This week I'm working on the R176, hoping to get it done by the end of the week.
1 Update:
-
Since Puertorican88 also started with the R176, I will be using his version
OpenBVE: R176 Test Train (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmpPRo78WZE#)
I will make a few changes, add the sounds and panel and then Release it
After that, I'll start on the R68.
There will also be a BVE version if I can get the bve train coding down.
Is there a way to convert Openbve Trains to BVE TRains?

I don't have a .dat file open in front of me so I can't give you an exact answer, but the process is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. A trick I use is to Open a BVE 2 or 4 .dat file and compare all of the lines before the motor section. Delete all of the extra lines and change the compatibility line at the top. This isn't something I'd recommend to everyone but that's the best way to get it done.
After that just speed up the run sounds and it's good to go. Usually in audacity I'd speed the frequency up to about 64000 kHz but it all depends on the run sound itself.
And I should add that the handling in BVE 4 is very precise, so you should tweak the braking and delay specs

ALL PROJECTS ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Thank you, work will resume soon

How do I create "lights"? Like the real lights you see in trains
-
I don't know the answer to your question, but I want to bring up a point here which might be of good use. In the high quality routes we have, with brightness commands, the interior goes pitch black on the inside. Any way to avoid this?

That's where this comes into:
How do I create "lights"? Like the real lights you see in trains
Once you incorporate that, I'd believe it would work like in this shot here

Ooo that's nice!

Joseto, the answer to your question is with the use of the SetEmissiveColor (CSV)/EmissiveColor (b3d) command. It was shown on the old BVEStation forums. Remember the R-68A Q with the bright Q rollsign in a dimly lit station? That was created from this command.

O.o Yes I do remember! Cool stuff! Too bad that R68A was lost...

I would like to ask what makes you say that (since I didn't say anything about owning the picture there or the R68A).
But I believe we're already getting off topic here, so scratch that.

I thought the R-68A would have an exterior

no, ,its ok. It's all for helping out

That's not Pacific's train. That's pijiang's train, which was lost from a computer crash.

quick answer: your e-mail lol. Back on topic

As of now, I'll be getting my charger on Monday. Once I get it, Work on the R176 will resume the next day, then minor changes on the R175 will happen, after, work on the R68 will resume and that's it
Although , I Won't Be Working On Anything Now

Well, I went messing around and I found the solution as shown here on the R160:
-
Yup. Basically, that's how it's supposed to turn out.
Remember that there might be more to lighting that I don't know. TJay1724 mentioned that there's more to the lighting than just the SetEmissiveColor.

Awsome train
-
I love the motor sounds of the train, they are awesome. However, the acceleration rate of this train is too unbelievable. The train accelerates way too fast thus making it unrealistic even for a fictional train and the deceleration is even worse. There is no train on earth that slows down that fast. If you can fix the acceration and deceleration on this train, you'll get an A+ from me because other than that, this train is awesome!!!!!
P.S.- Not knocking on you or your work. I'm just responding to your request for improving your train.

About how much should I slow it down?
I'm trying to do it like this: ATL SkyTrain at the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (Mitsubishi Crystal Mover) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnsEdqpV1fQ#ws)
-
I would say your acceleration rate and top speed should be the rates SIR North Shore used in his R142A v8. And the deceleration rate should be the rate he used in the same trainset.
-
Although we have no NYC Railroad routes for BVE I would say cap this train at 65-70mph with a 2.5 to 3.0mph acceleration rate with a deceleration rate of 3mph/s.The train should easily hit 45 but struggle onward so bring that cap down to 65 I guess. It will be a good train for JayJay's Staten Island Division since he has a lot of routes where you can hit 50-60 even the (U) I like the panel and propulsion.
I noticed the doors weren't animated but its a great train.

Pacific,Do you remeber the R175 that you built? And if you wanted to change the route by pressing 4 and 6? Why dont you do that to your R176 and put the Numbers- (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(9) And the Route Test Train? Do You Like my idea?

I was considering that this morning, but the problem is that I can't add animated signs, stay tuned for another update

Hmm... there's no doors, no lcd, no floor. so no

Interesting design...all-glass doors?
No exterior side signage though, you might want to consider adding it in; other than that looks great especially the curved roof!
-
The curved roof looks amazing! You should have those implemented on every train out! ie. R160/R179/R152/R142/etc.
-
Okay Thanks Pacific!

Nice Job Can't Wait for this train to come out!! You Go Pacific :) :)

In an effort for me to actually get something done here, work on this project will be halted until further notice. In the meantime, I will be working on the R68 Project v2.

Well, I would like to announce that I am resuming work and will stick to working on the R176 Project.
On the "A" Car (Cab Facing Front) work is about 85% done (w/Animations).
On the "A" Car (Cab Facing Back) work is 0% done (w/Animations).
On the "B" Car (No Cab) work is 0% done (w/Animations).
What will be added?
- Animated Interior Displays
- Animated Finds
- Animated Exterior Displays
- Curved Roof
- Animated Headlights
- Interior Lighting
- 3rd Rail Gap
Check this out:
OpenBVE - R176 "A" Car Preview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKzFEk1zz9g#ws)
I might add some things on the contributor page, but it would be unlikely.
-
excellent job, keep up the amazing work
-
Looks good!

UPDATE: I've finished adding the cab in all the cars that would have one
- The "A" Car (Cab facing the front) is 100% done (w/o animations)
- The "B" Car is 100% done (w/o animations)
- The "A" Car (Cab facing the back) is 100% done (w/o animations)
Here's some pictures to look at:

A video of the 3rd rail gap (thanks to NYZ3R0DAY) and a Propulsion WIP:
Because of the Gap, trains can no longer accelerate when on the gap and it get noticeably dimmer.

I have a question about ObjectViewer and OpenBVE:
When I Load ObjectViewer, I get:
However, It comes out like the following:
What causes it to look like that? I know that it isn't Z-Fighting since it's the only object coded there. Same thing happens with the transparent layer (0,0,0,100) where the cab door glass would be.
-
Wow, that is really cool! Also, you probably just made an error in the coordinates, in OpenBVE it looks like it needs to be moved a bit further up on the Y axis
-
Here's some updates:
Animated Headlights (With animation help from NYZ3R0DAY):

Coming soon:
- Door On/Off light
- Final touches to be added (to the exterior)
Any suggestions on what to add?
-
Just a suggestion I would add a information system in the lower right window in the front of the train like the R110 Series like since its a 7 u can put 7 and the time it departs the last stop like I.e. 7:0939

can you speed up the doors? and if its a 3d cab, maby you can put a glass effect on the window like on the R16 and R46 in development, it might even look good on a standard panel.

I think there was a formula for it, instead of reducing the length of the .wav file
-
More underbody work would be nice and perhaps using some good trucks.

could use the animated trucks like the R46 did but not as in depth so its not a computer killer lol. they dont have to spin just turn like the R62 beta.

I will add the animated wheels/trucks after I finish the panel.

like headlights on a car/truck/train/bus/plane/atv spread out when they leave the light source. ill pull up a pic in a sec.
-
now thats alot better, can you spread the headlights?
What do you mean by spread?
He means make the headlights illuminate a larger or smaller area, in a nutshell.
-
Yea
-
basically what the headlights should look like from the top view
-
Heres what i was talking about pacific
(http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/5822/r152frontmid.png)
-
I don't know if you fixed this yet, but if the front picture shows the headlights as a blue color, then why is the light yellow? Otherwise, nice train!
and for the doors, you should make them close normal speed and it should go like this:
doors are closing (then it starts to close)
doors are opening (then it starts to open)
-
Yes, the light beam should be a bluish-white color, which can be changed to in the coding.
-
Pacific385 R176 has been handed down and handed down again to me so i will try to restore it as much as i can along with BVEfan and make it fully 3d after the R142A project is finished so for now it will be update here is a prview of what it looked like in 2013 hope you enjoy.
