EVERYONE! The Train is FINALLY Released! I had to say, thank you to all of my Beta Testers for all the support of the LACMTA Red Line Extior Pack v3 Beta. I'd really appreciated.

@Dr. Subway18, The music was made by an Apple Music Symphony. The trailer was made on an iPhone. See here: http://www.apple.com/ipad/from-the-app-store/apps-by-apple/imovie.html

happy early birthday , and i think you should host it here and on your website so it gets exposure to a wider audience.

Well good point, but one question: HOW an I supposed to upload it to the BVEStation Downloads area? Is there an admin here whom can upload it (and spread the word around it)? I CAN upload it to my web (If I can have 2 download mirrors).

Anyone whom not seen it, take a seat. Also, my b-day is tomorrow, and also the release. But one only question has to make: where would I host the release? Do u want me to host it on BVEStation or my own website?

interesting, does this train use the ATC ?

In real-time, yes. In this point, no. This can only be used on subway lines (Train will be automatic as u hit Ctrl-A). I'm showing the thumnails to see what the train will look like on the out/inside.

un fortunatly im not that good :'( but if someone from here is then we'd be good. You might have to take some pictures of the car inside so if the developer never seen one of these cars frist hand, He/She'd have a good idea of what it looks like.

Well I'll paint the cieling. And see if u can find some amtrak bogies. If no, then I think I might find a solution, I have some bogeys from the ET425 Vorn. I might found some interior pics on nycsubway.org. But it is low quality. I'll have to wait until next week. Because I will be on the move back on the red line, and using my iPhone 4 to record the thing. Plus, there is one little glitch: I can see the 'red' strokes in the windows. Later on, I am experimenting to see if the PNG handles the Transparents in the image itself (not the code in the CSV file).

YEAH (BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT) ill see if i can get some amtrak bogies, im just figuring out how to put things togeather with code so im on the way  ;) i see that you need some walls in the interior. youve done an excellent job with sounds and the cab, really good job., the doors windows need some enlarging but other than that. youve done a great job.

oh, no need to put it together. All i need is just the textures. I have the wheel ax from the ET425 Vorn. All I can work on is just the seats. Now if only i can find a OpenBVE animation specialist, i'll be a lot happier. I'll also work on the ceiling as well. If only I'd find Ami.

Thanks to you all for the great comments. For my next version, it quite needs a ceiling. And needs some bogeys (I think when i saw them, there quite identical to the Amtrak Amfleet bogies).

@Dr. Subway18, I'm not very sure if u are quite capable of Exterior making (with or without DJ Hammers), but hopefully, if u be able to find the bogeys identical to the Amtrak Amfleet cars, I'll be a lot happier.

Also, I saw in DJ Hammers' sig that links me to a contribution page (where anyone want to signup/help with the creations), but how does it exatly...work? I mean while I almost finished with this project, I'm starting another Subway project for both OpenBVE and Trainz called "Project: BART" (You do know what BART stands for).

Hey guys! If u want to see something cool, take a look at my new feature in beta: 3D Cab

Pretty cool huh? If u look closely, the textures are HQ. if u needed a beta test of this, PM me. This train will be expected for release March 9th (my b-day).

We will be making wmata trains. Upon request of wmatafan (sorry if i got your name wrong) we will be seeking help. Any help will be appreciated.

Please Post.

Are you gonna make just the exterior of it? 'cause I've already made the WMATA Metro Train Pack for OpenBVE. All it's missing is it's extior. In case u need help, I'm the one to help. After all, I've already made my first successful Extior Pack with 2 3D Programs.

The only problem is that if you're exporting with any of the exporters mentioned in this thread, it will triangulate the polygons before it sends it to object viewer. Instead of having six faces, that box may just have twelve(the R142, exported from Sketchup to Object Viewer through Blender, went from 1430 faces to +15,000), and the B3D file is now situated to where every face is accountable for at least three more(triangles have three edges), which is why only small details of a train may be exported and which is why we still encourage notepad building.

yeah, thats one reason i dont use this plugin. the faces/texture coordinates are WAY off (as it was supposed to).

Hello to Everyone!

Today, I'm gonna show you how to make an exterior in minutes using Blender (and Milkshape 3D for the first time)! This is a must-see tutorial for those whom have trouble with coding an extior pack using notepad (and other text editors), some are using blender (because they have the OpenBVE export plugin. I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND USING THAT PLUGIN because it'll come out distorted because of face/texture problems and it'll take like hours to fix it).

NOT ANYMORE! As me (a new member of BVEStation), I'll show you how to make you your very own extior pack in minutes instead of hours!

First thing:

You will need these requirements for it to work:

  • Blender (ether between versions 2.49 and latest version 2.61 will work) - blender.org
  • Milkshape 3D. It's payware ($35), for morons whom want to find it for free, search on YouTube
  • BVE Plugin for Milkshape 3D (which you can find http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch/ms3d/download.html)
  • Photo Editing tool (Such as Photoshop CS5.5; GIMP; Paint.NET; etc.)

Before we Get started:

Before we start this, I want to say that, If you want to use images, use YOU OWN images (NOT OTHERS! OTHERWISE, U IN TROUBLE). As the original BVE Station says:

Quote
On BVEStation, creating trains is something that must be taken very seriously, because of the increased amounts of trains violating copyrights. Therefore, unless you have high quality photos and recordings of trains that were 100% taken by yourself, we DO NOT encourage anyone creating trains if they do not have this stuff. BVEStation already has way too many trains created by ameteur train creators, and the quality of them is subpar, according to today's standards. In addition there are alot of users in the BVE world who illegally modify these trains without proper permission. If you have high quality photos and recordings of trains or have already obtained permission if your using other authors files, and you think you have the potential to replace the ones or fill in the ones on BVEStation then you can visit http://www.roman-road.co.uk/temp/tutorial/index.html , otherwise you are not encouraged to build any trains.

You heard me right? 'legal'. I could go on that all-day. Or else, causing the impulsion of dark matter that will elumate us all.

Good. now we're ready!

STEP 1: Make in Blender

I'm gonna use just an ordinary box using this texture:

Next, Start up blender. Then delete the cube by pressing the 'Delete'/'Del' Key on the keyboard.

Then, Make a new cube.

  Blender 2.49: 'Space'>Add New>Cube
Blender 2.5+: 'Space', type in 'cube', click "Add Cube"

This is what it should look like:

STEP 2: Texture in Blender

next, go to material (or F5 on Blender 2.4 ONLY). should look like a checkered globe.

should see this:

Now, go to Textures (should see a Checkered Squared box). Now, click "New". The Type of texture should be "Image" (Blender 2.49). Or "Image or Movie" (Blender 2.5+).

In the "Image" Area, load the Image (from the top of the thread). Then once u load that, go to "Mapping". Set the Coordinates to UV.

Now, go to the "Edit Mode" by hitting "Tab" on the keyboard. Now, Press the U key, and click Unwrap (or Unrap Smart Projection in Blender 2.49 only). Split the window into 2, and switch the other window to "UV/Image Editor". Click on the image icon, select the image u just uploaded.

This should come out (to see the textures in mesh, press Alt-Z):

Now the box is done, ready to come to the next Step!

STEP 3: Export to Milkshape

Now, once that's done, Export to Milkshape (NOT openBVE yet). I would reccomend Export to Autodesk FBX (because the materials built into it). To do this, Go to file>Export>Autodesk FBX. Export the file to where the image is (FYI, export to a folder in the Train folder of OpenBVE.

Now launch Milkshape. In Milkshape, Import the FBX (File>Import>Alias FBX...) In the Dialog Panel, select the default settings. and If you dont see the Textures, right click the Render Screen and click on "Textured", and It'll come out like this:

If you think it looks better, Now you can export it to OpenBVE. To do this: File>Export>Boso View Express Train Driving Simulation...

This'll save as a csv file (I dont know why it's reccomend to save as a CSV File). Export to the Same folder as where the images are in the folder. Once you done that, Open the csv in Object Viewer

and it'll shall come come out like this:

And that is it! Hope this should help!

Hello to everyone!!!!

Sorry it has been a while before. I'd had to work on my websites (host has been on strike 2 times now), and had to work on Trainz (via/Sketchup), and many attempts at making Blender for OpenBVE, but failed because of coordinates/faces problems. But now, It's time to change. I've now Sucessfuly made the Train by Using Blender > Milkshape 3d > OpenBVE. I'll just have Blender do all of the meshes, then export to FBX, and import to Milkshape for final-min touches, and export to OpenBVE as a CSV, and came out PERFECT! So for now, the project will go on.

Here are the latest shots in the past days:

Now I will be offering for some beta testers (for those whom want to tryout the Extior Pack v3 Beta). PM me. Any volunteers to beta test and/or to help finish the pack is very appreciated.

Again, the project will go on!
