NYCTA Projects / Re: R33WF [Worlds Fair] Official Thread + Preview

The propulsion will be tricky if we want it to be accurate; the R33-WF in the TM still has field shunting activated. Basically the motors will sound a little bit higher-pitched and will have a bit more of an air sound.

Look at the end of this video when the redbird is leaving Flatbush to see what I mean (It's at around 3:50 in the video):
The R110A NEW TECH "SCHOOL CAR" TRAIN (1994)

this is pretty much the epitome of pre-1995 (Williamsburg Bridge Crash) redbird propulsion and is what we need ideally.

that would work with a bit of sound tweaking. Keep in mind that the distance between the trucks is different between the R68 and the R62, leading to different sounds even though the trucks are the same.

Yeah that should be easy to implement (in fact a similar feature is implemented in the R38)

Just one question, to turn on the wiper, do you pull the lever up or down?

Just keep in mind that these features can only be implemented in a train using the panel2.cfg system and not the panel.cfg system.

Because of recent developments the TOMC project has been split. The R33-WF and R33-WF RFW view is going forward as a joint project between me and Mr. Railfan.

As for the R33-ML, work will continue to progress slowly due to the large amount of work I have in school this year (You all have NO idea how much it is :P).

Here is the link to the R33-WF and R33-WF RFW view thread: http://forums.bvestation.com/index.php?topic=331.0

This thread will be for the R33-WF and R33-WF RFW view ONLY.

The R33-ML will remain in the original thread (Which has had it's name changed from the TOMC thread to the R33-ML thread)

BTW Mr. Railfan I can deal completely with the RFW view version that I was working on before; the panel is pretty much done. When the normal R33-WF is finished on your end, send it to me and I will basically synchronize the two trains in terms of sounds and performance and I will put some finishing touches on them like windshield wipers, etc.

Other Random Note:

Does anybody know what happened to that Redbird exterior being created back on the old forums?

Great route! Don't get discouraged by the people saying that it is terrible and then covering it up, we all love this route!  ;D

DAMN nice work!  :o

lol its nice to see somebody actually using the R38's changeable rollsigns, half of the PMs I get are about how to change them when the instructions are right there in the readme  :P

Ehh, it's not even MTA I'm going to blame.  I'm 22 now and my parents told me they've been repairing the Gowanus Expressway before I was even born.  If they aren't done with that then I can't really see this being done by 2016.
Lol yeah by the time the finish with one side of the expressway, the other needs repairing. It's a cycle that has been going on for as long as I can remember.

Very nice work jayjay! I'm loving it as always!

yeah the solid white needs to go. I would suggest using GIMP or another similar image editing program to create some texture.

ORRRRRR..... you could make your own realistic panel from scratch. (Which is better)

882
4) I don't believe that the top is white
actually the top is white but it still needs to be textured; solid white just isn't good.

its a little more complicated than that.

In the simplest of terms, a 3D modeling program can open up a b3d file made for BVE, but BVE can't utilize b3d files exported from a 3D modeling program without some hand coding in the b3d file itself.

Maybe somebody with a little more experience can explain in further detail, I don't do objects so I can't really help you beyond this.

this is unacceptable. In fact your modified version is a step BACKWARDS in terms of realism in comparison to the current panel.

Either make improvements to the existing panel that make it look more realistic, or make your own from scratch. (The second option is better really)

yeah jose you got it its Railway Preservation Corp.

IIRC RPC received some cars from the TA because the TA was intent on scrapping them back in the 70s-80s.
