You guys may call me crazy but this will be my first route I will be creating. Basically, it's an Amtrak route, yes I know it's long, but it will take time. As of now this will be the map of the route:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=207186238098279516263.00049a7c6b8b274fa3925 (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=207186238098279516263.00049a7c6b8b274fa3925)
There will be an express route as an add on (making it a one stop shuttle)
Just to let you guys know, this will be a long development process, but yeah getting snapshots of each station will be a pain :-\
But yeah, I'll keep you guys updated once the development begins:)
-
Awesome I suppose at least we have an Acela for Amtrak fleet!
-
Trust me buddy boy as A Amtrak fan ,I support you but one thing ....Why not Prov.R.I. so you can have an Acela on it ?
Regional only stops at Waverley station and Acela blasts right through know what I mean??

I'm gonna start little by little and I will extend it to Providence then Boston, I'm going to start little by little
-
Good luck!
-
Thanks Bill, btw if anybody wants to help out with snapshots, objects, etc feel free to PM me, I'll start from Penn station hopefully by this weekend
-
the Acela was already made. Gotta search

ok good, btw updated the map, only 8 stops, well that's part of the NE region route...
Only problem is that there isnt an online track map :/
-
Good Luck! Since your doing this scale of a route, just work little by little and employ visual tricks, you may need lots of that. ::)
-
That huge curve after the Acela exits the tunnel will be annoying to code >.<
Development has begun, This route will be 8 stops long (worth it until the extension) Default train is Acela, I will give you guys an update once i finish coding up the .csv file...
-
Excellent man keep up the good work and us Amtrak fans do Appreciate your Time on this Progress.
-
Great hope it comes through ;)
-
So far i got the rails knocked out next is the objects, but soon i may ask for help if anybody wants to make it realistic :)

Here's the catwires object nyctrman told me to use
-
Okay now this is gonna be a pain: Hell Gate Bridge, and other structures....
I will like to ask who wants to help out with the route, with objects etc, just PM me or post below, I have to admit, this route will take Years to complete.
Note: you will also be credited for your contributions and work also :)

heres a far view

Just texture it, it'll never load if you code the whole thing
-
Hellsgate looks slammin...Dont forget Ditmars Blavd station on the Queens side
-
It's still a Google Sketchup model(the conversion process is tricky, but can be done), and from the looks of it it looks like it has roughly 300+ polygons. I wouldn't use it, however, until the original author grants permission. If not, then it's squashed.
Half of the model is made out of PNG images which use alpha channels to make the trusses, railings, etc. transparent, so it would appear is if it is intricate object work, mostly like what we do here. But like Ray said, it still has too many polygons to ever generate positive results on most computers.
Still, it could be used as a basis for much more objects along the Northeast Corridor route.

FINALLY!!!!! Someone's making an Amtrak route! Bless You!!!!
-
This is one Difficult and Tough Route To make...
This is a Awesome Route I wish you the best of luck creating it

yup i know thats gonna be added to the route

Yup but like you said styles main goal is to get it Out of Penn station, and that Yard (dont remember what the name was). Its gonna take a while but I'll find the stuff

Sunnyside

Sunnyside
thanks Rayvon and I Checked Sunnyside yard, wires are frigging annoying, but anybody able to get snapshots of Sunnyside yard?
-
I suggest you take ray's suggestion and just texture the sides. They'll be a bit more flat, but it will be million times easier to make.
Just to let everyone know, that the screenshots are Google Sketchup models, NOT BVE models.
-
Yeah I know, I'm going to hold off the Amtrak route until I get textures

found Penn Station
Completely unusable. I would suggest making your own models instead of using the Google 3D Warehouse.
They even created the lower concourse levels. That's got to be well over 20,000 polygons, almost twice as much faces if it were converted to BVE format. Not only that, Old Penn Station was demolished in 1964(minus the tracks and platforms) and was replaced with the current Madison Square Garden complex. You'll have to dig through 47 years of of archives to find enough information(if the city didn't demolish it, then there wouldn't be a problem).
That model cannot be used for OpenBVE. Period.

Got a glimpse of the pennstation but the bus went by too fast im going to drop by to get pics of the station

This is actually a very ambitious project. No one here - as far as I know - has really attempted anything like this but if you have the know-how and the determination for it, go for it.
This is one of the projects that I really would like to succeed.
-
Keep up the good work

Whoever wants to take over just PM me...

Okay.... December 17th I will be fanning the Amtrak finally, I'll dust this off for once after 9 months. The only issue is Hell Gates Bridge and Sunnyside yard.... Stay tuned!!!!

Don't know if you managed to find the partial track map of the NY metro area that would possibly help you, but there are a few online....

If you're able to find any that'll be great :) so far I'm using google maps for distances which is kind of a pain to use, but if you find any track maps you're welcome to help me out

Here; I believe this is the one you can use for your route: http://pedestrianobservations.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/mnrrv6.pdf (http://pedestrianobservations.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/mnrrv6.pdf)
And here are the other two:
http://pedestrianobservations.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/lirrtrackmapv3.pdf (http://pedestrianobservations.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/lirrtrackmapv3.pdf)
http://pedestrianobservations.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/njseptav5.pdf (http://pedestrianobservations.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/njseptav5.pdf)
Just keep in mind they're big files and stuff, so it may take a little getting used to before you can easily find everything you want quickly. Hope it helps =)

Rome, do me a favor and extend this to Philly! lol jkjk

Rome, do me a favor and extend this to Philly! lol jkjk
LOL now a REAL treat would be if someone with some spare time decided to make commuter stock (MNRR/LIRR/NJT type trains) so that we can realistically run them on this line. That would be WELL appreciated =)
-
I'm planning to do the Whole North East Corridor but I need:
Distances (it could be done by google maps but just trackmaps will help out)
Trackmaps
Pictures
Etc
December 17th will be the groundbreaking of the development on the Amtrak ;D
-
This is gonna be very interesting ,
Good luck Arome 8)
-
Is there going to be a Amtrak train for this route
-
Once again, there is a Acela, a M3 and M7 EMU
Just search really hard
-
I wish there was a FL9 and Clocker for Bve

God Dammit I used to have the M7 Then i deleted the file lol, anyone no where i can find these trains?
-
The M7 is no longer available for public download.
-
Someone needs to make a clocker for bve
or a AEM7 If i knew how I would but I am just saying I think it would fit perfect for the route
but the M7 and M3 aren't available for download
just like Lance said.
I would say just use a real fast train with good braking I guess.
-
The M3 is here

School and dictionaries are your friends.
lol
-
Nah there both demons from hell who i hate lol... I just thought the word was appropriate for the moment
-
Haha, normally I'd agree and say school is bullcrap, but that would promote bad influence to some of the kids here.
But 100%, dictionaries are your friends.
-
School is all fine and good depending on where it is and how corrupt it is etc.
otherwise then that I can understand what your saying as far as dictionaries.
I don't wanna create a bad influence to anyone here either.
-
What you all are talking about is great and very encouraging, but I don't see what this has to do with the topic... :o

LMFAO BStyles
I will be on topic for now on I got no idea how school got into this topic ;D
-
Lol ;D Groundbreaking begins on Saturday, I might bring my laptop for updates on the pictures if this dinosaur laptop can survive.
This will Cover the whole NEC, the signals will be added later on as I continue researching its signals
-
If your planning on bringing your computer On board
Amtrak , I think you should besides the Am-fleet got the power outlets also.

Here is the Acela guys! i suggest downloading the BVE 2 Version so itll work in OpenBVE

There may be an OpenBVE version of the Acela coming up with an exterior and interior... but the route will be done first lol

Nice work Haven lol sorry for the late response was relaxing after going to Westerly on Saturday. I realized this route will take longer than any other BVE route. But I'm up for this challenge lol. Top the yards and stations that will also take time lol So stay tuned!
-
Hey guys =) so I've been looking around for suitable trains to drive on this upcoming route, and I can gladly say that there are several well developed European long distance trains that are suitable for temporary usage until an actual Amtrak train is created.
For instance, I suppose you all remember the famous musical locomotive; the Siemens Eurosprinter ES64U2 Locomotive, yes?
Taurus 1116 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zu4otEmZOY#)
Well, you can find that set here: http://gothpaladinus.atw.hu/ (http://gothpaladinus.atw.hu/)
The site is in Hungarian, but you can use google translate, or go to the menu tab that says "Letöltések"
Then scroll down to Open BVE Vehicles, and then again to "1116 Taurus RailJet" and click "Letöltés" to save the rar file. you know what to do from there. Hope you guys enjoy it =)
RailJet in openBVE 2011.11.22 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gad4htGfRQM#)
EDIT: If you wish, you can also go here: http://clube-do-bve.blogspot.com/2011/05/siemens-taurus.html (http://clube-do-bve.blogspot.com/2011/05/siemens-taurus.html)
And download the IGBT version of the locomotive (ES64U4) This train lacks a consist, but the trucks of the locomotive pivot, providing a more realistic cornering effect.
-
Cool beans!
-
@Fan Railer, that's one hell of a train lol. Did they purposely make its propulsion sound like that, or did they happen to make it and it coincidentally sounded like that?
-
The propulsion sound is a result of the differing Alternating Current Frequencies produced by the Inverter Equipment.
The differing in frequencies is intended as it is used to control the motors, a side effect is the production of the sounds you hear which correspond to the AC frequency.

Essentially, yes. The ES64U2 uses first generation GTO (Gate turn off thrystors) units to modulate current to the traction motors, while the ES64U4 has second generation IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors).
GTO's have a limited chopping capability, hence the older sounding current noise, which tends to have more distinguished frequency changes, as opposed to the IGBT, which can vary frequency at a much higher rate, which produces not only the higher pitch sound, but the more smooth "sound curve" as seen in the ES64U4. IGBT's tend to be more quiet as well due to this capability.

FanRailer has an AEM7 locomotive with coaches ready to go,
now just need at least a skeleton NEC route for a proper run.

...sit tight, itll take time for me to finish NEC...
No doubt it will be hundreds of hours of work to make a good NEC route!
Give a shout if you need help, as I'm getting fairly good at B3D and basic ANIMATED objects for myself.
