Title: (WIP) Offical Update Thread for the (7) Flushing Local/Express
Post by: Ztraintobroad on July 20, 2015, 12:59:34 am
As part of the "Finish all routes for 2017" initiative, I am re-starting the (7) line development back up since my sound problem is now fixed.

NOTE:
The Queens Bound (7) Project by me is NOT in conjunction with the (7) to Manhattan project by another developer. They are two different routes.

Progress Updates So Far:
34th Street-Hudson Yards was scrapped as the station was inaccurate, and I am already starting to rebuild it to accurate measures.

Times Square-42nd Street is 99% finished, just needs a few texture updates and some new objects.

5th Avenue is 56% completed, but needs to be redone because the distance to Times Square was to close.

Grand Central is 20% completed due to the complexity of the objects, will be done after 5th Avenue.

Vernon Blvd is 61% complete, needs track walls and other objects.

Hunters Point Avenue is 79& complete, needs more objects.

Everything north of Hunters Point is still a skeleton. I will continuously update this post with updates.

And please, if you have nothing nice to say, at least have some respect and move along. I'm tired of this thread being full of nonsense.

Thanks,
-Z

Are you going from TSQ to Main or Main to TSQ?

There was a change in plans since 34 ISNT offically open so the (7) will first be worked on from Main Street to TSQ or 34 Street then start from 34 to Main.

Update on the NYCT (7) Line!

As you all know, progress was slowed down on the (7) line for BVE due to school & family life, BUT, (7) progress will resume in November. And not just for OpenBVE!

That's right, the NYCT (7) line is also coming to Train Simulator 2015-2016 (or better known as Railworks!). This project will be the first ever NYC Subway route to be made in Railworks as well as the first ever R62A and R188!

This route will feature multiple scenarios, such as yard moves, G.O's, etc! It will also feature Corona Yard, home to the (7) line.

As for progress:
I just started Flushing - Main St and I am beginning to install tracks and tunnels.

R62A:
Work has started on the shell.

R188: Shell is nearly completed.

As for the start of this, the NYC (3) line is also being developed by mrsam127 for Railworks, and will be a shared project. The (3) and (7) will be worked on side-by-side, and updates for the (7) line will be posted here!

I'm still making it, but another person with OBC is doing it as well. Don't know anymore details then that. The (7) I'm doing right now is semi-done up to 42 St.

Aw... Wow, Ztraintobroad. I knew something was pushing my buttons, I just didn't know what. Can't believe you lied. At least mrsam127 shows actual progress of his routes so I know it is real, even though he didn't release everything he promised. But that is ok, because I know he is busy.

Joeyjet, welcome to the forums. Feel free to explore around and see what's up, but don't ask around for updates to the same route on multiple threads. It quickly gets annoying. If developers have updates, they will post them. BVE routes take a ton of time to make. I've been on this forum since early 2009 and there are routes that have been in development longer than I've been here. Some patience will do you good.

http://openbveconnect.com//index.php?topic=120.0

To SimCentral, Z Train did make a video to show his progress, albeit it was nothing more than a basic skeleton. Either way, it's enough proof for me that he's at least trying to do something, and I believe that we should fully encourage anyone to experiment and try and see what they can make. When I got my first software engineering internship in college, I learned a hell of a lot more in 10 weeks than I did in two years of lectures just by tinkering around and playing with programs. I learned more in my first six months out of college than I did in four years of college just by experimenting with code.  I don't know why you're jumping in all of the sudden and attacking Z Train, but knock it off. If you don't like what he's doing, either wait for another version of the 7, play World of Subways 4, build the route yourself or ignore this topic. I haven't handed out any warnings in my 1+ year of being moderator. Don't give me any reason to change that.

And to everyone else, stop the bickering here. Try acting at least a little mature. Thanks.

If you believe someone is being dishonest, it's something you should talk to the administration about (and show proof) through PMs.

Since I need to update everyone again;

Everything that I have shown BEFORE March of 2016 are NO LONGER my projects. The (7) project, as of April 12, 2016, is now being worked on solely by me. As to my understanding, someone else is doing another version of the (7) as well, although I am not part of that project. My (7) project is both direction (7) train routes, and pictures will come soon.

My bad I've been absent for a while.

Here's what actually is/has being/been done.

34th Street - Hudson Yards (Was made by Sim Central.)
Times Square - 42nd St (Was originally made by Sim, but modified by me.)
5th Avenue (Was orig made by Sim, but is being redone by me)
Grand Central - 42nd St (Was originally made by Sim, but is being redone by me.)
Vernon Blvd - Jackson Avenue (Being made by me)
Hunters Point Avenue (Being made by me.)
Court Square (Being made by me.)
Queensboro Plaza (Being made by me.)

Rest of the stations from Queensboro Plaza to Flushing - Main St are being made by me. Some objects will be made by me, some objects will be used from other routes (will be included in detail in the readme.)

Any questions, you can ask me.

Thanks, -Z.

Now that summer is coming, you will have more time to create the routes, right? Sam made his NEC shuttle within a couple weeks during the summer. If not, that's fine. I'll work on mine for RailWorks 2016 and hopefully by then, release it.

Until the issue with the NTT's is sorted out (R142/R142A), I am not allowed to show any more pictures or videos of the R142/R142A/R188 on the (7) until further notice. As a placeholder for now until I can find my R62A, I'll be using the old R188 that me and Sim created a while back.

Current Progress On the (7) So Far:

Phase 1:
34 Street-Hudson Yards: 20% (Redoing station to be accurate)
Times Square-42 Street: 99% (Mini stuff still left to do.)
5th Avenue: 59% (redoing station pitches)

I know I am a little late to the party here, but you (@Ztraintobroad) say you are going to announce something big, right?
Here is the thing (actually a few really):
1. We all knew you were working on the 7, that is not news lol.
2. If you say you are going to announce something big on BVEStation, but post all the pics on Facebook, specifically UTMS (short for United Transportation Modeling, Simulation, & Development, for those who do not use Facebook here), how is that something big? Even with all of those pics that you posted, you could have placed them here.
3. This is your thread since you created it, right? Go wild with the pics here also lol. You probably forgot that you blocked some people on Facebook, so they can't view them in the group. This is most likely the reason why @WizDaGamer is asking for pics.
4. You can tell people whatever they want. PICTURES make a world of a difference when describing progress. Sure drop percentages and all, but some people prefer screenshots. I'm not saying you are supposed to please others, but if you want people to believe what you are doing (I am assuming some have their doubts), screenshots don't hurt. Show the horrible aspects of route coding and the good parts too. Keeping everything under wraps just makes people suspicious.

You hyped up some folks on here for some screenshots of a route that could be announced with regular post. Yes, it is your thread, and you can do whatever you want, but what you did is called a bait and switch. Plain and simple. "Something big" usually means that a route/train is being released, a route\train is nearly available for release with some errors that are being ironed out, or extremely significant changes. Now you might think this is a post to come down hard on you or because I dislike you, go ahead. Think whatever you want lol. I see it as constructive criticism to help you become a better person.

Congrats on your progress with the 7. It looks like you know what you are doing with the route and the train.

No no, it's all right. I love to get criticism for my work, it helps me better it. The main reason why I said something big was coming was because of the combined new beta R142A and the 7 together, which is why I said it was big. I understand tho, thank you.

Waiting for a response from my question.

I was able to create CBTC SIGNALS for the 7 line, only issue is that the signals turn off when trains aren't in close proximity to each other which really defeats the whole purpose of having them. However, I'm working on a DLL file which will allow R188's to interact with the signals like they do in real life.

And Wiz, can you be patient, I'm trying to add some stuff to Times Square, then I'll post pictures.

What are you talking about? I'm not downgrading you... I didn't even know we had a rating system. Yes Phase 1 is finished, but look at the percentage. I said it was 99% complete, not 100%...

So...is this about development, or is this a place for you two to argue? Let's try to keep it civil and stay on topic.

It would be wise to post screenshots that you previously posted on UTMS here. Not everyone has access to that page and I doubt they want to come to this site looking for status updates only to have to be referred elsewhere.

WizDaGamer, you can now check the Official IRT thread for the pictures.
