OpenBVE and Mac OS X
« on: April 15, 2011, 10:03:58 pm »
has anyone had any luck getting OpenBVE running on Mac OS X?
i know there's a way on getting it to run, but the steps seem confusing.

if so, i'm going to need help to get it working on Mac OS X 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard), on an Intel MacBook Pro.

I have it working flawlessly on my mac pro. Search around on the official openbve forums (http://openbve.trainsimcentral.co.uk/), somebody posted a compiled version of the program as a .app file that can be executed like an .exe on a windows machine. To update the program, simply open up the .app file and replace openbve.exe with the newest version of the .exe and replace the all of the subfolders such as the "data" folder.

By the way, once you open up the openBVE menu, be sure to uncheck the "show warning messages" and the "show error messages" checkboxes. For some reason mono doesn't like to cooperate with openBVE's error and warning messages function; simply not rendering the button to ignore the warnings and errors.

Are you getting as far as at least trying to open it up in Terminal?

Once you followed the instruction as to the link posted, then open up a terminal window. you'll find it in your utilities folder. once you opened it then cd and make a space, then type in or drag the folder where the mono open.exe file is located. hit enter then type mono open.exe and hit enter. this should open up the program. remember after you type cd either type in the location of that folder or just drag it into the terminal window and hit enter. i hope this helps
