brakes begin braking the train about half a second before the dynamic
brakes apply. Hopefully I can get this implemented too.

Motor sounds in the train.dat file are simple enough once you get the hang of it. Still takes a good while though. The key is getting the correct sound clip to play for the specific sound you want to loop. after that, it's trial and error to see if you can get it to sound perfect. It's a lot easier with the new openBVE train editor, but that program has gone offline as far as i know, and you can't find it anywhere. But I'm sure if you really want it, someone will be able to send it to you.

I actually have train editor, I will play around with it and see what I can do. With regards to hosting, I will probably upload the train editor along with object view, object bender, and route viewer to http://www.openBVE.org sometime soon.

Once i have a chance to ride the Staten Island Railway again, hopefully we can modify the model for the R46 to create the R44. Should be fairly easy to modify from the original sketchup file. It would be complicated to modify the B3D files due to the nature of how the blender plugin triangulates the faces.

As for the SIR version, nyctrman and I are taking care of that, so that DJ Hammers can focus on the NYCT R44.
