Station Talk / MTA Endorses BVEStation for Arts For Transit
« on: April 01, 2013, 05:10:15 pm »
The MTA has taken notice of the work that occurs at BVEStation and its associated works.  The MTA has decided that the work on BVEStation would best be showcased in the MTA's Arts For Transit program.  MTA Arts for Transit commissions artists through a competitive selection process to create original, site-specific permanent artwork for rehabilitated stations and have selected some of the content featured on BVEStation for showcasing at the Transit Museum.

"We are pleased to showcase the wonderful work happening at BVEStation to the public, the works created at BVEStation provides an opportunity for the public to enjoy the subway system and its history in a more fun and interactive way" said MTA Arts for Transit Spokeperson Susan Portland.

The museum will be showcasing the museum exhibits of the works of BVEStation, from April 1st to April 2nd.

Virtual Reality Train Simulators

Brooklyn, April 1st to April 2nd.

The BVE Trainsim has gotten popularity in the London Transit Museums, the transit museum will be showcasing the BVE Trainsim with content for New York City, just like the London Transit Museums.  Patrons will be able to interact with a train simulator, taking on the role of a New York City Subway operator, featuring popular lines, like the A, or the 7.  Patrons will also learn the development of the subway system through small snippets of information that will flash on the screen as patrons pass by stations in the simulator.

Train Showcase

Brooklyn, April 1st to June 30th.

Virtual 3d models of prototype trains, and trains that are never built can now be experienced with a fully immersive motion simulator.  Patrons will experience realistic sounds, and feelings from the simulator.  Prototype trains include the R10, futuristic trains, like the R211 and service/maintenance trains.

Happy April Fools Day!

I haven't really looked at the code in a while, and I dont think I can really help much, but I'll offer some input, perhaps it'll give you some ideas or something.

That piece of code seems to be dictated by the fact that the train has to be moving, so when the train actually runs, the code segment will run upon braking.  It then calculates the Deceleration factor from the brake/notch and the motor deceleration, which is probably defined by the train.dat

I dont really see anything relating to brake type, other than the fact that its using it to decide whether or not to speed up or slow down the deceleration.

I would suggest taking a look at what Train.Cars.Specs is, and retrace it, perhaps you'll find something within that class.

Hey guys,

As you know BVEStation has partnered up with Making All Stops for the last several months, hooking up a few lucky BVEStation members with a beautiful first Volume of a wonderful photography book.  No other BVE fansite or even transit related website has thrown such a promotion to do such a thing.  As we walk into the new year with this promo ending, I want to know what you guys thought about the promotion, what you liked, what you didn't like, would you like a discount, and what other things you would like to see us do for you guys.  Let me know, and discuss your ideas/comments/thoughts/questions here.  Thanks.

Introduction / Re: Routes for free!!!!!!!!!
« on: October 25, 2012, 03:29:39 pm »
We have tried this in the past, and we have seen the reception of doing this.  Especially during the days of severe copyright issues, doing that solved nothing, and even encouraged more of it.

It is much more of a nuisance to sign in just to download a file and then leave.  I personally hate sites that do this, and I did not want to do it on BVEStation.  Having all these extra empty accounts wont do anything to the community other than inflate it and encourage users to create duplicate accounts.  I've gone through about 3 computers throughout the course of BVEStation being up, and when I need to reinstall everything, not having to sign in makes life just that much easier when I'm reinstalling routes.  I understand if there were exclusive files only for members, thats fine.  Our goal at BVEStation is to get our users to the content they want as fast, and painless as possible, we're not there yet but its what we hope to do.

Finally, more members doesn't necessarily mean more developers.  While we wished it were like that, its not.
