Shortening trains...
« on: September 01, 2012, 08:07:37 pm »
How would you shorten a train? I'd like to shorten the R46 so I could use it on the (G) train OPTO and the Franklin Avenue Shuttle.

In the train.dat file, you'll have to edit it.  For me it comes out as a VCD file for some reason.

But when you open the file in notepad, scroll down to #Car and it should be in the 4th line.  On the R46 file out, descriptions are on the side so it should be easier to find.

I found it, but how do you slow down the rollsign speed? It speeds up when you shorten the train.

Totally forgot about that.  @Threxx, you'd have to delete the last 4 cars off the extension as well.

@Mudwrestle, you'd still get the rear car's red light because when I downloaded the R46, it was configured ABBC-ABBC.  Where the A car had headlights and the C car had the tail lights.

I actually find that when you shorten consists, you can leave the extensions file alone. As long as you edit the train.dat file, then the program won't render anything past the last car, regardless of how many cars you have in the extensions file. Obviously, if you lengthen consists, then you have to add the object commands into the extension file.
