I made a tutorial showcasing how to get the program (for those who don't already). Maybe some of these threads won't need to keep appearing anymore.
OpenBVE Tutorials - How to get the actual program and the NYCT D route (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU0W_uINrTU#ws)

Not bad however I think that an actual narration of you instructing people how to do it would be better than random music lol.. Still helpful

1).go to the official openbve homepage
2).you download openbve to your downloads folder
3.) you go to (local disk (C:) and make a new folder called(openbve stable)
4.)go back to the openbve official homepage
5)you download the SDL and extract it to(local disk (C:)/program files/openbve stable
6)next you download the openAL and extract it to(local disk C:)/program files/openbve stable
7)next you download the frame-network client 4
8)FINALLY GO BACK YO YOUR FOLDERS WHERE YOU DOWNLOAD OPENBVE AND YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO
and + extract openbve to (local disk C)/program files/openbve stable
ONLY IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS XP

Windows 7 does work with 3D games, and the BVE games are not really 3D anyway, so that's not really a valid statement. You can get BVE 2 and 4 to work with Windows Vista and 7, it just takes a bit of messing around with files and the command prompt. And obviously openBVE works with Vista and 7 perfectly. And try not to type with Caps Lock on, since it makes everyone automatically assume you are angry.

If anything Windows 7 works BETTER with 3D games.

openbve does not work on my windows 7 computer
What problems are you getting?
-
openbve does not work on my windows 7 computer
Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean that the problem is across every Windows 7 system. Windows 7 was released over 3 years ago. If openBVE didn't work with Windows 7, patches would have been made years ago to fix the problem.
Now, if you explain what issue you are getting with Windows 7 then perhaps we would be able to help you.

the problem is openbve does not
load right
-
the problem is openbve does not
load right
We are going to need more details than that
-
1)when openbve load's it does not show a picture
2)openbve does not show the cab, interior, exterior
3)the station's are not loaded right
4)I put openbve in (Local disk C:)/Program Files (x86)/openbve stable/
5)when the train load it's all white
6) the sign for the(ATS)(power,1,2,3)(brakes1,2,3) are messed up
-
Make sure tht u have the railway objects in the right place ( C:/program files (x86/BVE/Railway then 3 folders: Object, Route, & Sound.

but the game is slow >:(

High Quality Train + High Quality Route = Lag.
Turn down your viewing/draw distance, this will help.
-
but the game is slow >:(
There's not really much you can do about lag, other than lower down the settings or better, upgrade your computer. You would need a fairly high-power dedicated graphics card and an Intel Core i5 or better for best results on high quality trains/routes.

I did find and install the new update of openBVE version 1.4.3.2 to download here

If anyone needs the url to download openBVE, here it is:

I'm going to see if it works properly with Windows 10, and attempt to optimize it to allow multi-threading

I am having a similar issue to oporator12, but the game doesn't even load. It shows the image of a train, and then crashes. I have an HP with windows 7. If anyone can help, that would be great. I have downloaded the highest rated version from this website, and a couple of the "fictional" routes with their suggested rolling stock.

Make sure to have OpenAL and the .NET 4.5 Framework installed. Also no need to bump an old topic.

Eh I don't mind. It was originally intended to cut down on the amount of topics anyway.
