Transit / Re: Jay Walder resigns, heads to Hong Kong MTR

What could he do? He was brought on board in 2009.  At that point, the budget was already in the toilets and as you may remember, we were facing the '09 service cuts ((W), (Z) eliminated; (M) cut to Chambers St, rush hrs). You can't really do much when you don't have any money and the stuff he did do, like the station rehab projects on the Pelham and Brighton lines or the implementation of the ATS system on the IRT lines, was already paid for in the previous capital budget program.

BVE/OpenBVE Support / Re: Random Doors opening on some routes
« on: July 25, 2011, 04:58:14 pm »
The platform is just an object, and some of those routes are coded in RW. In BVE, you can't tell the difference. In OpenBVE, you can. RW, unless it has the command, will open the doors on both sides. If you convert an RW route to CSV using BRR, the doors will always open on the right (2 and A) Yes there is a way to fix it, you have to modify the .sta command.

How can that be possible with BRR?

Don't worry about BRR, you can fix the door issue with .rw routes without the conversion process.
Below is a line of code from the fictional (K) line:
Code: [Select]
@station(Passaic Juction,,,1,ats,\K\Passaic Juction_dep.wav)The "1" is the default code for opening the right side. All you have to do is change that "1" to either "L", "R" (for left or right obviously) or "B" (for both) to determine which side the train doors open at a station so the line shows the following:
Code: [Select]
@station(Passaic Juction,,,R,ats,\K\Passaic Juction_dep.wav)Now you have to do the same for each station that's supposed to open on the left.

On a side note, I'd recommend downloading NotePad++ since it's much easier to see the code than it is in regular Notepad or Excel.

He did his best with what he had.  Albany screwed the MTA over, the Union and its members get pay raises screwing the MTA again.  You have 2 groups pulling the legs of the MTA, I think Walder did an exceptional job trying to balance them.  There is no way you can satisfy everybody in that sort of situation.  The service cuts were inevitable really.  Perhaps the money used to innovate the technology in the system could've been used to hold back the cuts or a fare hike, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't enough being that the countdown clocks were relatively inexpensive, and the new website job and advertising campaigns are merely specks of dust admist the whole financial crisis.

RE: Countdown clocks:
The clocks were paid for in the 2005-09 capital budget and a good chunk of the boards were installed in 2008, so that wouldn't have saved much money. All the MTA did starting last year was turn them on. Plus, the clocks are just a minor (and less expensive) part of the ATS system that was installed a few years ago.

Didnt hear much about him until he implemented the solar heated water at nearby Transit Yards (including Coney Island). Other than that I hope the new guy brings back the 7 Day Fun Pass (as quoted from 4 Express), which I totally agree with.

Don't bank on it. Until the budget improves for the MTA, don't expect any improvements to service or the return of the fun-pass.

Guys, can we worry about the major things first, like actually getting this train completed, hmm? Later on, we can concern ourselves with the minor details like fictional animated rollsigns and LED circle/diamond indicators and the like.

Come on guys, I'm not clairvoyant. You've got to be specific with your requests. ;)

Besides the (N) and (Q) using a few more R68(A)s than before, not much else has changed.

The R32s can pop up on the (A), just not as frequently as the R46 on the (F). An R46 was placed on the (C) because of the July 4th holiday. The MTA decided to increase service after the fireworks.

If I'm not mistaken, it will include all the numbered routes and destinations that are standard on the R62s and R62As. Aaron (RachelBerryFan47) and Brad (BStyles) can confirm.

That's because the .exe file dumped all the objects in the wrong location at default. I'd say move the files, but in my opinion, it's just easier to re-download the files and when you run the .exe file for the objects, add "\Mermaid Avenue" to the directory, like so:
.
That should fix the problems you have with this route.

(F) 207th Street to -Coney Island Stillwell Avenue
Via 6th avenue exp and via Queens blvd express Culver express
Thanks

Request denied on grounds that your request doesn't make a lick of sense. The (F) can't run along both Eighth Avenue from 207 St and via Queens Boulevard to Coney Island.
