In the end will the project be lower-end computer-compatible?

Content Development / Converting SketchUp to Train
« on: August 21, 2015, 01:56:05 pm »
Hi,

If I have a SketchUp model of a train, how do I convert it into a train file OpenBVE can run?

Thanks,
narnia0100

The (6) is a VERY high quality route, and requires a nice graphics card to run smoothly. Try turning down your settings if you haven't already. One source of lag is the animated trains present throughout the route. I know someone who made a version without the animated trains, but I don't know how to get my hands on it right now.

Thanks for the info. :)

Hi,

Is there a less-detailed route of the 6 line that is available for download? Even though I have 100+ GB left on my hard drive, the route is still very slow. It's not the train file, I ran it with another route and it works fine. Maybe it's just my graphics card.

Thanks,

@DJ Hammers Thank you! :)

I doubt anyone does, but does someone here have recordings of the automatic announcements on MBTA Green Line trains?

Thanks! :)

Hello,

I'm so sorry for if I'm bumping the thread, but I was considering restarting the project over again and had a few ideas.

I was just wondering, can I use SketchUp to build trains? What other programs would I need if I were to use SketchUp?

(Also, what is the current TeamSpeak address? And how can I be notified of changes to the TeamSpeak address?)

Thanks! :)

BVE/OpenBVE Support / Re: Credit Question?
« on: February 23, 2013, 05:32:37 pm »
Hey guys, nevermind. I've come to the conclusion that I will contact those credited in the train Text Document in the train folder and I will ask for permission first before using the files.

BVE/OpenBVE Support / Credit Question?
« on: February 23, 2013, 04:55:24 pm »
Hey guys, I have a question about crediting people for their work. Is it alright to use someone's work and crediting them or do you need to ask someone if you can use their work before using their work then crediting them? I just want to make sure so I can try my best to not do anything wrong.

Thanks,
Zachary

Hi,

Oh, I see. Yes, the set of doors on the right side are supposed to be a little bit more towards the front than the ones on the left side because the cab is in the way on the left side.

Do you want to make the whole route, or just the train? I tried making the Blue Line a while back, but had no resources whatsoever, so there went that. If you do mean the train, however, it's a different kind of thing. The Green Line trains are literally trolleys and the doors are not the same on either side. Definitely a challenge worth trying, though. I should have some pictures laying around and will be glad to help.

Go Sox!

Hi Mr. Even,

Hello. In response to your question, I am planning to make just the train. What did you mean when you said "the doors are not the same on either side"?  Mudwrestle agreed to work with me in this project and since we don't live in Boston, we are relying on pictures that we could find on the internet and drawing them and putting them together. I'd appreciate all the help I could get, and I'd be glad to accept your help. We would definitely credit you for your help.

Thank you and I hope to speak with you soon.

Content Development / openBVE MBTA Green Line Train Project
« on: February 18, 2013, 01:27:08 pm »
Hey guys, I've been downloading and playing different openBVE trains and they're pretty cool, but I was just wondering, how do you create a train in openBVE? What programs might you need? I was thinking that since there are a lot of MTA trains, why not create train from another transit system? I used to live in Boston for a period of time, and I liked to ride the Green Line a lot. I thought it'd be cool if I could create an MBTA Green Line train. I might start with a Type 7, then create a Type 8. I have a couple of questions for the members here:

1) Does anyone here live in the Boston area?
   a) Can you help me record the announcements on the Green Line?
2) Does anyone here have a lot of experience with creating trains with an exterior on openBVE?

The Green Line trains are very special to me because I used to ride them all the time with my grandpa and we used to have a lot of fun. It brings back memories. This is a project that I'd be very happy working on. If anybody can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

Please respond.

Thanks!

Zachary
