Introduction / Hi, I'm just visiting
« on: September 04, 2012, 05:53:08 am »
Hey there,

I used to love trains as a kid, and now I have an occasional interest in them.  I wish I could make my own routes for my hometown(Toronto) but I don't have
the enthusiasm or the knowledge to do so.

Also,  I just wanted to say that the "Captcha" letters on this forum are too fuzzy, and I usually have to try 4-5 times to get it right, which is quite frustrating.
If I don't post here any further, chances are, that is why.

Hi,

I'm new to OpenBVE but I am an experienced user of desktop Linux operating systems.  On an app centre called "Ubuntu Software Center" under the page for
OpenBVE, one or two of the feedback comments complained that many add-ons for routes and trains were unusable .EXE files for Windows, and couldn't be used
in Linux.

While these .EXE files were intended for Windows users, they can be opened by Linux users, because only the first segment of the file is an .EXE, the rest is the
Zip file.  It won't be an automated process like it was supposed to be, but at least the files will be extractable by the user.

To open the .EXE in Linux, download the file, then right-click on the file and select "Open with Archive Manager."  If the Archive Manager produces an error, then
that particular .EXE does not contain a standard Zip file inside it.  But I have tried some, and most of the time it will work.

Just in case anybody comes asking...

Content Development / Any Canadian Routes/Trains?
« on: September 03, 2012, 09:51:44 pm »
Hi there,

I live in Toronto, and I would like to try out the Toronto Subway lines, or the GO trains that operate in the areas around Toronto.

Additionally, I'd like to try out any other routes that are based in Canada.

If there is anything out there, please post a link.  At the time of this writing, the site http://wiki.bve-routes.com/ was down, so forgive me if the answers are there.

If anything doesn't yet exist, I would love to see it developed but don't have the resources.  I was just hoping something was out there.

Thanks,
