Thanks Joseto & Pacific!

@smooth23, it's supposed to be like that. That was recorded from an actual R142 train and it is that low from the inside.

The propulsion is that low. Riding the R142 I barely hear the propulsion

I like it but mind making the propulsion and brake release somewhat louder.I like when I brake the HVAC kicks up.
Not my video:
IRT East 125th Street Bound R142 (4) train at 149th Street / Grand Concourse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3mWQ0WxO88#ws)
But this can help if u get permission.
Brake release,door cls,open,Manual announcement(Ding) and propulsion.

You working on a R142A for BVE? Because the motor sounds challenged when it starts up

Thanks everyone, and I expect there two be at least 2 different versions of the R142 for version 3.0. One will be like it is now and the other will have the louder brakes & propulsion.
Title: Re: [OpenBVE] Official Thread for SIR North Shore's R142
Post by: Smooth23 on February 15, 2011, 09:38:31 am
When I take the 5 train and the HVAC is off sometimes you don't hear that rub sound at all even if you try to focus on it. Only the R160B/A Alstoms make those sounds. Even though they both have the same motors the brakes are in different locations which makes the sounds different. The propulsion is quite louder than this though even with the HVAC on.

No.Everything is included with the R-142.

The funny part is that the exterior and interior work in Object Viewer. I've tried deleting the train and installing it over to no avail. Everything is extracted to C:/Program Files/BVE/Train.

Make sure your graphics card drivers are updated and that you have the latest version of OpenBVE.
Title: Re: [OpenBVE] Official Thread for SIR North Shore's R142
Post by: Kriston Lewis on February 15, 2011, 06:12:57 pm
I've figured out the problem. I use a program (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/GLDirect.shtml (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/GLDirect.shtml)) that allows one to run OpenGL programs using a DirectX driver a hell of a lot smoother. It seems that this was interfering with the exterior, so I just switched it off.

Nice work!

Some of the doors in the last car don't open (OPEN|CLOSED, etc...). I don't know if you added it in, or it was a bug, but for some reason it kinda irritates me lol.

I agree with the people who have been saying the propulsion is really low... Every time I ride a R142 with the HVAC on or off I can ALWAYS hear it loud...
Title: Re: [OpenBVE] Official Thread for SIR North Shore's R142
Post by: (SIR) North Shore Line on February 15, 2011, 10:26:46 pm
It's like with the R142s, the propulsion is the same for all the cars but they all sound different if you know what I mean. The sounds were actually that low in 1101 but for those that want to hear the propulsion, use 6981! And you can swap the loop.wav sounds around for a loud, medium or low HVAC. I really want to get a third version of the R142 though, using Bstyles sounds.

Yeah i've noticed that in my opinion, some of the R142s are louder on the inside propulsion-wise.

Ok, 4.0 is uploaded with three versions now:

1101 (2 train/low hvac/loud propulsion)
6981 (2 train/loud hvac/low propulsion)
7141 (4 train/loud hvac/loud propulsion)

You can always mix and match the sounds or cars to your liking! And does anyone want a 5 train?

@R40R32, thanks!
Also for 1101 you have that labeled as 2 train when thats a (4) train set.
Umm...may I request 7180 (4) train set plz(change in cab number)
Also basically when the (4) gets done we'll have a (5) train G.O it can be from Crown Hts terminating at 149th Exp track. Also we have a (5) via the 7th Av Line to 42nd St already just need manual and or automated announcements.

I have (5) via 7th Av announcements from Times Sq to 149th Street, the rest of the manhattan stops can be cut/paste from the (2). I recorded in the Unionport Yard with my cousin(T/O) a few years ago, the rest. I would just have to cut/paste for the Brooklyn Stops. I also Have all (5) sounds from Flatbush Av to Eastchester-Dyre and from Eastchester-Dyre to Utica Av And to Bowling Green(To/From) and (5) Shuttle Sounds both ways. Also have Grand Central bound 5 Sounds and the (5) to 149th Street(Upper Level) Sounds.

I think its better b\c SIR's have HVAC which Trevors didn't have also the sounds are more realistic. But we all have our opinions.

Thanks! And yeah, I don't know how to fix the turning radius. Any help with that would be appreciated.

@Cj & 4express, thanks! But it was trevor logan's R142 that inspired me to even get started with the project. I wish it were never taken down because so many people were unable to use a R142 for the 2 line.

Something Error had told me about long ago basically translateall has like half the size of the train example the Siemens is 18.5 and half of it is 9.25 so its [translateall 0, 0, 9.25]

I believe Translate all centers the train so when it turns it turns like a whole train and not individually by car, and it also makes the exterior be aligned with the cab position.

Noone has provided the actual meaning to the TranslateAll command yet, so let me explain. It's quite simple, really.

Look at the word Translate. It's a math term that also means "to slide" or "to move".

So, the TranslateAll command simply moves the entire object (hence the All after the word Translate). Why are there three values after it? Because the object will be moving according to the x-,y-,z-coordinate values that you assigned to the command.

Looking at the command, I can see that the train object that is referred to is built negatively. In [TranslateAll 0, 0, 9.25], only the z-value is defined and positive. That means the object is simply being moved (in the z-axis) so the center of the train object is sitting at the origin (0,0,0).

I think I already said this a couple of times but I'm not developing anymore for BVE 2/4, only OpenBVE. What exactly is stopping you from installing OpenBVE?

Post by: TJay1724 on February 27, 2011, 10:31:40 pm
What I believe Haven172 is getting at is the fact that a lot of these trains in development for OpenBVE were also stated to have a BVE 2/4 version coming soon and yet none have actually materialized. Now SIR has stated that he will only develop for OpenBVE and that is fine, but for those who make these annoucements of BVE 2/4 versions, you shouldn't say there will be a BVE 2/4 version if you have no intention of doing so. (R142A is a prime example. It's listed as having a BVE 2 version coming, but no info about it in the last couple of months) Now let's just take this into account: There are many of you who are unable to run BVE 2/4 and then there are those who can. Is it fair for them to be left out?? No. Many of the developers here create routes for both BVE 2/4 and OpenBVE so that everyone may enjoy the great work found here on BVEStation, yet trainsets are not the same way. It is the developer's choice which platform to develop for and I respect that. For me, I do not develop for OpenBVE because for some reason, I have problems with shading and colors popping up where they shouldn't be and a lot of objects intersecting with each other where as the same objects do not in BVE 2/4. For example, the tunnel rails I use do not have the color yellow or white in them. Yet at random times, certain parts of the object will display that way and I don't know why. My point is is that people are frustrated.

I understand what you're saying but I don't have either BVE 2 or 4 installed my computer anymore. BVE isn't optimized the way I like it to be whereas OpenBVE loads quickly and runs faster as well. Also, do keep in mind that BVE 2 was released in 2001 and BVE 4 was released in 2004, and it's harder to develop for those two than it is for OpenBVE.

As for the BVE 2 version of the R142A, that was being developed by someone else I believe.

Oh believe me, I understand exactly what you are saying. I reach a steady 60 fps on my A route which is heavily textured using OpenBVE whereas I'm getting between 12-30 fps on BVE 4. So I know what you mean. I was just saying that there are still BVE 2/4 users out there and I just feel like we are leaving them out of the loop.

BVE 2/4 and OpenBVE can both be installed on a computer at the same time without any problems so it's really up to those "out of the loop" to get in. I'm sure you remember how the R142A sounded when it was BVE, it wasn't nearly anything like the real-life one but with OpenBVE it's easier to obtain that realism with the allowance of extra motor sounds.

That is true, and that is one of the primary reasons why openBVE was initiated so people with Windows Xp computers as well as Linux and Mac users would not feel out of the loop. Keep in mind that before openBVE, Mac and Linux users would have to run windows through a program paralleled with Mac, so they can enjoy the content that BVE users enjoy.

Personally, even if I could use BVE 2/4 I wouldn't because of the frame optimization and the high frame rates, but I definitely understand your point.

No, no, no. @SIR i meant can you do a BVE version of your R142A? I have your old sounds but they sound challenged.

I think I already said this a couple of times but I'm not developing anymore for BVE 2/4, only OpenBVE. What exactly is stopping you from installing OpenBVE?

It is really really really laggy. Some of the routes for BVE 2 i use, Q, F (JayJays), and the 7 extensions i cant use. Its my computer that is stopping me. Hell id use Open anytime, but im limited to my powers.

I was the one that announced I'd be converting it. I have a lot of projects on the back burner right now so it's not coming along as fast as the other trains I've converted before. OpenBVE's sound standards are atrocious compared to BVE 2 and 4 so it's a lot easier to plop recordings in and release trains. When I convert them I have to sift through the .dat file and fix the run sounds. A version was ready for release, but the run sounds were deemed not usable by other testers. I have enough recordings to finish it now but I would like to get out the R110A and then hopefully convert them both to BVE 4 since I boot with Multiple OS's.

And the framerate issue on macs is BS, I ran the A on BVE 2 using Parallells 4 years ago and I got a decent 60 fps. People can also use Boot Camp to dual boot systems. Linux users also have WINE and DarWINE, which is a crapload more easier to install than using Mono to open OpenBVE. If they have a mac and want to use a free trainsim, then why not shell out the 30 bucks for parallells or VM Fusion.

Not only do you have to compile the files to load in it, but you have to do that on a normal basis to open the program. My point is that it's easier to use the other more conventional alternatives if you're knowledgeable enough to do that

Also, openBVE does not display the colors as vibrant as BVE 2/4 does. I will post screens later so you can all see what I mean. some people say that OpenBVE is too precise, but what me and a few other developers have found is that some of the technologies it uses is actually imperfect. Error actually found a flaw in the sound renderer while developing the R46, and when I was converting over the R62A I ran into some problems as well

The 1gig or RAM is my graphics memory. I have 4gigs of DDR3 RAM for my system. But on to the R142A. To give feedback I have to admit it is a nice train. SIR did a fantastic job. However, I must point out that the deceleration sound is nothing like the R142A until it gets down to about 15mph. The constant acceleration sound you hear on the R142A as it's moving along is the same sound you hear when it is decelerating. Otherwise this is a good train.

Ok here's the thing. I don't understand why people get upset when feedback is given that may not be favorable. That's how things get better. And I know that it's been stated that the NTT's are hard to code, however like SIR said, the original R142A had perfect sound on both the acceleration and the deceleration, but the startup was a bit off. So it is possible to get it to a tee. And I'm sorry, constructive criticism is how you better a product. So I have no idea why some of you have problems when others point out negatives, yet those same people point out the negatives of other peoples work.

Joseto that's funny. I'm the opposite. I have that prob with the regular release.

It's no problem, converting the train to BVE 2/4 is only a matter of speeding up the sounds and changing the .dat file. The R142 now makes propulsion sounds quicker, and the R142A has a deeper pitch, matching acceleration/deceleration sounds & no more repeating sounds. I'll be releasing version 6 later today while the BVE 2/4 versions will be released this weekend.

Does anyone have a file of the R142 making that hissing noise when it speeds and slows down?

The R142A sounds beautiful SIR! Bravo and the P1/P2 sounds have been completely fixed!

Just a few things to point out:

Sound Wise:
- The deceleration type sound that is present in the acceleration sound right when the train starts moving has been missing since V2.
- Particular deceleration sounds should have a higher volume, especially on those note drops.

Exterior Wise:
- The rotation on its axis problem has still not been fixed.

Other than that, I can say this is the best release yet and once you fix up those sound discrepancies, then this will be a perfect train.

Thanks simon! That deceleration type sound is missing because I used using a different recording of a R142A that didn't make that noise. But I just increased the volume rate of motor0.wav and motor5.wav and it makes a huge difference. About the axis rotation, I was told to use something called Translateall and place that line into some of the files but that was never elaborated. Any help with that would be appreciated?

It seems that when the BVE 2/4 version is released, it'll probably be version 7!

you have to add the translateall coding to ALL .b3d/.csv files involved in the train. In this case you didn't add it to the doors file

My goal now is get the train interior from looking like this (http://i.imgur.com/zx9VN.png) to something like this (http://rpmedia.ask.com/ts?u=/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/26/Empty_subway_in_NYC.jpg/250px-Empty_subway_in_NYC.jpg) for this for the R142A and the same for the R142. The seats and poles should be bigger because the R142s are cramped for space but there is plenty of space in the openbve version, the FIND is missing and there should be indents where the doors are on both exterior & exterior.

That's not it.

If you look back at recent posts:
Version 6.0 released for OpenBVE. BVE 2/4 coming shortly!
It seems that when the BVE 2/4 version is released, it'll probably be version 7!
So, according to this, Version 7 might have a BVE version.

Yeah, there's going to be a new 3 train R142 with the hissing sound and also a new R142A 2, 3 to New Lots and 5 train to 149th St with new sounds.

Also how do you all like the trains? My favorite is the R142A 6 because I tried to make it sound exactly the R142As and I use to ride them to school everyday.

So, version 8 is looking to be the final version for the trains until further notice (hopefully there will be a 3D cab or new exterior developed in the future!) I refined the physics, speed, and sounds to be as realistic as possible. The R142A will be released first and trust me, you'll definitely enjoy it!  8)

Once again, I am making BOTH the 142 and 142A, in collaboration with error46146 ans SIR. I am making the R142, and it will feature a 3D cab, as Slants4lyfe just said, and after which the R142A will be completed. It's also in the topic title, just a mere scroll downwards from this one.

Quick question though, I'm about to release the R142 v8 and a new R142A (4) train in the next hour but I need numbers for a R142A (4) trainset. First person to respond gets those numbers put on the train!

Yep, all the downloads can be located on the first page. R142A 7765 is ready for download and signed as the 2 line. It would be nice if there were some more IRT routes!  8)

Also, version 9 is very slowly in the making because I'm also working on another project at the moment but v9 will only be visual tweaks (all 10 cars will be numbered correctly). I tried messing around with a "hissing version" of the R142 but I couldn't get it to sound the way I wanted it to so you'll have to wait until Bstyles releases his R142.

For any other train developers; some what of a nit picky thing, but the end cars for example, some of the trains have the headlights picture instead of the traditional tail lights.  Now the static trains the route developers have in the routes, has the tail lights.  I don't know how to exactly word it, but I hope you know what I mean.

It's cool to see more trains with animated doors and signs. But the problem with the R179 is about the doors. In the interior the doors are visible

You might want to fix that in the next beta release. and you also misspelled broadway in broadway junction wrong/

And also in the exterior the doors are a bit uneven a little bit of one of the doors are blocked and one isnt

I just want to know, why do the updated R143 and 179 sounds have so much static and just doesn't sound to good? The first version of the R179 and 143 sounds were perfect.

TJay is correct the old R143 sounds were better now the R143 sounds more like a R179 with R142 sounds..............

Instead of releasing the entire train folder can you like take out some stuff that was not updated such as the "cars" for the exterior/interior.

I wish I could do that but each train calls for different textures so an entire copy of the train folder is required. I need a script system like DJ Hammer's R38 in order to have only 1 train.

Download R179 V5 & R143 V8.1 here (http://forums.bvestation.com/index.php?topic=336.0)

152 MB... thats a real doozy lol.. I think that we really have to start finding a way to reduce the size of these files. Slow internet users won't be able to get new content if files remain this large all the time.

I agree. If this was just a sounds update, couldn't you just upload the new sounds and tell everyone to override the old files instead of having everyone download every single file again. Even with high speed broadband, this download will take me at least 20 minutes to fully download.

If it takes you 20 minutes with high speed broadband, there is something wrong with your connection then.

I don't use FiOS or Cable, I have Verizon's High Speed Broadband and that 152MB download took less then 10 minutes for me.

Besides that fact, I also do believe if it were small upgrades, it would be better to upload the fixes instead.  Unless of course it was an overhaul of the complete folder.

I'm sure he was being sarcastic about that time but I get internet off the air downloading about 150kpb/s and a 50MB file takes about 5min.But I know where he's coming from.

But updating the entire folder is un necessary.I have about 3 versions of the R-179 so thats 9 files I have v1 v2.0 and v3.

You don't have to download it if you don't want to. When I was releasing just the updated files people were complaining even more about why I wasn't including the entire train with it.  ???

Also, the days of holding back on content because someone has a slow internet connection or ancient graphics card are over! It's about time that we push OpenBVE to it's limits even if it means a 152 MB download. Any other sim such as Trainz or Railworks has individual locomotives that are 300+ MB by themselves. And also read the readme, as it states to delete older versions of the R179 (V1-V4).

I would suggest converting all textures to PNG in order to save space anyway. Smaller file sizes also mean faster loading times in OpenBVE.

Title: Major R179 Update! [OpenBVE] Official Thread for SIR North Shore's New.....
Post by: (SIR) North Shore Line on June 15, 2011, 01:45:07 pm
Introducing the R179 Version 6!

Updates Include:

-New File structure so that a full re-download is not required after V6. Instead, when an update is released an incremental update file will be available as well as the full train.

-New textures.

-New R179s signed up for Jamaica Center (E) or (Z) and WTC-bound (E).

-If you have any new signs for the R179 send me a PM and I'll add it to the download pack.

Download on first page (http://forums.bvestation.com/index.php?topic=336.0)

REMEMBER: Please remove older versions of R179 first before installing version 6! This will be the last time this is required.

Great stuff!

Just wondering, when would you start incorporating the tail-lights for the trains.  Not to be nit-picking but seeing headlights as the tails never seems right.

I really didn't mean to come off as ungrateful or anything with my last post, nor do I want you or anyone else to downgrade your work to meet the demands of outdated computers. I just meant the primary trains (the regular R179, the 8-car version and the one with Alstom propulsion) could've been packaged as one download and the extras as another. That's all. I appreciate all the work you and the other developers here are doing for the BVE community and am especially grateful that you make these trains as we wouldn't have a good R142 for this site for starters.

This is an exaggeration, as most trains don't exceed 20-30MB. But I see the Idea you're getting at.

Great stuff!

The 142 Exterior, as well as all the animations, sounds, etc. will be worked on by me, in due time. I'm currently working on the interior and i'm studying the code from most LUL trains.

SIR is right, though. We can't continue to make content easy to run for those who have low-end computers. This is 2011, and as much as i'm aware that cash is tight right now, you really have to take into consideration that time is moving on.

@Bstyles ;; I wasn't asking about the 142 exterior.  But in theory, yes.  The R142 using the R152 (I believe) exterior has tail-lights instead of showing headlights.  Concerning the R143/R160 train-set exteriors we got, it looks as if we are using the front car's face as the rear car's face as well.  Hence showing headlights both front and back.

Thanks! The rear headlights are just a placeholder, as soon as I get the texture files for the rear and in between the cars, hopefully it'll look much better.

It's cool, don't worry about it. Hopefully the R179 will get a script of some kind to change the exterior/interior LED and FIND screens in the near future. Thanks for the support btw!

Exactly, there is no matching rear car face for the openbve R143/R160/R179 at the moment. Trying to place the tailights onto the R142 took me a few days to figure out but it wasn't an easy task at all lol. I'll take a shot at that soon for the R143 & R179.

That's great, I mean after so many versions I thought you guys would have picked up on this!  None the less you guys did a great job!

If anyone was wondering what I was requesting them to fix was basically the tail-end from instead of having headlights, taillights; As shown here, I know it's not perfect but I never meant it to be perfect, more of an example.  So apologies if I violated anything.

The (7) has unrealistic station distances, so its the route that has the problem. When the new version comes out, it'll be more realistic.

Sure, I can get that done.

Not on my version but mostly likely Bstyles R142 will have that.

why does the R179 Q bombardier sounds like the R143

The R179 is a fictional train and there should be two versions of the Q train. One with the R143 sounds and 1 with the R160 sounds.

Yeah, the R142's do, but the R142A's have Bombardier propulsion. Big difference there in terms of sound, that's why it is easy to tell if you are riding an R142 or R142A because of the propulsion sound. SIRNSL made an R142 and R142A, and its the R142 that has the hissing.

Yes they all have the hissing sound it's just that all the R142s don't sound the same.

hey (SIR) or anyone else...im a huge fan of openbve but im not as active
i do have a question though: the R179 has the exterior and the sounds like the R160, the only difference is the panel
if someone could tell me if thats true or not...that would be great ;D

Well, there are no big differences except the route icon in the CBTC screen and the fact that it says "R179A" on the panel instead of R160, so I guess you could say it is sort-of true.

BTW, SIR, since the R179 already has working interior LED's, will you also (if it's possible) make them synchronized with what station you are at, as long as you are driving the right route? Like, for example, if I was driving the (F) train and I was just at Kings Hwy station, it would say that the next stop is Avenue P, and so on, instead of just always saying that the next stop is Parsons Blvd. Just a suggestion...

I'm sure it's possible, and I'm also sure there's more than one way to do it. However, it would require some addons, and a little programming. I started doing some research on that about a week back. Hopefully I get some good results.

Yes, something like that. the current station I think is the easiest one, or the destination, since it registers it as a *Terminal Station*

The real R179 will most likely be another rendition of the R143 & R160 so that's why it seems so similar in OpenBVE but when the real R179 design is released, I'll definitely change it up.

Also, I would like that feature more than anything subwaytrainoperator but it's only possible through a plugin like DJ Hammers mentioned which is an area that I have no expertise on. I used to only develop new sounds for BVE4 trains so actually developing trains for OpenBVE is still new to me right now.

The next train due for an update will be the R143.

In order for the beacon command to work well with the train, it must be specified in the route file what system will you be running. On top of that the ATS system must be installed properly on the train itself. For example if you check out what Rayvon did with the Riverbank Park Shuttle you will see what I mean.

If you look at the beginning of the route you will see the change.route command, and you will see the beacon command displayed through out the route.

I have an idea but i don't know if it's possible or practical
This will only be possible for one route and direction per train so you will have to make different versions for different lines.
At every station the find and everything else that changes at a station can be changed to the next station by pressing 4 or Home(example keys). For example, the J train, at Norwood Avenue it says: To Broad Street | The Next Stop Is | Cleveland St. | 8:00 AM    then aproaching the station change it to say: This Is | Cleveland St | This Is | Cleveland St   and so on. I do not know how to code this but it is my idea and I can explain the concept to the person who would like to create this by PM. I want to be acknowledged if my idea is used

I am awaiting the code from Aaron. When I receive it I will be able to modify it to those request. This can be accomplished using a key command just like the R38 roll signs for openBVE. Until then the train will be standard as how SIR made it.

Yes when you think it through but I have 210 GB left on my computer and I'm just trying to help. If you have a better idea that's awesome but that's the best I can come up with. with almost 500 stops in the system and 24 routes i think it's pretty hard to make my idea a reality.

There are a few changes I would like to make before I release version 9 and I also want to check out Pito's R143 first as well and see what he's been working on. The new panel by Mr. Railfan has not been completed yet but when it is, it will be released with this R143.

Download is on the first page.  8)

Just out of curiosity, why are the train files so large in files?  They seem to be even larger than some the most detailed routes we have here.

It's just a combination of the sound files as well as the exterior files. OpenBVE development in 2011 is much further than it has been in years and it's now able to handle higher detailed sounds and objects as you already know. If anyone's pc/laptop can't handle the NTT files whether it's due to file space, old graphics card or slow internet, the only sound advice I could give is to not download it.

Too reduce the size , you should package the train with .7z . i guarantee it will reduce the file size by 50% if not more. Anyways ive been a bit busy and haven't touched the 143 cab yet but i will soon .

also there are a few things i noticed while testing:

This train contains a FIND system while their real life counterpart has a strip map

This train contains metal ends by the cab while the real life counterpart has like a light grey wall paper [IDK what its called]

Also on the back of the exterior LED sign [Thats the inside] , is another screen which has a Led display which shows Information like [Access a ride phone number , bus info , metrocard info, etc.] unlike in the 160 where it has been replaced by a picture .

i think updating this would make the train better and more realistic.

But overall great job.

Thanks for the feedback! That's exactly why I numbered this version 8.9 instead of 9 because I wanted to add in the LED info box, change that metal part but I think the R143s are due to receive FIND systems in the near future. I also want to change the color of the R143 interior so that it is more sterile like the R142As. Right now it's just a modified R179 (M) train.

Also if possible would any like to create a texture for the (L) strip map? I can't get a solid picture of it without the poles in the way.

First off, I know pitor160 PMed me about an R143 strip map a while ago and to be quite honest, I forgot about it until I saw SIR's post. I apologize for that.

Now that that's out of the way, I've got around to making one. Quick Question.... Why so many versions? Why not just wait till your happy with what you did then release.. 10 versions of the R142... ( Not saying its bad I just hate downloading the same thing over and over again with just a few small updates)
There minor or major updates in the sounds and or exterior

The updating process it good it's like an overwrite when you install them to the computer.

There needs to be work on the doors and signage. Instead of using photo pictures try creating the interior panel from scratch like for example the interior LED.

The exterior should also be hand drawn because when I looked the train yesterday it's slightly not the trains exterior cause I can still see in the window from the side of the sign.

Other than that good work. If you need help just ring the alarm. Lol

I agree. The exterior doors look out of place with the train's texture. However, I don't see an easy solution because you would have to photoshop the exterior doors to achieve the same color of the exterior skin, or get a brand new texture altogether.

The train also needs to have its body reconfigured. Right now, the undercar section is too small and the body too big, so when the train pulls into the station, part of the door lays submerged from the station. Easy fix is to make the undercar section bigger.

Fun idea, is it possible to feature those moving LED screens found on some R143s. It would be cool to see this thing fully animated.

Post by: (SIR) North Shore Line on August 30, 2011, 12:33:15 pm
R143 Version 9 is now released. It has the strip maps thanks to Lance, a new exterior and louder sounds.

And those are all great ideas. I want the R143 to look realistic as possible so if anyone else wants to help out or change any of the png files to make it look better feel free to do so!  8) I can always add the changes to a newer version.

Try changing the wall texture of the R143 to a new one; I noticed that in the texture it already has, you can see part of a seat and railing

Take a look at this picture I uploaded to Flickr to see what I mean: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66557704@N02/6097865450/#in/photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/66557704@N02/6097865450/#in/photostream)

Havent gotten a chance to upload it . Basicly i asked the conductor at 8th ave if he can change it to another program besides the L and M and he said he only knows one code so he put up the J to broad st and said the 143 works just like the 160 when putting up the route program [enter in a Code and itll put up the program u want]

also there are a few things i noticed while testing:

This train contains a FIND system while their real life counterpart has a strip map

This train contains metal ends by the cab while the real life counterpart has like a light grey wall paper [IDK what its called]

Also on the back of the exterior LED sign [Thats the inside] , is another screen which has a Led display which shows Information like [Access a ride phone number , bus info , metrocard info, etc.] unlike in the 160 where it has been replaced by a picture .

i think updating this would make the train better and more realistic.

But overall great job.
Thank You I noticed that too. Also instead of having the regular storm door I saw the cab door on both ends of the first car.

I've asked this before but would anyone like to modify the R143 exterior to look more like an R143? I'm very satisfied with the way it sounds now and I'll add more versions of the R143 in the future like the R179. I would like to move on to creating a new Siemens R179 but I want to release a new exterior for the R143 first!  8)

I'm done working on the sounds and train.dat for all the trains except for the siemens R179 which I will reveal soon (after the R143 10.0) . Are they fine with all of you who downloaded the trains?

That "jumping" is a side affect of the way the CBTC system accurately stops the train. The R143 is perfectly capable of stopping without this "jumping".

the jumping is an ATO thing, i think it has to do with the way it applies the brakes (not too sure though).

when the R143's are operated by a person the brakes do not 'jump' like that.

There going to be a 7 R142 or R142A

R142A 7767 already made an R142A (7) Train, and SIRNSL will make an R188 in the future.

Hey SIR is the R142 and the R142A going to have Mr.RailFan cab

The realistic R142A and R142 is being done by BStyles, myself and MrRailfan. I have asked permission for his panel. When completed you will see BStyles topic updated.

SIR's R142 and R142A will feature working head lights. When put in E-Brake the lights will change from regular headlights to the regular red glow. That will be completed in February unless done earlier by himself. This version will have interior and exterior destination and hopefully an animated strip map and LCD screen.

If there haven't been any posts from the developers, then obviously not =P

And just incase anyone didn't notice, but as downloaded, the R179 v8.0 trains are a bit too close together. the spacing should b changed from 18.35 to 18.65 or .70 for a more realistic exterior view.

There seems to be a lot of confusion going on as it seems there are multiple R142A & R143 projects going on but I don't think you should post that you are working on it until you have something to show for it! And when you do, create a new thread for it, post screenshots, videos, etc.! There's nothing wrong with having two versions of the same train but why waste your time saying you're working on this and that and then we never hear about that train again.

My next projects are the Siemens R179 and a new R142A with HD sounds, and combine the animated signs from the <6> with the new interior from the (7).

Nice work SIR. However I need to point out 2 things. 1) The motor sounds only seem to play on P3. Putting the chain in P1 or P2 plays no sound at all. Where as the R142A motors make sounds on all power levels. And 2) For some reason, when you put the train in neutral will moving, the run sounds don't play either. Other than that, nice work.

So in the next (4) train update, the elevated portion is going to resemble the New Lots Line a bit more with only 2 types of stations, renovated & un-renovated. Hopefully some new buildings, the el will be 2-tracks with a gap in the middle from Nevins to Eastern Parkway and 3 tracks from Nostrand to 125th Street.

It is not a problem with the train itself, it can be a technical issue. Try downloading the latest stable version of OpenBVE, because I had a problem like that with the development version

Can you post up the image of the error message and anything that may help?  I don't think I've ever received a message like that for any route/train load up.

But as the others said, try using the development version and see if it still happens.

It is a possibility that your computer is not powerful enough. Back before I got my graphics card replaced, I was getting that problem all the time on all routes. But now that I have a better one, I do not get it at all. What are your specs?

I believe the problem is not having enough memory, and that could be because your pc is not fast enough. Try searching the official openbve forums to see if anyone else has the same problem.

And about the MT4 route, I'm in the process of installing clocks and announcements to the line and I also re-arranged the stations. The first station is now Boro Hall while 86th & 125th have been removed.

Thanks guys.. I've started to study the creating addons section of the official openbve website and I managed to come up with this experimental 4 line route that uses the random syntax or ($RND).

Now you have 11 routes for your MT4 Line! ;)

For me, some of the signals didn't clear until I was about 10 feet in front of them..... also, it is virtually impossible for all 4 trains (3 AI trains, then one self operated) to terminate. There must be some sort of way to make one train terminate on one express track and another train to terminate on another express track...

It's impossible to have them all terminate and the 1 AI train in front does magic @ New Lots lol. As long as your train can terminate that's what matters for now.

I've removed a signal at Fulton Street that would allow you to enter while the train is still in the station. (wait for the train in front to fully leave the station before entering!) Also, there's now 11 files to choose from, the new ones being the 2nd to last (2) to New Lots & a slightly delayed (4) train.

there is currently no pictures , or even official plans on how it will look like . The contract date for the order should take place sometime in the first quarter of 2012 , so we might get some info then . My guess is it will look similar to the current r160 .

Jesus, i need a new computer immediately None are for BVE?.

Go to the official Openbve website (http://trainsimframework.org/) and download the stable version. OpenBVE is optimized to run much faster than BVE 2 or BVE 4 ever could run. There's options available to make the game faster such as turning down the draw distance or motion blur.

Interesting route! And now we can choice from various trains for use. Thanks!  ;)

Thanks! And as Mr. Railfan mentioned, the R179 is more likely than not to resemble the R160.

Some of the link said this message when i try to download it. Invalid or Deleted File.

The key you provided for file download was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on Mediafire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or Mediafire.

Happy holidays and thanks for letting me know! Mediafire has been giving me some problems lately so I am currently waiting for all downloads to be uploaded to the download section. Every now and then mediafire will be down or the links will give a false invalid or deleted file when it works. For now, you can use the BVE routes wiki download links for the R142/A & New Lots line.

Nice job SIR! Could you look into the double red signalling system? It's extremely frustrating to abruptly see the train in front of you one red signal away. Maybe you could look into the signal coding, so you'll make it that there are two reds instead of one.

The R-142A doesn't really have a compressor sound they're really quiet some are loud in cases but with the A/C or and heat on there quiet unlike the Bom 142's which are loud as heck and the 143's that would be a good idea though having the HVAC's kick in randomly.
