Post by: ErrorMacro11 on May 02, 2012, 05:41:44 pm
the R42 as you know will be going into retirement soon, but first, we will make this train availiable for openbve
two versions will be released
Low Quality, and High quality version
Me, Mudwrestle, and Mr Railfan will work hard on this

Ride on guys. Even if they remove the r42's. We will always remember them and as well have them on open bve :-) as high and low quality as ya stated

The R40 Slant would be a breeze after the R42 is completed, since they are so outwardly similar in terms of the interior and the general design (Excluding the slanted front). An R40M could also be made, I think it was another one of Mr Railfan's projects as well. Maybe we could even have an R40M/R42 mixed consist as well ;)

To clarify for anyone that might be wondering (Including me), the R40M cab is basically an R42 cab with the R40 Slant cab layout (Like the speedometer in the middle of the panel and the door operator lights on the right) and the rest is the general "frame" of the R42 cab, correct? And for the record, I believe ZeroBeats was working on a new R40 Slant too.

Great texture! My only suggestion is to fix the barrel distortion around the top part of the bonnet.

It looks very good! My suggestion though would be to replace the controller with the standard GE controller found in most SMEE cabs.......

http://s91.photobucket.com/albums/k318/jtr1962/NYC%20SUBWAY%20CABS/?action=view&current=IMG_0482.jpg (http://s91.photobucket.com/albums/k318/jtr1962/NYC%20SUBWAY%20CABS/?action=view&current=IMG_0482.jpg)

Doing that would make quite a breakthrough in developing SMEE's for OpenBVE, because the controller from this R42 could also be used in the R32, R38, R40 Slant/R40M, and R62 ;)

Guys, I have somewhat good news. due to recent investigations of R40M and R42, the project has two different possibilities.
1) if we continue to use DJ Hammers R38 seats and add the buldge, it could develop into The R40M, however, this would mean to get a different interior roof
2) we use mudwrestles seats and his interior Roof and continue to develop R42

heres the progress of it so far

It has been a great run for the R42 but I hope for the R211 they are seventy-five foot cars instead of sixty foot cars. I think we have enough sixty foot cars to last us until at least 2052!!

release date is now changed to january 30, 2013
textures need to be updated as well as adding mudwrestles curved seats
remember- the release date depends on the high amount of textures you give me

but dont worry- you'll guys will get some eye candy- but from two other trains,
Pacific385 has allowed me to continue development of the R175 and R176
The R176 overhaul is coming out very nicely

Projects Expected to be made and released

R42-(Expected Due Date)= Late January 2013
T1-(Expected Due Date)= Late March 2013
R110A/B= Late May 2013

Is the above roof|ceiling gif|bmp|jpg|png dimensioned larger than 2048 pixels , either width or height?
I have an old notebook PC with integrated graphics that will not display a textures >2048, and only displays white space instead.
However, on my newer notebook PC with Nvidia graphics, images larger than 2048 display OK.
If this roof|ceiling texture is larger, try resizing it down to 2048 or less.
Or split the texture and associated b3d|csv coding into 2 parts, each 2048 pixels or less.

Actually, scrolling rollsigns do little to the framerate on most trains. You should add them to all versions...
