General BVE/OpenBVE / Re: CD/DVD Survey for BVE
« on: August 29, 2011, 04:43:42 pm »
I like it the CD/DVD idea. A CD might not be enough to hold everything so a DVD would be best. Maybe with all the routes put in one, we can make an automatic installer which installs every route and also there would be an option on which routes you want to download. However, this would need to be constantly updated, so using DVD-RW would solve that issue instead of using DVD-R.  To you USB people:

I have:

1x 4GB USB 2.0
1x 8GB USB 2.0
1x 16 GB USB 2.0
1x WD Passport 500GB USB 3.0

I'll tell you know, using USB 2 is a pain in the ass because it's so slow. If you have a decent connection, it'll probably take you the same amount of time to download as it would to transfer using USB 2. USB 3 is very fast, but USB 2 is a pain in the ass to transfer files

r3 is right as well, Most people these days won't pay for something that is free. $3.95 at most would be the cost IMHO. Those of us with jobs here can donate some money, but I don't think the users of BVEStation can become the site's main source of income

Station Talk / Re: WEATHER ADVISORY - Hurricane Irene
« on: August 28, 2011, 11:49:50 pm »
the reason for the precaution is a response to Hurricane katrina. No city wants to take the backlash tat happened back then.

I personally dont agree with mandatory evacuations, because its an abuse of power. What should b done is stongly suggest that people leave and explain that we will not be sending emergency personnel in to save you in case you stay.

Joe
Well, it wasn't exactly mandatory. People who stayed behind didn't get punished in any way because cops weren't going from door to door dragging people out

Nothing happened for me.

@Mr. Railfan, remember what happened in December? I think its a lot better to be prepared and have no emergency then to have an emergency and not be prepared.

I'd just like to ask: Is it illegal to not follow evacuation orders? One of my friends live in Zone A and he is refusing to move. He is just one of those few paranoid people who still think weather forecasts are a joke...

I live in Zone B. I only live a few blocks away from the border of A so yeah..

pretty scary. I think Gloria hit when I was four or five, which was the last major hurricane threat, but I dont remember what happened then. This is going to be the first hurricane I've actually been through

Does anyone else have this problem? The small ass text box is starting to get annoying when you're trying to fix mistakes in your posts...

About the poll: At this point in time, I don't think there is any doubt that BStyles is better then yours, because he has more work done and is a bit more experience then you do right now. Not tryin to sound harsh though

Hi my computuer is playing up and I can't seem to find out why can I please have some help on why they closed down
Why are you trying to ask two questions in one sentence?

If your computer is acting up, you need to explain what the issue is. Just saying that it's acting weird doesn't mean shit to anybody trying to help you solve the problem

Here is the reason why BVE4.net closed, but I'm not sure if it was the same reason why TSC closed. (I didn't get around to reading the threads when the news broke out)

Quote
Owing to permissions being withdrawn for a quantity of the objects/textures which made up the NWM routes, the pages and downloads have been taken offline.

There were plans to host the Trainsimcentral and BVE4.net files on a new server, but they may, or may not return. I don't wish to be part of this 'community' at the moment. No discussion will be entered into.

Many thanks for all your support and for the offers of hosting since TSC closed.

BVEStation Network News / Re: The D Line has been released!
« on: August 08, 2011, 09:59:40 am »
My Dell can't handle this route :P Oh well... time to install my spare nVidia GT 430 in it. However, I took a run with this using my laptop and the visuals seem very nice. Tjay's signals in it would be very nice as well.

Another question: Does the Manhattan bound Concourse Express actually run on the local track? There were many switches to the express track and I was wondering why the train didn't use those switches...

Be warned, though. Once the route uses TJay's signals it loses all BVE2/4 compatibility. But seeing as none of you care, never mind.  :P

I kinda like Bedford Park Blvd. being clean. NYCTBA is so much better than its counterpart.  ;D

BStyles

i guess its time to get a new computer for real then. thanks for letting me know Styles
Just don't buy the cheapest one you see in the store and don't buy a computer just because you think it looks good, or your might be disappointed again.

where is my find?
Your not paying him so he can take as he much time as he wants to do it. In fact, he is just doing this for your enjoyment. Lance can easily say that he doesn't want to do it for you
