General BVE/OpenBVE / Re: OpenBVE Lives On.

Excellent work, guys. OpenBVE will continue because of the enthusiasm of all involved, both past and present. It's business as usual in Ireland at www.celtictrainsim.com

A new 50km addition to the Ballyfeckin routes will be released later this year. You can also follow celtictrainsim on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Celtictrainsim/219222831500959

And the rolling stock is being increased as well, more information here http://www.bve-terminus.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1228 These EMD locos are in a new color scheme now but I'm trying to cover the passenger stock back from the 1990s to present. Today loco haulage is only on Dublin-Cork and Dublin-Belfast, all other Intercity routes use 22000 class DMUs.

Absolutely not. All of my routes objects and trains are coded using windows notepad. I was never able to work out how to use routebuilder. I downloaded it and read the instructions and tried to use it on several occasions without getting anywhere. I just could not figure it. After about two weeks I dumped it and got hold of Dennis Lance's tutorial and learned to write code. And I am glad I did it that way, because it gives me more freedom of expression. Routebuilder made work is fine, don't get me wrong, but I can tell when a route is made with that program, I suppose tthe program stamps its personality on the work. I would rather stamp my own personality on my work, as I think I have done.
So, my only tools are pencil and paper, windows notepad, Objectviewer, Routeviewer and Photoshop.

Find a link to Dennis Lance's tutorial here http://www.eezypeazy.co.uk/

You might find this useful:
http://www.roman-road.co.uk/temp/tutorial/index.html

It helped me when I needed to build a train cabview, and I had no previous knowledge. You can see the trains and stuff I made on the links in here:

I learned to hand code routes because I was too dumb to be able to get routebuilder to work.
Theres a link on here http://www.eezypeazy.co.uk/ to a tutorial by Dennis Lance. I downloaded the examples and printed out all the instructions because I prefer a 'book' to learn from.

It worked for me, you can see what I've done if you look at the 'Ballyfeckin and Waterville Railway' )in 'Other Development on here)
It takes a bit of time and effort, but you will find it worthwhile. There's a lot more you can put in a route when you can hand code.

Glad to see it's being well received, and thanks for the kind reception. Oddly enough, an Irish route seems more popular in the US than the UK. Wasn't America always good for the Irish!! Slainte!!

Googling 525 error
Quote
Error 525 takes place when the system is misconfigured or its essential files are missing.

There are many zip utilities. I've only known one called '7-zip', it's free and never given any trouble. May be worth you checking it out.

The files are in .7z compressed format. If you have extracted the files and placed the contents in the correct folders there should be no difficulty. Several testers tried the beta before I released the route and the only reported problem with the beta was because the brsigs were not included and the user hadn't got them in his objects folder. As the sigs are now included this problem won't arise.
You say that the route loads, you do not mention any error messages? A blank screen might be a result of not having the object files in the openbve/railway/object folder, but in that case you should see a list of errors due to missing files. I assume you are using the normal folder structure as detailed on the OpenBVE site, downloads, instructions http://openbve.trainsimcentral.co.uk/downloads.html Incorrect folder structure can cause problems. Maybe someone else has a bright idea?

A new route for OpenBVE, the Ballyfeckin and Waterville is the new 54km route by graymac, who has made the only Irish standard gauge routes so far for BVE. There is also Irish diesel multiple units and loco haulage is in development. Details on the website

See it before St Patrick's day! ;)
